I've never owned a PS3 before, because I had an Xbox 360 during that generation. So just recently, I bought a used PS3 which is the original launch model that's fully backwards compatible. I got it because it can play PS1, PS2, and PS3 games. It's been great and I'm looking forward to trying out games on it. A save lists from videos like this so I know what games to get! :)
I collect for the PlayStation 3. Its one of my favorite systems ever. I agree with you on every point on Uncharted 2. My favorite level is the falling city. My favorite PS3 games list would take some time to bring up. Lollipop Chainsaw , Batman Arkham City , Uncharted 2 , and Deadpool would be 4 on it for sure.
I got another four for you to consider and rival your 4. No order. Metal gear solid 4, last of us, assassin creed 3, alien isolation. Alot of great games on ps3 and these 4 are all different style gameplay.

I really loved Enslaved. The atmosphere of the game is fantastic.
It's such a shame that Enslaved didn't sell well because I would have loved to see a sequel on more capable hardware! :(
@RetroBreak Ninja Theory actually floated the idea of a sequel to EnSlaved to the point of concept art and some pre-production but then Guerrilla games released Horizon Zero Dawn in February of 2017 and asked themselves “How the hell do we compete with that?!?” 🙄
You quite literally couldn't pay me to play Beyond Two Souls or any game, like it. I'd watch a movie, if I wanted to watch a movie...
I never understood that argument, no movie can tell a story over 10 - 20 hours and give you branching narratives and different endings like a game can, reading a book would be a much better analogy. But even then you don't get the interactivity or multiple branching paths as a game like beyond two souls. I think games are just as much a good medium for narrative as any other. Games don't just have to be action and challenge.
Man, what a refreshing list. Some I love, and a number I haven’t even played! A nice change of pace from the cookie cutter choices most people choose.

Sengoku Basara::Samurai Heroes,Yakuza: Dead Souls, and The House of the Dead Overkill, and Tekken Hybrid are a few of my favorites on PS3.
Thanks for putting this together! I bought a PS3 on a whim in 2014 well after the PS4 launched and never really had the opportunity to accumulate much of a library for it. I feel I missed a fair bit.
Hope this helped you get an idea for some games to play on it! :D it’s super cheap to collect for at the minute so do it while you can! :D most games have ages pretty well too!
The PS3 has my only console for a long time, so I have very fond memories of the console!I have a lengthy wishlist of games for it now that I’m collecting, and I’ll definitely have to check out some of these! Super fun to see some of your past cosplays as well!

Yeah it’s such a shame :( at least the old ones are still fun to go back to, and SSX 3 plays fantastic on the Xbox one with backwards compatibility in 4K!

So cool to hear you are into Atelier games...I prefer the ones without the time mechanic. I absolutely loved Enslaved which I played on 360 and yes the ending was great. Eternal Sonata was excellent although I played only on 360. Great video and good list choices.

I just started buying a ps3 and collecting but wow the amount of nostalgic games that were on it are still awesome till this day😌
Some top pics here, especially the driving games. PS3 bit tinged for me, still a fan of the system but Ridge 7 was so amazing I never found a better game in all the PS3's life.

Great selection, i also enjoyed Rayman origins, gran turismo 5 and ratchet & clank a crack in time
I had Rayman origins on the wii, it was amazing! Should get the PS3 version for the HD graphics!
My top picks are Dark Souls and Demons Souls, Yakuza 3-5, MGS4 and Rising, RE5, and Ninja Gaiden 1-3 :)
Got my system on release day for £425 along with Sonic, Genji enemy crab, and Riiiiidge Racer!

I still have my PS3 connected to my TV. It's in my entertainment centre, in the same place it's been since 2007. The Wii and 360 are long gone but the PS3 is still there, next to my Switch, PS5 and Series X. Games I still want to play on my PS3 are Tales of Graces f, Tales of Xillia 1&2, Deadly Premonition, 3D Dot Game Heroes, No More Heroes, (another playthrough of) MGS4 and a few others. It's also an awesome Blu-ray player with an excellent Bluetooth media remote. Amazing console.
Singularity, vanquish, uncharted series, Suda 51 games, max Payne 3, motor storm series, resistance series, Yakuza dead souls, super street fighter ultra, Mortal Kombat, Dead space series, Simpsons, family guy, Dante's inferno, condemned 2. Just sooo many. For the first true hd systems that graphically still holds up today.
Totally agree with Enslaved and Lollipop Chainsaw. I would say my top is probably 3D Dot Game Heroes, with Bulletstorm and Splatterhouse in there too.
I need to get 3D dot heroes soon! the price keeps going up!
@@RetroBreak 3D Dot Heroes is a rare and expensive game nowadays. I wish you luck obtaining a physical copy. It's a really fun game and I love it! It's amazing how this game hasn't been remastered on PS4 or PS5.
I love with Splatterhouse that you can play the original games as unlockables. Bulletstorm kinda reminds me of Doom (2016) and Doom Eternal. It's cool how you can play as Duke Nukem in the game too.

I still have my PS3 and unfortunately it gets very little use these days. Great games as you’ve listed but many have been ported, remastered or remade for PlayStation, Switch, and Xbox Series, the latter being a god send for back compat especially with FPS Boost.
The ones that I need my PS3 for are the Ratchet and Clank games, Sly 1 to 4, God of Wars collection remasters, and of course Eternal Sonata, to name a few.
Maybe I should do a follow up with just exclusive games that haven’t been ported! There’s loads of great stuff on the system! :)
Really great list and video. I love my PS3 and still prefer playing it to my PS4 (due to that damn noisy fan in PS4)
My PS4 isn't noisy. It seems there is a line produced that has this issue, since a lot of people have this issue and a lot never have this issue
Beyond Two Souls is an underrated hidden gem, I just liked Heavy Rain more. 🙄😉 I like some of your picks but I have two go with GOW 3, KillZone 2, Infamous 2, Blur, Red Dead Redemption, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 plus Deus Ex Human Revolution! However I Love TLOU! It is in my Top 5 Games of All Time! Plus I didn't play Tomb Raider reboot until I got it for my PS4. Still that is a great game but I give ROTTR the Edge!
Also some people Love the first Dead Space more but I think 2 is one of the Greatest games EVER produced or Made! 🤨😎
Little Big Planet was up there.It was the Game bundled in with my PS3.Amazing never played anything like it

For a JRPG I would recommend Tales of Xillia 1. I've never played it's sequel, though. I got too into PS4 lol. But if you've not played it yet, seek it out. A beautiful cell shaded art style, anime characters with lots of personality, and plenty of depth to the combat.

ModNation Racers is my favorite PS3 game. Played it online for hundreds of hours. It was a blast.
I never played it on PS3 but I have it on my PS Vitas, great cart racer!
You should make more top 15s in other systems. I can't find a top 15 SNES games, that would be cool to see!

Enslaved was also released on PC, which might be the best way to play the game in 2022. I only installed it to my Steam Deck today, as is even is Deck verified. :)

Great list, I just recently started getting into PS3 game collecting (I was a 360 kid back in the day) and I have started building up my collection. For the life of me though that game in the background, the one beside the Kingdom Hearts collection, I feel like i have seen before but I cannot make out the name. Would someone be able to let me know what it is?

Good system overall and got much better as the years went by. Tho to be fair the Ps2 wasn't that great when it started but ended greatly to.

So many PS3 games are available elsewhere now, but I remember at the time wishing I had one so I could play then-exclusives like Journey, Ni No Kuni, and Sly Cooper.

You MUST play SSX 3, the best of all!! In addition to your list I recommend you Spec Ops The line and Max Payne 3, two underrated games!

I will still argue Enslaved has a better story than Hellblade. I absolutely love the world and story building done in that game, and the ending is so grossly misunderstood. It is a beautiful game and one of my personal favorites from that era.
Remember when Blu-Ray players were more expensive than the PS3? It was a no-brainer to buy the PS3.

The homeless section of Beyond Two Souls still one of my favourite parts in gaming.
Some very good games but thinking back resistance 3 was very good to.
Demon's Souls should get an honourable mention not only as a great game but also as game exclusive to the PS3 making it a rare gem.
A lot of my favourite PS3 games also came out on Xbox 360 but nevermind!
GTA IV - people take it for granted now but when this came out, as with GTA III, it was THE reason I bought the PS3. Looked so damn realistic at the time (and honestly have graphics improved THAT much since 2008? I don't think so). And it was such a contrast to Vice City and San Andreas with their wacky elements like jetpacks and such. Just such a heavy story at the time.
Bioshock Infinite - I first played this game during lockdown having never played a Bioshock game before (so a lot of content kinda puzzled me at first). Still haven't played 1 or 2 yet though. All I could say was...wtf is this all about!
Gran Turismo 6 - haven't completed it (yet) but definitely my favourite in the series apart from GT4 ... and it still looks absolutely incredible. I question why anyone would need to play GT on PS4 or PS5 if they already have this but eh!
Take this from a "gamer" who hardly has time to play any games (when I do I spend more time watching RUclipsrs talk about or play games. Kinda easier too haha!). I do own most of games in this video but just haven't got round to playing them yet (not Atelier nor Lollipop Chainsaw - don't have those).

Lollipop Chainsaw is a Suda51 game so it's hardly surprising it plays a bit like NMH.

@@RetroBreakDon’t get me wrong, I appreciate the deviation from the norm, & hey I like Metroid Other M, Star Fox Zero, & Metroid Prime Federation force,(course they wouldn’t be making the list), but I’m surprised maligned games like Dead space 3 & B2S made it, & even lollipop chainsaw, as this the 15 BEST games. But from what I see from the list is an emphasis on cinematic narrative gaming,……which is Sony’s specialty as of late, but in the ps2 it seemed like their games were also about gameplay, making the ps2 a better sell. Course I am uncertain about the quality of the 7th gen altogether.

Here's my favourite ps3 games. Kingdom Hearts 1.5 +2.5, Persona 5, Ni no Kuni, Sleeping Dogs, Assassins Creed, Tomb Raider, Uncharted 3, Beyond two souls, Heavy Rain, Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. I tried out last of Us And GTA5 but couldn't get past the 1st levels 🤔
I don’t have a PS3, but I actually bought Child of Eden and Eternal Sonata for 360 this Thursday😀

BTW I still love my SSX3 and Timesplitters 2 and 3 on my Gamecube.
They are both amazing! Shame that Nintendo doesn’t really have a series like either of those any more :(
Nintendo had Whitestorm for SSX and Perfect Dark from Rare, as well as Eternal Darkness for survival horror and even Pikmin. All of these have joined Ice Climber and Mother in abject obscurity. Nintendo sits on a goldmine but does nothing with any of it, save Zelda Metroid and Mario.

Not your fault, how many are exposed to random French loanwords, but Atelier is pronounced "uh·teh·lee·ay", it means workshop, particularly that of a artist or craftsman.
Had the series on my radar, but never played any of them.
I've tried to sort out in my mind - and on Open Office sheets - what my top twenties for various consoles are, including many you've covered. I've found myself changing the order, and even entire games off and on the list every time I look at the document (with a select few that rarely leave*). I could see maybe Paradise and SSX getting to the lower rungs of the list, but, as I said, I often reappraised the list every couple of months. Same with the question of what your top ten 10/10 games were, I've struggled with coming up with 10 games I'd award that score to (at the moment I have only nine 10/10 candidates).
*Tetris for instance, has never left my top 10 GB games.
Are you sure it’s not just pronounced like that in France? In the games they pronounce it the same as I did.. you should try playing some they are really relaxing and unique games with some really nice music and characters!
@@RetroBreak According to both Cambridge and Webster's English Dictionaries it pronounced the same in English - and American English - as it is in France.
I kind of wonder if things got lost as Koei Tecmo translated the word into Japanese, then the localisation team re-translated that into English.
I'll keep an eye out for the games and grab copies where I can.
Dead Space was the best game on PS3 for me

Excellent selection of games. Really like your tops. Some others that I really enjoyed are: Scott Pilgrim, Puppeteer, Vanquish, Metal Gear Revengeance, Rayman Legends, DuckTales Remastered, Valkyria Chronicles, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, Dragon's Crown, 3D Dot Game Heroes, Bioshock Infinite and Deadly Premonition.

It makes me laugh when people say the PS3 was an expensive glorified blu-ray player even though it was around half the price of some blu-ray players that didn't have as big of a hard drive (or any for that matter), didn't have a web browser, didn't rip CDs to your player, didn't store pictures or videos.
I was just a dumb kid, I didn’t know how much a bluray player was!
Mann the ps3 is just awesome absolutely awesome the games wete so far ahead of there time that even today we are still playing the games and enjoying them more than most ps4 ps5 game's.
I imagine these games are going to be highly collectable in the near future im going to buy everything now before the prices go crazy..
Uncharted 1, still a great game.
I heard that beyond two souls doesn't work like heavy rain. I played Heavy Rain and every decision changes the game and multiple characters die if you make the wrong decision and the story goes on. This makes replaying show different outcomes. I hear Beyond Two Souls has none of this so decisions don't change the story. Let me know if this is wrong because I really like Heavy Rain and would try the other if decisions change the game.
Playing uncharted on ps5 never played uncharted and I was on ps3 from 2010 - 2016
The first years of 7th gen, Xbox 360 was king. But I remember being envious of my cousins who had PS3s while I had the 360 when the PS3 was slowly taking over. With titles such as Uncharted, The Last of Us, Metal Gear Solid 4, the God of War games, Infamous, etc., PS3's victory was becoming more obvious. I spent the majority of the 7th gen with the Xbox 360 but I can admit the PS3 just had better games.
I felt the same, but by the end the PS3 was definitely the better system, some multi format games in the first few years were better on the 360 but devs learned how to use the console better over time
@@RetroBreak same thoughts. I think the Kinect was the final nail in the coffin for the 360. Microsoft focused more into it while Sony was busy making these well-made games that would eventually become their entire identity (cinematic experiences). Even sales suggest PS3 won. 360 sold more in the beginning, but PS3 outsold it eventually.
I’m always surprised to see that the 360 sold the least by the end of the gen considering how strong it was to begin with!
I got the red light of death yesterday on my ps3 fat, can’t get anyone to fix it. They say it’s not worth fixing Belfast area. It’s a sin to scrap it. I need help

I live near Belfast and when my original PS3 got the light I managed to fix it with a hairdryer and a cardboard box. Honestly! Look it up :) Hope you get it working!

I played most of these, really didn’t like Sonic Generations or Beyond Souls that much..
Just for fun I'll include some of my favorites that didn't make the list, shadows of the damned, puppeteer, rain, house of the dead overload, need for speed the run :)
