Great Review! I just picked one of these up and am enjoying the surround sound capabilities. Newer version with Metal vs. Fabric and display readout on front vs top of unit is a huge improvement from the 2021 950B model. Glad I waited for this year's model.
Can you say a little more about the subwoofer? What is a „bloated“ subwoofer doing to the overall performance of the soundbar? How well worked the auto EQ for the subwoofer, did you notice any difference after the calibration? Asking about the sub in particular because it is one of the weaker spots of the Q950a.
During a live stream (no recording available) Shane also got asked about the Q990B subwoofer performance and he said it is decent and an improvement over the Q950A sub but still gets boomy/bloated at higher levels. Overall he thought it is a decent sub considered it is part of a soundbar package at this price, but it does not compare to actual dedicated subwoofer he tests on his channel.
Have picked up a cosmetically damaged 990B and really enjoying the performance. I bought the system to work with my Panasonic TX-65DX902B 3D TV (one of the last decent 3D capable sets).

Hey Shane! I know this video is old. I’m looking for advice. I narrowed down my search for a soundbar to two. I’m deciding between the 990b or Ambeo max. Honestly I am just looking for the best possible sound quality. Which one would you choose out of the two?
Having a 7,2,2 setup un my theater/arcade room I've always wanted to simplify the setup with a high quality soundboard solution but the oomph just isn't quite there. I've tested a few but always ended up returning and sticking with my current setup
I can't speak directly on this, but I had the samsung q950a and was able to directly compare it head to head against the Sony hta5000, rs3s rears and sw5 and sw3 (the Sony was all open box at best buy.) I know the ht-a7000 is the top level soundbar, but the hta5000 I thought sucked. Barely got loud and the voices sounded unnaturally tinny. The atmos effects were little to none. I read about room shaking bass from the sw5. I didn't get that experience at all and it definitely doesn't dig deep. I'd say it's more of a midbass module than true sub. The sw3 while not nearly the output of the sw5, I found blended better and I prefered it of the two subs. The rs3s rears are not bad. In comparison to the samsung I'd go with the Sammy any day of the week. I have a full dedicated theater space, and my biggest complaint with the Sony is the price. I found the hta5000 so bad and it's retail is $1000, I had zero desire to audition the more expensive ht-a7000. And the sw5 at $700? That's a joke. You can get a real sub like an svs that'll far outperform it for less. Again I have a dedicated theater space, and I surprisingly found the samsung more than acceptable. The only negative with it is I wish the subwoofer was stronger, but the bad itself is fantastic, with great dialog intelligibility.

i like the look of this soundbar. I had problem with sub keeps disconnecting even i had changed the frequency with router. Ended sent it back 3 days ago. i had it only one week
It is the best one they have released. I’ve been selling a/v for years and this one actually stands behind the “it’s the best soundbar we’ve ever made!” Proclamation.
I’ve had both the Q96R and the Q960A. Both had massive issues with the connectivity to the speakers and they would often cut out or not connect when powering the soundbar off The 960 came with a defective left rear speaker and to Samsung 6 MONTHS to replace as I had to send the entire package back. I also had the QN85 65” TV, 5 month old started making loud popping noises and they said it was normal heat expansion noises. But I took it into a repair shop and they found that the main PCB board and speakers was defective due to poor soldering and the noises was the capacitors xD I’m never again buying Samsung Products. I bought the Sony XJ95 TV as well as the A7000 with the premium sub and surround speakers and way more happy with those
@@ChandaniAranka I’ve never heard of those soundbar item SKU’s 🤔 maybe your from outside North America! That’s still no excuse though on Samsungs part.
I’ve found that the top channel sound became much more convincing, when I lifted the ear level channels to ear level or higher, so that the top channels are physically above ear level (this prevents the sound leaking out of the side of the drivers from reaching your ears). also, i found I managed to remove the boominess of adaptive, by tuning down the bass, then reverting the subwoofer (because the bass slider also affects the woofer volume). Although, this would also affect all the bass, instead of just the boominess.
Same, I have a Q90R and when I had it below me, it sounded off, but after making ghetto stands out of cardboard boxes, it became quite a bit more convincing.

Hi there, thanks very much for the video! I was wondering, do you know how to turn up the volume of the rear speakers. I can barely hear mine. Thanks in advance!
Well, that's a good sign you still liked it using two SONY TVs. It's supposed to work even better using the Q900B or even S95B acoustic surface screens. I wonder if the HT-A9 would work as well using two Samsung TVs? 🤔
Hi All, I am planning to buy q990, but after reading so many rear speakers disconnection issue on different forum I am just confused to buy it or not,,,can somebody tell me that rear speakers disconnection issue is a life time problem or it can be solved by some firmware update?

He should have adjusted the channels separately to his liking. If you increase front top and rear top channels you’ll hear better height effects. You can also adjust the sub and bass to where you want it.
I have an old k950 from samsung. One thing i noticed is you need to adjust your seating position as you cannot adjust the speaker much. I need to sit in the middle of the room. Like 2,5 meters (7 feet?) From the soundbar and rear speakers with a ceiling height of 2,3 meters and the soundbar about 60 cm (2 foot?) from the floor and a ear height of about one meter (3 foot?). How high can I put the soundbar on the Wall I have a 75' TCL all the way up I was just wondering if I put soundbar up like the middle of the walls up top will it still sounds good?
Question for you all that know acoustics/speaker placement. I live in an apartment. Sectional couch is in a corner. That means the closest TV viewing seat is behind me (my seating position), and furthest seat is at the end of the opposite wall. Would it be ok to place a speaker behind me, and the other on the opposite wall? Rather than both behind me on the same wall. I'm thinking I'd get more coverage putting them apart from each other.
Does it matter that it’s only HDMI 2.0 and not 2.1? I want to pair this with my 2022 LG C2 with my Xbox series X. Will I still get all the bells and whistles? (Dolby vision/Atmos 4k 120fps)?
thanks for the video and awesome review. If I may share my two cents, considering not only Americans watch your videos, you could kindly provide the measures also in the metric system ;)
I'm actually contemplating between this 990 or LG. But I was hook on the Samsung photoframe TV so most likely I will be getting this instead. Was also juggling bet 990 be 950 . In sg , price is about 300 difference.

I have purchased q990b after such great reviews. I just wanted to know about 2 surround speakers. Inspite of putting rear channels at highest level of 6, I am getting very less sound in surround mode. Is it the default way of surround speakers?
I have since 2 years the Samsung HW-Q90R and has been great, i had previously bose wich are pretty good as well. The blade runner 2049 intro with that Samsung set makes me shi..my pants
Blade runner sounds awesome on my 950a. I live in a condo and it does more than plenty. Yeah of course dedicated systems are better and if I had a house I'd have one. But the samsung soundbars definitely satisfies no question. I have the q850t also for the bedroom low ceilings. Good and plenty.
I have just purchased the HTa9 and its great but the sound of voices is terrible and it seems to go up and down all the time , i have the 950a and the centre speaker makes all the difference its not as good as the HTa9 but at least i can here the voices.
I bought one of these as it was on sale and considerably cheaper than retail, being a self funded retiree, I always find the bargains, I bought new for less than people were selling their second hand units. My 5.1.2 system couldn't do Atmos and so was looking for a easy to setup system with less wires and after watching a few reviews and then comparing the price, I couldn't go past the Samsung for only $1300, my 5.1.2 cost over double that. I also have a new 85 inch Samsung Qled so this should work in well as the bar uses the TVs speakers as well in Atmos and does it all wirelessly, this was another reason to put a few more points to the Samsung Sound bar. Will add a comment once I get mine set up and use for a day or two to see if I agree with your review :)
@@LiquidSm0ke In what way ? You are the only one that has said the Sony is better ? Considering I have a Samsung TV and not a Sony so therefore get no benefits from the Sony as far as simplifying or consolidating as my Samsung TV remote works my Sound bar and the TV speakers also work in sequence with the Soundbar speakers, I don't get any of that with a Sony Soundbar, any way I have never found Sony to be better than any other Manufacturer and usually by Yamaha or Pioneer and would have bought one of their brands instead had I not had a Samsung TV and watched many reviews that gave the Samsung over all a better rating than the Sony.
So what is your opinion with the Q Symphony. I've seen reviews that say it is pretty impressive. I plan on getting a neo qled soon and will be in the market for a sound bar shortly after.
@@bharathb4803 Set up was automatic, everything just worked, even the WiFi when I tried it to see how it was, it worked seamlessly and was no different to the HDMI arc connection, one less cable was another plus :). I got the Electrician in to put power points next to the rear speakers and got him to shorten the speaker cords so they were just long enough to reach the point, much neater now. I have had many friends and family over and didn't tell them about my new system and watched them when we started watching the Movie they came over to see with us, they couldn't believe just how much better this cheap sound bar system was compared to my near $8,000 Yamaha surround sound system.

Will you do a video for q990c ?
(Dolby vision/Atmos 4k 120fps)?
i am not sure, but i think that you have to connect your xbox to your tv in the 2.1 port and the soundbar to the tv in the earc port
@@philippos2010 yup what you said was exactly the way to do it
Essentially what the HW-Q950A should've been
Identical sound, but yes the way it should have, but not a sound upgrade or change what so ever
If possible, can you do a review on the LG S95QR?
Hi.. i have Sony 65xh8196 TV ..Will it work with my TV?.. Dolby atmos ... rear speaker..
thanks for the video and awesome review.
Hi sir
ı bought this q990b
back speakers ı need a wall hanger
where can ı fınd ıt
ın the box not even a screw came wıth ıt
where can ı fınd what type of screw ıt use
thank you
I have purchased q990b after such great reviews. I just wanted to know about 2 surround speakers. Inspite of putting rear channels at highest level of 6, I am getting very less sound in surround mode. Is it the default way of surround speakers?
Bro just buy basic 5.1 home theater system. With physical present speakers that cost less than this

Why no review of the Sonos Arc system?
Was waiting on this one after hearing about it this past week. Strangely though Samsung still has the Q90a still at the same price!?
I have just purchased the HTa9 and its great but the sound of voices is terrible and it seems to go up and down all the time , i have the 950a and the centre speaker makes all the difference its not as good as the HTa9 but at least i can here the voices.
KRS One backdrop love it
Can I add more channels with this one
finally a soundbar testing the seinheiser ambeo?
Thank you for the video, can you do please the LG S95QR 2022 flagship soundbar, it'll be awsome video comparing it to this samsung soundbar.
I listened to both side by side in store and went with the Q990B as the sound and dialogue was bettet
It supports DTS-X I thought it didn’t! Awesome
can u compare DS95QR to the samsung ?
Sonys soundbar is better
Billy, could you please tell how's the audio quality? Any issues in set up, devices/connection?
I'm thinking to buy a new one on a good deal.
Which game is the demo shown from the 9:13 minute?
not a game, but a movie called 'ready player one'
Can you review the Bose 900
Just had one yesterday do you know if they have stopped putting the demo disc in the box.oh uk if that makes any difference.
Hi..just want ask how to adjust..for rear speaker..i try adjust from remote but cannot..what i need to press?
smartthings app could give better control maybe
How much dB can this sooundbar produce?
I have ht a9 and q950a I think Samsung 950a amazing more rich sound the q990b more clear and more bass not too much defrant
