    Wow! This is a really cool technique for stylized animation. You can also add a "simple deform" modifier with a noise modifier in the graph editor, and it will create the effect that the skirt is blowing in the wind

    WTF??????????????????? It makes ABSOLUTELY no sense, but hey, a trick is a trick and this is 10.000 times better then weight painting (as well because I really mess it up all the time). Thanks a ton, anisculpt, thank you SO MUCH

      It's not explained well how it works. But afaik the mesh deformer is autoweighted to the rig, and the meshdeformer deforms the skirt. I guess it's just acting as a buffer. Pretty clever, shame it wont work outside of blender since it relys on a modifier

    I was looking for a movement of the skirt when I lifted my character's leg, and you helped me, it really became something more "natural" so to speak, I only had a problem with the back that ended up sticking out of the skirt, something that didn't happen with the front of the skirt.

      Hi, I will recommend Masking those parts which are not visible, so that it does not interrupt the rig..
      {First}- Add a vertex group in the object which is popping out of the skirt ( Select the vertices of that part and click remove from the vertex group & Press ctrl + i and assign in the vertex group )
      [ Note - Only the vertices assigned will be visible ]
      {Second}- Add mask modifier in the same object and choose the vertex group..
      Hope this will help..

    • @3DAnimation-Sculpting
      @3DAnimation-Sculpting  Год назад +1

      Yeah it will take a lot of time adding modifiers to many boxes.. that's why I will recommend using this trick only when you are unable to fix the weight paint.. the body of the characters should be rigged normally.

    In the viewport, it looks great, and all the motion is applied in the animation, but when rendering, the skirt remains immobile, as if the blind applied in the middle of the scene didn't take effect. Do you know why this could be happening?. Thank you by the way

    • @machineelpoppy1918
      @machineelpoppy1918 Год назад

      I could probably help with that? If the character never changes or takes off their pants, then you can just add it to the base mesh! Make a copy if you wanna be safe but just delete the parts of the body where the body is hidden by the clothes and connect the vertices to the body.
      But if you need it to be a separate mesh, you can transfer mesh data (kaideart made a good video for it) and do minor fixes for anything that sticks out

    So is there a reason why using a lattice wouldn't work the same way?

    • @3DAnimation-Sculpting
      @3DAnimation-Sculpting  Год назад +1

      Yes, You can use lattice too to deform the mesh with it.. But for that adding mesh deform modifier won't work, So you will have to add Lattice modifier instead in the mesh and then pick the object as Lattice in it. Then, it will surely work similarly..

    • @3DAnimation-Sculpting
      @3DAnimation-Sculpting  5 месяцев назад +1

      Select the box and go to edit mode and press A. Now go to Object data properties tab and you will see all the bones parented to the mesh under "Vertex Group". Just search for the bone name which is giving you problems and then click on the "Remove" option below. The weight of that bone will be removed.
      It's easier than going into Weight paint mode.

    meh this method is cool for quickly posing sculpts but after that, no in game implementation, very limited in animation range, you shouldn't have put "Right way to rig a skirt" in the title as there's not right way in art, and if there was we are far from it. Still a clever trick for sculpt though!
