  • Throughout the off season the Murray Bridge Speedway Club and a bunch of hard-working volunteers have been working overtime in a series of Working Bee's to ensure that the 360-meter track has the latest upgrades which include a new 6-meter-tall fence which is measured from the track to the top of the catch fence. The other major upgrade is the new LED lighting system designed by VAILO.
This is the third major upgrade in the history of the venue since opening in 1958. In 1977 the track had its first major over hall and was increased to 300 meters featuring a dolomite racing surface which was friendly to both bike and car Speedway. At the end of the 1998 season the track was then increased again in length and width to 360 meters and an abundance of Clay was added to the racing surface as the club had then decided to move in a different direction and that it was the right time to attract Sprintcars and other high-profile events such as World Series Sprintcars to the venue. Also, the highly acclaimed Ross Wright Function Center / VIP Club Room.

The club has invested a lot of time and money into the upgrades. It's a shame that Made to go has put admission up so much when people are struggling to make ends meet..

@@Paris_Charles club show to watch up on viewing deck cost me $40.00. Speed week will cost $55.00. Next weekend is the same both nights. No wonder there weren't many people there for the opening night.

Something tells me that you don't have much time for Sprintcar Politics?
Because that's what it comes down to. They see more bums on seats at a Sprintcar meeting and then their palms start to get itchy for that "filthy Luca" coming in the gates, and then you get a few of them on the committee, and before you know, the bikes get sidelined for the Sedan/Speedcar/Sprintcar mix at the meetings.

I am so sorry to hear this happened to you and also other bike people. Speedway City is no longer an active track and the land has been sold.
Please feel free to watch some of my other videos to see what is left of Speedway City.
