If you shoot the squirrel, a crow/raven will attack Sam ( for whatever reason ) and she'll get a wound on her forehead. Later, while getting chased by the Psycho/Josh, when she hits her head on the ground after knocking the door down, her wound will open and she won't be able to turn off her flashlight, and she'll get caught. Does the pain distract her?? Does she get minor brain damage???? we'll never know
It was nice to see the hide under the bed ones cause nobody ever picks that cause its obviously a dumb choice lol. Also if you pick that you are scared of needles in your therapy sessions I believe if Sam gets caught she gets injected with a needle instead of sleeping gas

If you choose "I'm scared of needles" during the psychiatrist sessions, the gas changes to a needle in the neck. Same as how all the clowns change into zombies/scarecrows in all the 'jump scares' or models which Ashley is scared by.
I never realized until now that Sam can open two doors when she locks out the psycho, but the door on the left is the wrong choice. Luckily most players only see the one in front of Sam and ignore the "trap"

A major reason why this is the fan-favorite sequence in the whole game is because the player is very likely to fail unless they did some exploration earlier to increase their odds of success.

I wonder if that affects her getting caught or not? What happens if you do nothing more than just the first time? What happens if you do ALL of this with the needle instead? I bet there's about 20 minutes worth of content in the chase alone. (Yes I'm aware some of it is the same actions but the animations and perhaps words will be different.) If you don't manage to get the bat in time, he says something like "Time to rest."

I think there’s a third possibility where If you run at the last hide prompt in the cellar if you don’t grab the baseball bat Josh shouts something like “run pussycat run” and you get away without having used it.
I'm so proud of myself that I did everything perfectly right in this sequence on first try lol I didn't have to fight off the Psychopath not once, but I'm glad to see I had some room for mistakes cause I really wanted to keep Sam safe
Okay so I know this place is pretty much abonded but ever since I played this, I always wondered why only the people who nearly had nothing to do with the prank (Chris, Sam and Ashley (Ashley had a part in it but if you compare it to the others she was just being there, unlike Jessica who planned it or Matt who recorded it...)) were getting tortured by Josh while the real responsible people were absent through this whole thing. But when you think about it, the people who were actually responsible were the ones who actually got their shit rocked. Ashley, Chris and Sam were never in actual mortal danger while Emily and Matt fell down a goddamn tower, Jessica (Who initiated the prank) got ABSOLUETLY destroyed and Mike was basically forced to watch and can lose 2 fingers depending on your playthrough. So the real, true karma found it's owners anyway. Don't know if this is planned or not, but seems pretty possible to me, especially when you think about how bad Jessica got injured, since she is technically the creator of all this mess.
Well nothing much changes, since Sam doesnt die in this section. If Sam fails to escape here she just gets kidnapped and gets rescued by Mike later. If she did escape, you get to explore the Psycho's workshop and get more clues related to the psycho.
Dammit brain at first i am addicted to The Evil Within and second Resident Evil and third Silent Hill and fourth Uncharted and now fifth Until dawn? Dayum these games are awesome for me.
If you choose needless your fear in the scenes with Dr Hill, the psycho will chase you with a needle.... I greatly fear needles so that was scary, and being a fan of Dexter didn’t make it better... I gotta say when Sam is hiding behind the shelves where she can hit the psycho, there’s something super creepy about him slowly banging the gas canister as he talks to her....
