- Mission 8: Protect the Gate
In orbit above Corneria is an Orbital Gate. At the present time, federation scientists are rushing to finish a weapon that will tilt the scales of the conflict in their favor, an anti-aparoid program bomb. Do whatever it takes to protect the gate from Aparoid invasion until the weapon development is finished.

I don't have much to say about this mission. Its one that I never paid attention to. Anyways, we're nearing the end of entire conflict.

Assault kind of was a near perfect send off for star Fox.
Save the world from the ultimate evil, cool sacrificial hero moment for Peppy, Fox gets the girl and star wolf redemption. Really just needed an appearance from Katt and Bill plus the game being a little longer wouldn’t hurt.
At 2:55 to 2:56 in the left side of the screen, you can see Sector Z from here. Just in case you didnt notice

This for some reason is my favorite mission. Protecting those missiles were too easy but the way the scenes were played out at the time, it was pretty exciting back when I was a kid.
The artstyle of Star Fox Assault is very pretty than the other SF games. Simply because it feel kinda real in a way

lol The funny thing is Star Fox came out before Episode 3, which means ole Georgie-boi ripped the V-wing off Star Fox.
Love the fact that enemies are escorting the missiles and fly around it so you shoot them down instead of the missiles

Those aparoids remind me of of the space bugs from Galaga
cool touch that they threw in no name fighters and soldiers, made it a bit more lively

All this level is, is a re-creation of Sector Z from Star Fox 64. Same style, same mission. Knock down large missiles.

Star Wolf takes an anti-hero stance this game. Working for Andross is one thing but the aparoids sorta threaten everything.
Andrew took command of the remainder of Andross' forces but was killed by the aparoids. He likely was only on Star Wolf's team just to be a contact for Andross.
Pigma was kicked from the team for unknown reasons. He was also killed by the Aparoids.
Leon stayed with Wolf.
Panther is a new recruit. A sort of rose holding pretty boy.
Andrew is still alive. Anybody cares about Pigma?
