Why not? I think you're misconstruing the most extreme examples of the butterfly effect for the only examples of the butterfly effect, when there's no reason the small examples can't still happen.
If you are against Jessica in the first choice there won't be a butterfly effect. So if you sided with Emily first then the second choice matters. If you sided with Jess first then the butterfly effect is there and the second choice doesn't matter.
