I needed to see this. I have been so concerned about my foam coming unglued inside the cushions. In the short term, it appears I have nothing to worry about. Not sure about long term.
The glue does slightly firm up the section that is bonded, but once a cover fabric is applied it is very difficult, it not impossible, for the occupant to find the glued section of foam be feel alone. The practice of glueing sections of foam together is common and usually expected for large to medium seating foam applications.
I am using polyurethane in a unique application, and I am looking for a glue that might work to permanently secure a thin vinyl sheet to bare polyurethane, would you recommend trying this glue first?
To prevent spray nozzle from blocking, at the end of each day, turn the can upside down and press tip until spray is clear from adhesive. Sorry, no mini cans.
does the adhesive dry to a pliable or stiff texture? Is it noticeably stiffer than the sections of foam it is gluing together? and you feel the seam is stiffer than the surrounding foam?
The glue is so thin that you will not feel the glue section when the cushion cover is applied to the foam. The only possible person who may, is the fabricator, since they know where the seam is, but no one else will be able to feel it without a ton of effort.
@@SailriteDIY The reason why i ask is because I have a foam mattress that has a memory foam topper. I had to take off the cover to cut it down to a different size and the memory foam did not bond well to parts and in some sections even tore. So I wanted to re-bond it and perhaps somehow repair the tear in the memory foam before putting on another cover over the foam. I am going to put on a zippered encasement as a cover. the size is not snog over the mattress, so this makes it especially useful if i can rebond the parts that car coming up or that have torn.
@@SailriteDIY i am wondering if i don't have a lot to bond.. if i could use a squirt bottle of regular polyurethane liquid glic to create a bond.. perhaps not a full bond of all the foam surface?
I have never used it on memory foam, so I am not sure how it will work on that. For an MSDS you can email documents@sailrite.com and ask for the Foam Lock Spray Adhesive MSDS
Yes, I have used it with Naugahyde and glued the vinyl fabric to a wooden surface with great success. I have not tried it on a Naugahyde to foam application. It should be tested to see results before that is done. I know it would bond, but if it is sat on several times, would the fabric still look good????
@@SailriteDIY have you found any alternative products that work nearly as good or maybe even better than the NG1633? Such as Gorilla Heavy Duty Spray Adhesive or?
We do not sell those brands so we do not know, sorry. Here is our chart for comparisons of what we carry: www.sailrite.com/Choosing-Right-Spray-Adhesive Scroll to the bottom to see the chart.
So which one is the best for memory foam. (This clip didn't exactly answer my question) I have a mattress topper that was stored incorrectly (folded instead of rolled up)and it ripped in about 3 pieces. I need it where it's stuck together to be as soft as the memory foam is normally because the rips run across the bed where I need the support for my spine.
Yes, it may be possible to use Foam Lock Spray Adhesive to bond foam to plastic, just do some testing first. If this is a headliner application use 3M General Trim Adhesive instead.

Great! Let us know if you have any questions about any of our projects or products.

As long as Zach doesn't come in and try to pull it apart with his shoe it should be good
Exactly what I needed! Great vid!
Does the foam keep is softness and flexibility after glued together? Or do the glued sections harden up?
The glue does slightly firm up the section that is bonded, but once a cover fabric is applied it is very difficult, it not impossible, for the occupant to find the glued section of foam be feel alone. You are welcome!

Is that spray adhesive can be used to stick foam with Mild steel sheet?
It might work, but you should test it first. We have not tested it with a steel sheet and foam.
Could this attach foam padding to the inside of a plastic case?
It should work well for that.
How do I keep spray adhesive can from clogging the first project or what do you recommend for one time use/mini cans? Do they exist?
To prevent spray nozzle from blocking, at the end of each day, turn the can upside down and press tip until spray is clear from adhesive. Sorry, no mini cans.
Can this glue stick foam to a wall?
Is it good for a polyethylene foam?

I have no idea how to answer that question, sorry. You would have to test it out. If it were me I would try 3M Super Trim.

How does this adhesive compare to contact cement and does it smell as bad?
It is much easier to apply than contact cement and has very little smell. I love it!
Awesome, would this also work to adhere fabric to foam? Like naugahyde to very firm foam.
