Briarlight was treated like actual garbage by the Erins; so seeing this map makes me really happy!! Feathertail being a confident sister who’s trying to help Briarlight out of her funk is such a good concept, it makes my heart melt!! And this map did a really good job at treating a disabled character well! Instead of trying to make her happy via “fixing” her injury, which is often very offensive when it comes to this, this map made her happier via being shown how much love she has in her life, and that she’s far from useless. Just a wonderful map, I’ve been rewatching it so many times!! The colors, the animation, the concept...MWAH.
I agree the erins treated Briarlight terribly by fixing her legs when she died felt to me if it felt like them saying Briarlight was broken and now she's 'fixed' which is a terrible message. Briarlight went through so much but she face it all with kindness and is one of my favorite characters.
@@KSFern She certainly could have been a warrior. The Erins are just insistent on being ableist as hell. If you look at cats who are paralyzed at the bottom half, they can move around extremely well and fast!! Sure, it probably would have been dangerous to be in battles, and she might not be able to hunt because of the noise, but that’s not all she could have done. She could have went into the forest to help gather resources, go on border patrols (99% of them don’t end up in battles like people try to say lol), and help build up the camp. People like to act if a cat in this series can’t hunt or fight well they’re useless and can’t be warriors and are condemned to being left to lay around. Also, “fixing” her disability when she died and having sandstorm tell squirrelflight it may not be worth it to go back and live because she might be like briarlight…that is so incredibly offensive. They also broke her character traits just to have an excuse to kill her off. They could have done it in a way that wasn’t so obvious they just needed an excuse oh my god. Disabilities don’t make you a baby and you don’t need to be babied, she should have been treated like everyone else. The Erins have incredibly ableist writing.

I cannot speak for them, but I see a lot of people say they want better representation and don’t want to see characters like them be shoved off like that. Also I’ve heard multiple disabled readers say it was disrespectful to remove her disability in StarClan. Like I said, I am mentally disabled so I cannot speak for physically disabled folk, but everything I say/my opinions are founded on what I have heard from personal accounts of disabled fans of the series.

The Erins chose that because they can’t see them being “useful” in the ways the characters want to be. THATS ableist writing. Realism with cat injuries goes so far. Realistically, if an entire multi thousand pound tree fell on Briarlight’s legs, it would obliterate them. There would be no legs. Trying to add realism to Warriors is not going to work. They have a religion and ghost cats and medicine skills. Everything I have expressed I have heard in personal conversation. I am not saying physically disabled readers are a monolith with one single opinion; not everyone will have problems with how Briarlight was handled. But just because someone aren’t offended, doesn’t discount the people who are, and were heartbroken about how the only major paralyzed character was treated.
can we appreciate that dropped parts were included in the credits? a lot of work goes into them but they often go overlooked because they don’t get finished
I love this AU so much. Feathertail and Briarlight have always been two of my favorite characters, and the fact that's there's a MAP with an incredibly talented host and tons of equally talented animators about these two makes me so happy! Everyone did and amazing job! (Edit) I have no words to describe this... perfect is too small a compliment for this beauty.

Oh THIS was excellent. I loved how much movement there was in this MAP, everything was so bouncy! The animators did an amazing job, and so did the host! The script and designs were absolutely amazing, and everything came together excellently! 10/10, definitely one of my favorite MAPs

I love Briarlight AND Feathertail and I always wondered how Briarlight didn't fall into a depression permanently but this sort of explains it. Its a fun headcannon/au. It has been quite a while since I watched a Warriors MAP, but I've gotta say, I'm glad I started back with this! Briarlight is one of my favorite characters, and I'm glad to finally get a MAP that focuses more on her achieving the ability to truly live again after her accident over her death and Jayfeather and whatnot, and the song's great message and speedy beat really work well with the art style! I love all the different shapes and designs used, and the end result ends up being so colorful! I love it!
