LYRICS
-------
[HAMILTON]
Before we begin, everyone do me a favor,
And read a little thing I wrote called the Federalist Papers.
I explain how a nation’s unlikely to survive
Without a strong central government to keep it alive,
When I launched the central bank, Jefferson called me ill,
Now you have my face to thank on every ten dollar-bill.
When America was cash-strapped, I pushed past that,
Now some sicko makes crypto and our nation backtracks?
[SATOSHI]
Decentralized currency. Yes, I invented it.
I’m sure many governments wish they had prevented it
Their national cash is how they keep control,
But freedom to the people was my ultimate goal.
Am I a pseudonym? A group of men? It doesn’t even matter.
I invented Bitcoin cause fiat is a disaster.
A man from Japan or a damn hologram?
I’m the reason open season on crypto began.
[H]
Does anybody know what this crypto-thing means?
To me, sounds like the new Get Broke Quick scheme,
A bunch of fools from across the land
Investing in something they don’t even understand,
Buying Litecoin, Dash, Bitcoin Cash,
It’s all gonna crash, and be gone in a flash.
All this unsupported money’s an irrational prank,
And I’ll be laughing all the way to my National Bank.
[S]
Hahahahahah, yeah dude, super funny,
As if banks these days still helped people make money.
The rich get richer and we follow like we’re all sheep,
The banks serve Wall Street, crypto serves all streets,
The interest in crypto’s on rapid ascent
What’s your current interest? Half a percent?
I’m sorry, the bank’s gone past its peak
But I want info encrypted, not hacked and leaked.
[H]
If this crypto system will be our salvation,
It needs to be centralized, needs regulation.
If our central database gets… how you say, “hacked?”
Insurance will just make a case to get your money back.
‘Cause in fact, it’s tracked, and the money leaves a trail.
Central currency is strong, cryptocurrency is frail.
Untraceable money - wow, so clever.
One typo in your address? Now it’s gone forever...

Hamilton wins for that brilliant callback to the Philosophers’ ERB.
Yessss I'm glad someone else picked up on that lol
Not gonna lie, seeing the camera cut to audience reactions was very irritating and annoying, especially after every 2 lines. If it were up to me, I'd leave out reactions entirely. Great rap battle though!
I agree- the reactions detract from the battle.
yeah especially since the reaction is OBVIOUSLY positive towards one side.
FYI a couple of those audience members are crypto founders/coders - I recognized Charlie Lee (invented Litecoin) and Adam Back (Bitcoin core developer).
And then there was someone from the crowd making a comment every line
"Yeah!"
"Duh!"
Etc, etc, etc.
I for one, am glad your are 1, its not for you to decide we are a whole XXX nation. Read between the lines .. maybe understand it takes than a brain cell to have a plan.
Who lives, who dies, who raps your story.
Hmm Hamilton called for his gun declaring a duel yet he got killed by getting shot in the side by Aaron burr
Alexander Hamilton won.
It was really subtle, but more shots of the spectators showed them rooting for Satoshi or disagreeing with Hamilton. It made the battle look biased from the start and physcology shows that that makes the viewers lean to the side that is gaining more support. Liked the battle, but if you want it to be an unbiased choice of the viewer, then make the camera shots more even sided.
Edit: I also want to mention they pinned a comment saying that Satoshi won and applauding Bitcoin. Kind of proves my point
It was very obviously biased but so are the actual ERB videos lol
Jose Canibal ?
Who cares? This wasn't even a detailed debate. People can't rationally make up their mind by listening to rap videos. I fully support the bias. Jeffersonian Crypto FTW!!!
I counted 22 people disagreeing with Hamilton or agreeing with Satoshi with only 9 on the other side.
Jose Canibal not really. Only the Donald trump one in a way but Abraham won no matter what and it’s a fact

You still need to trust your vendor to hand it out to you. Therefore I hope you don't store it in a bank. Not so with Cryptos.
Pst: during Hamilton's time money was silver backed. So this entire battle is actually just a Bitcoin ad as they didn't even bother to represent Hamilton properly.
@@JustinDynamicD Hamilton was criticized by Jefferson for his desire for central banking specifically due to the inflationary/deflationary nature of government and their favoring of corporations.
He may not have spoken to the release of the bimetallic standard of the fiat (Crime of 1983 for silver, and 1971 for gold) but his ideas for centralized banking set the ground work for its inevitability.
@@Mediagix No, you just have to hope that so many cryptos aren't created that FOMO will disperse the value of those cryptos and inflate all of them into a constant equlibrium of market cap value ad infinitum.
This whole battle was slanted in favor of Bitcoin, the audience reactions, the relative lack of emphasis when Hamilton was talking about the morality of central banking, the general framing of different shots and the actors involved. However, enough points were made clearly enough to convince me, I think centralized banking is the better option.
central banking is the reason we are in so many wars
@@aidensvocals2479 and bitcoin is the reason people have lost millions, its so fragile that it makes no sense. If you want to argue that a centralized banking is the reason we are in so many wars. A decenteralized banking would destroy the world economy to the point where we would be back to the stone ages. No centeralized system, civilization will stagnate or regress
So either we die from a nuclear war or we die from economic collapse
I agree, for example it left out that bitcon might be a bit centralized to, already Ghash got control of 51% of the mining, they backed down instead of seizing control but it demonstrated how economy of scale can break bitcoin.
Also the fact blockchains, it is flat money too (in the sense it has no fixed exchange rate), suffers from network lag and a limit of how fast transactions can be processed as a gobal scale, it is also deflationary, so it scales poorly.

If sick beats were a currency, the world would be a lot simpler..
Tbh Hamilton makes a far more compelling case (despite the dumb audience reactions clearly biased towards crypto).
Also, Satoshi implying banks don't use encryption. Lol what???
@Bruno Pereira ... no, its stronger, bitcoins strength is in a decentralized node network, the encryption is actually lacking.
@Bruno Pereira cuz bitcoin literally does not use encryption ... the protection is gained from other nodes being able to identify a bad one.
@Bruno Pereira The facts don't care you are right, as for encryption the ledger is not encrypted. The transactions are cryptographically verified but the ledger is visible to all. That is essentially revealing your bank activity to anyone who can trace ur address.
@Bruno Pereira i do, im just saying that banks have much better encryption. Bitcoin's security is gained by other means.
@Bruno Pereira You clearly do not understand encryption if you believe that.

Yeah crypto is cool and all but it's to unstable to use as actually money if you are part of a stable economy that doesn't get crazy inflation. He made appoint about interest but crypto gaining so much value is what hurts it because it's value seems to be tied to speculation not actual worth and that's why it can go up and down so fast. Of course Fiat money can have this crash problem to so it's probably a better alternative in Venezuela or Zimbabwe we're the have actual problems with Fiat money.
@@austinblackburn8095 In places like Venezuela or Zimbabwe, or anywhere else that virtually lost its entire economy, the barter system is the major alternative. After all, if a wheel barrel of money isn't worth the wheel barrel that holds it, why wouldn't you just trade the wheel barrel instead. Why would you except Bitcoin, which would require internet access just to transfer, which isn't even universally guaranteed.
