I was getting nervous towards the end of the video and nothing seemed to be going anywhere but pulled through at the end with calling the fan and footage of a working oem one. Phew!! Awesome job as always!!
Thanks for giving us closure by showing the solution worked. Interesting information about having to subscribe for diagnostic tool and having to have internet connection.
I agree most times, it's cheaper to buy a new tool than to update them. The Otofix D1 is $119 a year after 2 years so at least the cost on some of the cheaper tools came down quite a bit.
Good to see you still active Spelunkerd. Fully agree. The right to repair path is fraught with intentional blocks put up by manufacturers, an absolute joke. Well hopefully the financial pain some of them are experiencing and their blatant gouging of regular people will be a lesson for all. Louis Rossman is fighting the good fight, happy to see yourself and others feel the same way. Stay gold.
Excellent video, thank you. If you tap into the twisted pair under the hood and jump it to the OBD port break out box pin 6 and 14, will it bypass the secured gateway?
@@advancedleveldiagnostics Thank you for the reply. You are doing a great job with your videos; I watch all of them and recommend them to all the techs I know.
The air shutter on these have 2 different styles. The pin is populated in two different areas of the connector and you need to get the factory replacement harness because on some of them, the pin it needs has been blocked off. You can't even de-pin and move the pin because it simply doesn't exist on the connector. Some of these can be a pain if you don't work on these every day.
My first time getting stuck on an active grill shutter, I was so fed up with the car after calling the new air shutter bad. I took a small drill bit and unblocked the connector then I switched the pins around 😉
Good to know! I assumed it wouldn't work because my snap on, autel and a launch didn't work out of subscription. If I don't update in time I'll give it a shot. Thank you!
I think 2017 was the first year. It's not every vehicle only the ones with a secure gateway module. for example, the grand caravans don't have one even in 2021.
@@advancedleveldiagnostics I bought one and used on my daughters 2020 Willis Jeep was able to clear codes but was having trouble using bidirectional 🤷🏼♂️ using launch x431pro3
Could you have just jumped power and ground to the fan and pulled signal wire down to ground with a power probe to 100% prove fan didn't work? Just curious. I learn a lot from your videos ...short simple and to the point you're up there with scanner Danner and diagnose dan.
That probably would of worked, the reason why I was trying the other signal is because I was worried maybe the wiring was supposed to be switched around as some Pacificas. Before I condemned it I did try pulling both pins down with a test light and even giving my own pwm signal in case grounding it wouldn't be good enough to tell the module to turn on.Thank for watching!
Good display of "following the data". Tough sometimes to convince the shop that the "NEW" part is junk. But covering you basis gives confidence in your call! Thanks for sharing!
I once had a dealer Nissan AFR sensor and a Denso AFR purchased from Autozone with a defective heater circuit. Both bought within days of each other for the same vehicle.
I'm kinda glad, Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep is losing money. Not only are their cars overpriced and not very good, but are charging people to be able to use a scan tool. That's what happens when you're money hungry.
Not so fast. As a foreigner I don't understand you well because you don't speak clearly and you speed up your video so it's difficult top read subtitles. 😫

Unfortunately everything is subscription based. Makes it nice for a diy’r but for the every day mechanic gets expensive 😢
So many subscriptions in my life.😢
I'm surprised there isn't more protest about requiring subscription. It pretty much excludes DIY use, subscriptions are way too expensive.

Still at it and still looking good!!! Just checking in!!
Thanks Jeff, appreciate it!!
Whats the brand and model of that little scope you used, that would be so handy

I'm wondering if the aftermarket fan had the wrong pins for power and ground.
Excellent video, thank you.
If you tap into the twisted pair under the hood and jump it to the OBD port break out box pin 6 and 14, will it bypass the secured gateway?
Yes it will, they sell bypass cables for the key tools that plug into the star connector to bypass the gateway.

Great video!! Just curious did the oem fan have 3 or 4 wires?
Thanks! The OEM also had 4 wires.
Well done 👍
Thanks!

Great video. I know they changed wiring on fuel pumps on FCA vehicles. So that was a good guess
My first time getting stuck with it was an Active grill shutter.
Nice work, what scope are you making use of?
Leolov 2-channel oscilloscope

Another one ☝️ out of the park great job
Thanks!
Aftermarket parts are the worst. Did you make the red protector for the headlight bulb? Thats pretty cool.
No, its from Jarheaddiagnostics.

He also makes just the cover with out the test light.
My topdon subscription expired 2 months ago. Still got into a 2019 jeep Cherokee without using the bypass cable. Next one you get try your topdon

When did FCA start requiring autoauth? Not too long ago I did a 2015 Journey without any paywall.

Have you ever used the bypass cable? I know it would take you more time but just curious
I never used it for diagnostics, but for key programming with my autel im608 it's the only way.

Yea that sipsription thing sucks but I think it pays for itself in the long run bro.
I agree; if you are a professional, it doesn't make sense to bypass it every time.

Your brand new part is junk
True, but the shop is also happy that they made the correct diagnosis.

How much is that little scope?
I have that scope it works great; I think I paid around 160 at amazon
It's usually $130 on Amazon, It's on sale right now for $110.
