- In this difficult time of the Covid, Covid 19, coronavirus, which ever you prefer to call it, staying at home has never been easier, especially when you're an introvert. But what happens when you're someone who is extroverted or ambivert? Do you think staying at home would be difficult? None the less, if you’ve been keeping up with the Myers-Briggs Indicator Type trend, then you’re probably familiar with introversion and extraversion. But sometimes personality tests, although they mean well and have helped with career-building and personal development, they can still be...well...very black and white. In a perfect world, we’d only have to worry about two options. But, people are more fluid than that, and sometimes, things can get messy. What does it mean to be an introvert, extrovert, or ambivert?

Myers Briggs test has % breakdown actually. I'm about 60% introverted but I identify more as introvert than ambivert. I guess if your introvert/extrovert trait is less than 60%, you're an ambivert.
Well ambivert aren't real. You can never get a 50 50. But if an ambivert does exist EVERYONE would be one! And that would make 0 sense. If you're more leaning to one side, CHOOSE IT! Omfg

i think people who are more borderline extrovert/introvert want to have something to call themselves, but really everyone is a combination of introvert/extrovert. some people are more introverted than others and hence, call themselves introverts. it kinda bothers me that no one really understands that.

Being an ambivert isn't really best of both worlds. If you're not good at figuring out what energises and drains you then it's sort of like being on a rollercoaster. You might think seeing someone or doing something will energise you but it drains you instead. And then other times you might be really energised unexpectedly at an event you didn't want to go to. You're always juggling how much social interaction. Not enough and you feel drained. Too much and you feel drained. Some alone time regains energy. And other alone time is draining.

I have no irl friends in my grade or age-range, and I can only really, like actually talk to people I'm close with. Everyone judges me for being quiet. It's no fun to be terrified in social situations. And the fact is that none of this is even made up, it totally sounds like something made up to use for attention. And some do use it for attention, but I legitimately cannot talk to people. I know how pathetic it sounds, and it is. But I couldn't start a conversation to save my life. I wish I was an introverted extrovert. But being a total introvert is the worst sometimes. And extroverts are ALWAYS wondering why I'm alone. Intoverts also over think EVERYTHING.

It'd explain why I became 100% an ambivert when I made friends with similar interests, but was the most introverted person ever when I had no one.
Because of this, I'd say I just got used to being alone and can now adapt to both cases.

Having strict parents causes me to stay home and be a hermit most times but whenever I do get to go out, I’m pretty talkative.
Since I’ve grown up alone along with the strict parents, I have some introvert traits too.
Yes! I stayed home and would barely hang out but I now enjoy being around people but I also get burnt out if I am out for too long. It's also hard to find people who understand me because I can go from quiet to talkative or from alone times to socializing time fast.

Even as an ambivert, quarantine has affected me in the same way as an introvert. Except sometimes when I do wish I had my friends with me
Thank you that really clarified a lot for me!! People tend to think I'm an introvert which I do enjoy my alone or one on one time but I also enjoy going out and socializing and have no problem speaking my mind but that can't be daily I get burnt out thanks for the insight very helpful!

I actually recently took a personality test.
I knew I was an extrovert, but what surprised me was how ambiverted.
I was more towards extrovertion, but a 55% extraversion and 45% introversion.
I got 100% introverted
I got the opposite version of that lol I got 55 introversion and 45 extroversion.
I've been thinking about this for a long time, I thought I was an introvert until I got comfortable at school and became an extrovert.
I switch between the two sometimes, so maybe I'm a ambivert

The ambivert description is very interesting. I resonated with that the most.
When it comes to socializing, personally it just depends on the person. I love group settings because as much as I love talking, I hate carrying conversations. I’m really bad at one on ones for that reason, so that’s when it depends on the person. I get socially anxious whenever I feel like the conversation isn’t bouncing back and fourth, so as long as they can contribute as much as I am then it’s perfectly fine, but that’s not very often so it’s almost always awkward.
Even though I'm a Ambivert, I actually had to teach myself a lot about social settings and things like that, I still have a lot of my Introverted traits, but I don't think those traits are gonna leave me any time soon, so I wear them with pride
I feel very wierd around strangers but I am quite confident and comfortable around the people.who I know well and whom I have spent time with . But I am better at my seat watching other people play party games rather than actually playing them . Not what am I?

Definitely an Ambivert, I enjoy being with people but I also enjoy my time alone. Sometimes I get pissed/bored/frustrated when friends/family pushes me to do stuff when I want to be on my own (I learned to say NO but sometimes makes them think I don't care about them but I do).
I NEED to be alone sometimes even if I enjoy being around people around people I love or new ones. I'm also really not shy with new people.
I definitely relate to the calendar planning "ME TIME", and that kinda makes me hate Xmas and New Year sometimes because my family tend to organize reunions for all 4 days (24th, 25th, 31st, 1st) in a freaking week and "please I wanna be alone / 4 days is too much" sounds bad to others in those days

I’m definitely an ambivert I love to be social, bounce off my ideas other peoples ideas and are confident with most of my decisions but I think when I speak most of the time, I love my single player games and love writing

I once took a myers-briggs personality test and I was on the fence for everything except the fact that I'm an introvert.
I took the Myers Briggs test once, and it said that I am 60% extroverted and 40% introverted.
@@theweirdo2005 i took it and my result was that I'm 85% introvert, 15% extrovert.
When I hang out with my friends and they bring someone i don't know, I just keep quiet.

I was an introvert up until late high school year. I started having job interviews, volunteering events etc. and those require social interactions. It is more like I'm being "forced" to include some extroversion in my personality but that is not neccesarily a bad thing for me.

The more I read, and on RUclips listen, the more I think I am an ambivert. When I was younger, I was much further out on the introversion scale. But over several decades, I Have Become more outgoing but still enjoy being by myself. There are people who have met me with in the past 10 years who will swear there's no way that I can be an introvert! But people who have known me 20 years or more, know for sure I am.
This is that simple! Be in the moment live in it; and move forward. Remember 3 things. Benefit of the Doubt, Pick Your battles, and Mind Your own Business.

I am so glad to have discovered this. I always assumed I'm a social introvert (I may be still) but there is a great chance I'm not. I love socializing with people but also love being home alone. If I'm not home alone enough I get tired or I think too much about how tired I'll be when going with friends. But at work I'm full of energy and ready to talk to everyone. Life's great mysteries, but I need not fit in a box.
