@@ewgrossnotveryepic7208 the funny thing is, I don't like their coffee but I have an effectively bottomless account there since I get Starbucks gift cards every month at work. I am still searching for a coffee there I like. The doppio espresso is ok at best.
Are there still all the brown flip flops? I think the night life fashion has changed a little in Clarendon, especially since the Ballroom closed. Less bros, bit more diverse crowd.
It's sad but it's better than if the place turned into a deserted hood like most of flyover country. South Arlington is a bit more humble but it's gentrifying as well.
A decade later (still a bop) and not much has changed... except for like the gentrification of Columbia Pike, but yeah the brown flip flops have stood the test of time and fashion.
Remy, you're hilarious. I remember when I saw this in 2009 while living in DC and I thought it was funny then, but now I actually live in Arlington and my old apartment is in this video, it's 10x more funny now. You're a genius. I have to say, the response to "we could take the green line" is quite possibly one of the most clever things about it. well done man. Someone posted your Dog Money video on Linkedin today and I was like "hey, i know that guY!" good to see you still making content out here. You should consider creating it there... lots of eyeballs to be had... if a schmuck like me can get 10m views / year, you can get 100
I don’t think the Ballston mall is that much better. Except the first floor can have some business, Macy’s gone, and the rest of the mall looks like a ghost town. The garage doesn’t share the same floor number as the mall, and it’s literally the worst managed mall I’ve ever seen
OK, this has to be one of my favorite videos ever. I've lived in the neighborhood for almost 5 years, and you totally nailed it. The Starbucks part had me on the floor.
Kind of satisfying to look back. This was released about when I came to the area and I couldn't relate to most of the references at the time. Turn the clocks forward and it all makes so much sense!
Remy, if you knew how many times I played this video across all my various RUclips accounts over the years.... Starting 12 years ago when I lived in NW DC wearing boat shoes and brown flip flops at Whole Foods.........
Back in 2011, I was just about to get out of the Army, and I was moving to Arlington. I googled Arlington and this video came up. Hilarious. It’s 2021 now. I don’t live in Arlington anymore, but I had some good times. Thanks for the awesome video, Remy.
It's 2023 and it's still accurate. Nostalgic looking at the vanished Ballston Common Macy's and bookstores. Most of the other stores in Clarendon are there. Starbucks, too. Walgreens moved. Green line 😐
I live here!! its awesome !! ok so its three miles from D.C. and your only 5 minutes from the 6th biggest mall in the u.s. tysons corner, and like 2 minutes away from pentigon mall . and we have all four seasons. its in arlington, virginia.
born and raised in Arlington and Arlingtonians have witnessed massive growth to the city. Rosslyn, Clarendon are Ballston really nice peaceful places plus they are right next to one another. Most of Arlington isn't has "ghetto" as the video makes it seem. I'm from South Arlington, and i would've loved for him to mention areas similar to my "hood" and also mention Mario's Subs and Pollo Rico. Like what Giuliani did to New York, thats what Arlington has gone through
I repost this on social media every time I move back to Arlington for work. This shit had me rolling out of my chair laughing the first time I heard it. "I'm in Courthouse so much they call me Michael Vick"
Today, my husband was sitting in new york with me, drinking tomato juice. "Huh. Says it's made in .. Arlington," he says, looking at the back of the bottle. "I wonder where that is." WELL BOY OH BOY DID I HAVE THE PERFECT VIDEO FOR HIM
Aww this video gives me so much nostalgia of Arlington. Still a lot is the same but Ballston and some other things have completely changed in 14 years. Literally my teen-young adult years
The first video that ever brought me into this page was his McDonald’s rap. I think he’s TSA rap Is the most recent on here from I think four years ago. To be honest since then he’s either posted very little or hasn’t posted at all.
As a transplant from California living in the DC area for the last 4.5 years this is scary accurate even today. I first found Remy though his MTGRemy channel. Good to see her was making comedy music before that channel
Last I checked, Washington DC straddled North and South. I always considered it as much Northern as Southern. Btw, I'm a California transplant in the NE, get it right. And, if DC is indeed the South, then I already did my time... four yrs in Durham, NC for college. It was hell. You can have it.
Haha so the joke is that the green line is the only one that actually goes through majority-black neighborhoods. (Through it doesn't actually go through Arlington.)
They weren't at Vienna, they were on the Orange line heading back to Arlington and Vienna is the line. In this plotline it looks like they were stuck at L'enfant, where the Orange line crosses with the Green. You can blame production values for any continuity errors, like the L'enfant stop not actually being outside.
It's not much to know. It's a really plain, really affluent inner suburb of DC. You could make a similar video about a few dozen other places throughout the US.
God I love being from here Though 3:37 The loss of Carpool for the new apartment building a few years ago makes me sad :( Also the new mall build is doesn’t feel as nice. All the businesses left, save for the food court.
Its 2020 and everything he raps about is true, valid and current.
I agree, except for the Walgreens, Car Pool and Hard Times... But we did get a few more Starbucks!
He made it to brown nation on netflix
Mark B. Thank god you got more Starbucks

the starbucks are only growing
And there is actual crime in Arlington now!
Aww. Pre coronavirus. Good times
oh my god yes. especially the starbucks and the brown flipflops one
A-Town will never change
it’s 2024 & this is all FACTS 😂
Other than taking a taxi vs calling an Uber, this is still 100% relevant and brilliant 14 years later 😂😂😂
This tune just popped into my head after 12 years so I had to see if I could dig this up. Still holds up.
Five years later and this video is still funny because it's still accurate.

Not right now. It's the middle of winter. :)

In Maryland, at least in the Baltimore burbs, it's cargo shorts and brown flip flops 365 days a year
I used to work at the Barnes & Nobles in Clarendon, they actually do have book club meetings every Tuesday nights haha

He actually missed a couple additional Starbucks.
LOL !!!!!!
yea that's true
he needs to do an updated vision and add the other Starbucks!
Some of them are actually Gone now
He missed the one they added when they rebuilt the mall.
Lol remy lives in Arlington never knew I lived so close to the Saudi who drove the Audi
Nah, he drives a Prius but you can't see him driving since their are lots of parking tickets covering the window. It helps hide him from his Exes.
Same here

THE PART ABOUT THE GREENLINE HAD ME ON THE FLOOR 😂 I WAS BORN AND RAISED IN DC THIS IS SO ACCURATE ABOUT ARLINGTON

Saw it years back....still funny.
This is linked to a WaPo article about "Love is Blind". Congrats Remy!
I LOVE THIS!!!!!!! Some parts are soooo ironic. Arlington VA, is the opposite of the hood, and we do have like 100 Starbucks.
Sorry Alanis. Not irony. More like satire
8 years later, they've run out even more poor people and opened more starbucks!

The green line part at the end is definitely the best part. Wraps up the whole theme of the video really well.
