Some people have no idea how good Patrick was, no joke. He was a beast. Knicks vs bulls and Jordan was epic. I wonder if he still mad by missing that layup. I was so happy but, he wasn't. Lol. Mad respect to this legend.
What I love about Shaq is he can be the most egomaniac, sensitive guy but also could become the humblest person you'll ever talk to. No wonder he's still relevant these days. Great player but even more greater personality
Patrick Ewing introduced basketball to his home country #Jamaica 🇯🇲 when he got drafted by Georgetown in ‘84. We loved Patrick & Basketball since! The first Jamaican & 2nd Caribbean player in the NBA. #JamaicaMagic
One of the things that I Love most about Patrick Ewing is how humble he is. He doesn't have to toot his own horn he lets others do that for him. He likes to build people up without putting them down.
watching this has made my day.. patrick is my all time favorite player.. and his battles with shaq were so much fun to watch.. even when they lost.. and shaq has become one of my favorite sports personalities over the years........ i love this vid..
This is a great show. First time seeing it. Concept is awesome, hosts are asking interesting questions, vibe is relatively relaxed for a new show... Awesome, I'm a fan.
He shoulda came out after his sophmore season. He was 23 when he started his NBA career. He probably wanted to be the number one overall pick, then again things were different back then. Like u said his knees n ultimately his athleticism were pretty much shot by the time he was 31-32.
@@Blodia1990 he’s not. You can go to wiki or even other interviews and he tells you his bio dad is AA/ADOS. His stepdad is Jamaican and that’s who raised him.
You know what’s crazy? Patrick Ewing and Shaq are the same height. It’s like Shaq is another Ewing and he looked up to him his whole life. Ewing inspired Shaq to be one of the greatest! That’s his idol.
Great player @ Georgetown but a way better player as a professional with the Knicks. Not even close; Better shooter, better post moves, just all around better on offense with the same rebounding and defensive tenacity.
@@3MUnique He was much more improved offensively in the NBA , although he showed flashes in college, but his defensive intensity went down a few notches in the pros. He was the most intimidating player ( defensively) in NCAA history. Regardless one thing we must agree on is that he ALWAYS gave 100% effort whenever he was on the court.
@@missayawk in the pros ur looking at the best 400+ players in the world every night. The competition just goes up. I don’t think his defense slipped at all. Pat Riley also built defensive front lines around him 2 prevent him from being in foul trouble every night. No doubt we agree he left it all on the floor. No 1 will ever say he cheated the game and didn’t give 100% of himself.
For such a small country and diaspora around the world Jamaicans seem to produce a fair amount of great athletes with insane athleticism. I guess their common ancestor has been busy.
Those who remember, a player from that era who was before his time was Ralph Sampson! For those who don’t know RUclips him. 7’4 and would thrive in this era now. He was criticized by all because his game wasn’t like most bigs at that time. He would thrive in today’s game. Knee problems and other issues shortened his career. Also, the Rockets drafted Olajuwon and they played and got to the Championship in 86 but got beat by the Celtics. It worked for a while but everyone wanted him to change his game to be more of “true center” at the time.
It's on RUclips somewhere. During the 1986-87season, the Houston Rockets were playing the Boston Celtics at the famed Boston Garden. By accident, Ralph Sampson's career was ended when he fell awkwardly on the floor attempting to grab a rebound. His fall was so bad that the medics carefully put him on a stretcher in the exact position he was laying on the floor. Ralph was never the same after that bad landing.
Yeh! Big up big Pat Ewing Aka Junglist! Pat Ewing is from the tough Inner city community of Jones Town in Kingston Jamaica 🇯🇲 🇯🇲🇯🇲 that’s where the he gets that toughness and meanness that you saw from him on the court! I still feel if we would’ve had graham in 85 we might would’ve won it again. That championship game is still hard for a lot of us from dc to this day to watch.
Shaq has always said Hakeem was his favorite. Now he says it was Ewing? I don't believe it. I lived in Orlando when Shaq came into the league, and I'm convinced those two genuinely disliked each other. Ewing heard all the talk about how great Shaq was and he was annoyed by it, and Shaq didn't feel that Ewing respected him because he was a rookie. Anyway, glad they like each other now.

what an incredibly nice guy Ewing is...he definitely should be invited more!!!
And super underrated.
I love how they let Shaq and Pat talk first. Thats what we’re here for, to hear both of them talk
Pat had a sweet midrange game, had all kinds of moves and countermoves on the block, and on top of that was also a defensive monster.
Facts 💯

I've always said if Charles Barkley was on the Knicks playing the four next to Ewing instead of Mason/Oakley. They would have won two or three titles.
