Just to add: HUD windows that are not visible all the time can be added by editing the app.ini file found inside the My Documents/iRacing folder. Open this file and look for the forceVisibleWhenMove line contained within the [Graphics] section and change the “0” to a “1” Don’t forget to save the file before closing.
Then you can move the ones that are not important out of the way and position the required ones where you want them using the ‘edit ui’ button.
Occasionally there will be HUD items that are still out of view in the VR headset, they can be located by opening the sim on a monitor and placing the windows closer together in the center of the cockpit, then going back to the VR headset and they will then all be visible.
This is quite rare, but I just could not see one of the boxes in VR and when I looked on my monitor it was positioned way down on the screen.

Yes of course, I forgot to mention that, and it is vital. Thank you for mentioning it here. I wasn't aware of ever missing any windows, some I see, like the exit to menu icon don't seem to be movable, but most of everything else has always been in side my FOV.

The second clutch button is not mostly psychological. I actually just yesterday started using it when up-shifting, because I got frustrated with my times and wanted to give it a try. Even though it feels weird since I'm not used to it and still not very proficient, I managed to shave off 3 tenths from my optimal lap and half a second on my average lap times, after only practicing it for about an hour.

Thanks for sharing this experience, I will try that as well soon.

@@schlaepp1502 Depending on your driving style, it might not be as much for you though. In Oschersleben for example I like to use first gear on some corners which most people will take in second gear. So I have more shifts than those people. It will give you a pretty good advantage on the starting grid against someone who uses only auto shift.

@@mementomori4972 thanks for the information. I will try it out. I know that in theory this doesnt change anything but maybe it will help me shift up more consistently

Good to know that it's not just in my mind, I was wondering if it was making a difference. Mostly I use it to launch the Vee, or I use it in the MX5 when on a straight and needing a quick gear change from 3rd to 4th. I will have to start using it some more.
Of course, I do actually have a clutch pedal on my rig, but the only time I did use it, my times went out the window.

@@OlderGamersPerspective I'm used to a clutch pedal from real life driving and would prefer it over a button, but it's just not in the budget right now, since I have to upgrade other things first. I think it's just practice though. I was slower at first, when I did the first few laps with the button. I'm diving mainly the ff1600 now, which of course involves much more shifting than the Vee, so that's another factor.

I really enjoy your videos but I would love to see more AMS2 content -

A very fair comment. I have been working on an AMS2 video, but hit some technical snags, but looks like I have what I need now, so hopefully it will appear soon. Some other VR and sim racing equipment in the queue before that video, but it should be out before the end of May.
