I loved Ewing and the Knicks growing up. Hes an all time great and at the same time is underrated imo. Watching him swat shots and the Knicks overall hustle on d was what got me into basketball. Go Knicks!

It's a shame the Knicks wasted Ewing's statistical prime between 89-91 by not getting him the right coach or supporting cast, and then couldn't get him a reliable #2 wing scorer during the Riley years. Dude was a monster.

Ewing was better during the Riley years, but the Knicks traded Mark Jackson who helped lead a faster paced offense which resulted in more scoring, rebounding and shot blocking opportunities. During Ewing’s best years, the Knicks played at an extremely slow half-court pace and focused on defense. This limited his counting stats. Had the Knicks not traded Mark Jackson, not only would they have kept a floor general that could have helped them win a ring, they would have scored more fast-paced transition baskets leading to more possessions per game, and higher counting stats for the Big Fella.

I always said for every time Ewing got a posterized he went up and blocked shots 4 or 5 times. And a big man dunking on somebody or blocking a shot nobody cares.
