This is a perfect example of a game that can get bad reviews but still be special to those who owned it. Not as good as SF64, but the multiplayer was awesome. More games should let you stand atop a moving ship to fire a missle launcher!

This was such a fantastic game. I was extremely happy with everything they did with this. I hope they do another Star Fox game like this sometime, though Nintendo seems VERY afraid of touching Star Fox OR Metroid for some reason!

1. It reduces the risk to the cornerian fleet. 2. There are many advantages to a utilizing a small elite team over a massive army. 3. The amount of money Starfox charges is far less then the cost of rebuilding and repairing any losses to the cornerian fleet. 4. it saves cornerian lives.

They have in no way been forgotten. Pokemon and The Legend of Zelda are Nintendo's two highest grossing games. Wind Waker is getting or has gotten an HD remake and Pokemon is coming out with new games.
Slippy was right. Fox, Falco, and Krystal are pros. They can do what a whole fleet of ships can't. Slippy just fails, though. That's why I always shoot him down myself.
We have pounds in the UK, not Euros. £30 is $46.92 in the US. For a second hand game that's over ten years old I think you can agree that's quite pricey. Especially considering a lot of great (and not so great) PS2 games sell for £5 ($7.82)

I can understand why people don't like Assault. It's because of the on foot missions. Given that in the first two games, Fox and his team are always in their Arwings, except for two Landmaster missions and one Blue Marine mission in Star Fox 64 and its remake on the 3DS. Command was good for keeping the characters in their ships but I wasn't happy about the gibberish language in the game.
Compared with very mediocre games that were released at the time on the PS2 such as State of Emergency and Crash Banicoot: The Wrath or Crotex, the Gamecube games sales in comparison weren't as high as they perhaps deserved to be. It's why the PS2 games I just mentioned and even great games like Metal Gear Solid 2 can be found for a fiver on Ebay while Starfox Assault is about £40. It's because not enough people bought it so it is more rare and not as widely available
I've noticed that now Slippy isn't annoying all the time anymore and his voice is actually decent. But Oikonny is still annoying, more annoying then in Starfox 64.

Come on man! the third person shooter was cool, perhaps the controls weren´t the best but it was a step they need to take and now they can perfect it; on foot missions were good and necesary, without them starfox would have reached less people, I agree they need to fix some things but I´m looking forward for a perfected game(starfox only obviously) with this mixture of vehicle missions, and on-foot missions, after all Fox is a mercenary and he is supposed to perform on any environment.

Actually Star Fox 64 had foot play. You needed to medal every level on Hard difficulty but you got to play on foot in multiplayer. Odd thing was that you still moved at incredible speeds lol. I havent played Assault yet and I dont have any desire to play adventures. Maybe someday but probably not.
Assault was great for the few levels when you actually got to play in an Arwing. Unfortunately, most of the levels stuck you on foot with crap controls and a crap camera. I'll never understand why they decided to go that direction.
3:15 I especially dislike the voice and personality used for Falco in this game... Looking at his image and plot essence (what he did in the story), Falco should have (1) a deeper and tougher voice and (2) a much more emo/rough attitude. Other than that,the controls,graphics and stage layouts have as much quality shine as I would expect since the previous StarFox 64 release. Things like controls and stuff (because of the SOMEWHAT limited Wii mote) may have complicated things for a Wii Starfox release,but the Wii U's touch screen and analog controls DEFINITELY prove good enough for a Wii U release. {It's exciting to imagine using things like missles and bombs all with the touch of a finger}
They all did good, especially Super Mairo Sunshine... Though I'd have to say that SOME people didn't like Wind Waker because of their "Cartoony Graphics".
The thing that bothered me about this game (not to say it made it a bad game) is that the controls didnt feel as tight as Starfox 64, a game developed over 15 years ago. This seems to be a problem with alot of developers who somehow make controls clunkier and floatier than thier primitive counterparts.
yea but Adventures got way better "good reception" than assault: Metacritic gave Advenutes 82/100 and game rankings was 81% vs assault's Metacritic 67/100 and game ranking 71%. Personally I agree with you though
I really think that all modern nintendo games are overrated. Each iteration of all the long running nintendo series doesn`t give us anything new, especially mario. I would love to go back and play a lot of gamecube titles but I think that the nintendo of today has no place in the gaming industry. If I want to experience more traditional gameplay and I don`t care about how pretty a game looks I`ll go back and play the old games.

I can understand why people don't like Assault. It's because of the on foot missions.
