Thought of this about 15 years ago, used to drive my RC truck around the hood and into neighbors houses while I was back in my garage. now put the camera on a swivel and link it to the steering linkage so that it turn with the turn. This all works better on smooth ground unless you are adding motion dampner. So close to putting it all together, RC cars raced from Sim-Seats...anyone listening? You do it indoors with transmitter in center of ceiling above the track. You pit in and your friends change your tires and battery pack.
@@James-ch9nv especially mixed with a motion rig that can emulate the g-force from the car it would be incredible. It seems silly to add the RC cars because we already have incredible video games but they still cant match real-time video and the people outside the game get to watch the cars racing instead of watching a screen. this takes a lot tech though and an extremely fast video connection.
@@whatyoudo9773 that's exactly where I was heading with this. But a little more, the size of the vehicles could actually do wonders in tight spaces. One example would be this; imagine a ground radar penetration device you dont push. Or for excavating? I may be reaching a little bit. But yea, there could be a market in my opinion.
@@James-ch9nv not sure what the ground radar is but it sounds like your into heavy machinery, tractors, dumps, and thats cool, it would lend itself well to this becuase the machines dont move fast but I think it might be a bit boring other than for dedicated fans...like model train enthusiat's. Be great to have tractor vs some doomsday RC cars that are trying to destroy it or something, be able to fire projectiles? Im always thinking of what would work in one of these industrial buildings and this type of stuff is prime.
Mech-bots would be fun to control from VR motion rig as well becuase as opposed to the life-size battle bots they keep failing with units that were 2-3 ft tall would be fast and agile and probably not pop off hydraulic lines in every skirmish. Mechs vs armoured RC cars...that would be fun!
true d diversity module and a tbs triump paired with that patch you have on your goggles would make a WORLD of difference. The patch only has a 70 degree or so radius of reception, but also give a greater range. The tbs triump would give you 360 degree reception and then paired with the patch would be great. It is 100% woth the $80 investment. It made my flying my drone way more immersive and is so easy to install. Interested in seeing more once you get a better goggle antennae, your driving is limited as of now. Love your videos, subscribed 5 years ago or so and haven't regretted it once.

Also Medic, you should put voltage indicator on the balance leads of your lipos then figure out a way to get them in the frame of the fpv cam. You will be able to see when your lipos are hurting! this stuff is awesome
Good exercise heading out to the track, up n down the ladder, brisk walk, back n forth! Great work. I can totally see someone here in Aus sending their traxxas down to Bunnings (hardware store chain) for a snag ( sausage, usually wrapped in dodged bread, sometimes with onion, sauce, mustard). One dude did this with a drone a few years back.
For sure fpv is the future It will be awesome to have groups of people racing their RC buggies and truggies on the tracks hopefully we will see that happening someday soon

Have two small cameras mounted on the rid, one facing downwards towards the tires to see the approach angle and one facing forwards with a fish eye lens. Have it set up in the googles with one camera/screen for one eye and another camera/screen for the other eye. Might be cool and tricky to get used to, just an idea.
Forgot to mention, so bad ass you landed that jump off the superman ramp. I was worried watching like "omg he is sacrificing the X-Maxx!" LOL. So happy you landed it, and the X-Maxx lives another day. Even more bad ass it was essentially a blind jump!
Awesome, I think this is going to keep improving and the applications are endless like you said in one of your other videos. I think even without FPV this would be fun to drive with the wheel and pedals. My wife and daughter always say that it’s hard to learn how to drive the cars with the standard pistol grip controllers but they’d probably really like the wheel and pedals. Great show, innovation is where the hobby needs to go!

Must be so fun. Inside an 8S Monster Truck. Must be difficult though without depth perception and zero head and eye tracking but definitely the coolest video game. And one doesn’t have to build an imaginary world to it. The real world is already there waiting for you :-)
Was rewatching this because a Shop and Tube channel was making a wheel setup for their RC like yours but you did yours first and better. You know you could do this with your side by side? lol At least someone could. I saw it at the track with you in this video and though why not scale it up a bit and run that thing! Bud that is just so cool seeing you driving FPV and if you use a gyro stabilized camera mount with head tracking you will see that it is even better and easier to drive and see what you're doing using a system like that give that a try I know that you will love it big time!
A digital 1.3 with a low pass filter would make the video transmitted very clear . You will need a low pass filter while using the 2.4 .The 5.8 analog signal is mostly for Arial fpv. 1.3 will avoid a lot of that ground noise you have in your feed. Best of luck.
Or... Just fit a proper receiver antenna on the goggles to match the circular polarized antenna fitted on the transmitter. Instead he fits a patch antenna and points it the complete wrong direction.
Brilliant, it would be great to see a race with the 5th scales like this, but I think there is room for both as they are so different and require different skills to race, great fun and thank you from Australia, but also not thank you"" as you cost me a lot of money as my son and I are now in to 5th scale because of you, No that's a thank you as well!

I would just ditch the patch and throw a cloverleaf on the goggles, I don't see the need for a patch and diversity at this range

you could use AIO micro camera/tx combo, but getting dual images back to the goggles would be tricky
