chris can actually die later in the game, during the final sequence everyone at the lodge’s life remains on the line depending on if sam fails or succeeds in all the ‘don’t move’ challenges, and if sam decides to run to flip the lights too early before everyone gets a chance to escape

Let's not forget that Emily faced a horror alone earlier and she's probably most traumatized at the moment. She lost Matt, Mike left, so Ash, Sam and Chris are there only. Maybe her good friends, but they didn't seem to talk much regardless.
On a more technical level, Emily could be dead at this point (killed in the mines/shot in the lodge) so her not having any lines was easier than making a whole different scene depending whether she is alive or not.
Worst part is, a decapitated head can live for a bit before dying so chris was probably still alive for a few seconds before actually dying. That is really messed up.
Long as you ignore the Trap door, Chris and Ashley will survive. But if either one unlocks it; regardless if you open it or not. That seals their fate.

Another Obsessive One If you fail the Don’t Move segment Chris doesn’t die, he only dies if you failed the QTEs after that (which are the first two deaths I stated.)

I find this all a bit confusing... If Chris opens the trapdoor while Ashley didn’t, he dies. But after Emily and Ashley head back, they don’t even mention Chris. It’s just like they forget him! It’s the same if Chris is NOT left behind, and if Ashley dies, they don’t mention her. When Chris en Ash both die, Emily is all alone, and she doesn’t even look for them? There must at least be some blood on the floor that she would see..?
There can't be any comments that acknowledge her because she could be dead at this point via the Wendigo, the grinder, or the revolver. They put one scenario in where Sam goes to climb the rock wall and tells Emily to head back, but in all other instances they play the scenes' dialogue so that she doesn't have to say a line.

Chris is the best boi ( ・᷄ ᵌ・᷅ ) Edit: It has also come to my attention that out of every possible choice in the entire game, I am weirdly obsessed with this one decision and its outcomes the most.

I assume it's because the wendigo had already taken Ashley and/or Chris's body back to it's cave. Maybe it wasn't in the area, or it was just far enough away that It didn't hear Emily and/or Chris on their way back to the lodge.

So according to the last sequence, where Chris doesn't open the trapdoor after finding Ash's beanie, the Wendigo is BOTH upstairs or downstairs, either waiting down the trapdoor, or up on the ceiling of the next corridor. At this point we've reached the part of the game where the developpers hadn't much time left, and this sequence is bad overall.
I think that's the purpose of foolishness. I also think this segment of the game is to test your knowledge if you've been paying attention to details. If you have, you'll have known that the Wendigo is capable of mimicking people's voices to lure prey to be ambushed. This is the moment where that knowledge is put to the test. You can also make a judgement call in this segment. If Jessica died in this run; you know that's not her. If she didn't, it's not until Chapter 10 that you chance survival as Jess (And Matt if he survived). This segment is entirely testing you wits and chances. If you haven't. This segment can easily pull at the fears of anyone that Ashley can outright ignore the cries of a friend. And pay for it with her life (And Chris's if he stayed behind).
No its not bad, the wendigo its a predator, he mimics jess voice again and when chris its halfway the trapdoor sound stops, meaning hanna its already in position to kill him or moving to kill him in the "safe" paths

This is the part I hate Chris. It's possible to have only Sam and Chris in the tunnel and Ashley dies via opening the hatch by Wendigo. Then Sam tells him to go back to the lodge but then he must have realized where Ashley has been and didin't even ask where she has been. If Ashley ignored the voice and Chris investigated the voice and opened the hatch, Ashley still says in the credits "I can't believe Chris is gone". Their relationship wasn't really built up in the later chapters. Also everyone is only complaining about Chris, what about Sam?
If you leave Chris behind initially but make Ashley wait and stand near the spot where he rests (you can interact with him there to make him come along with the group) until Sam and Emily get to the manhole area, will anything happen? Will it glitch to where you can hear the cutscene audio but Ashley is still standing by Chris? Will it just skip ahead to the cutscene? Will Chris follow the group if the latter happens, or will he stay behind still? EDIT: I tested this myself, and nothing happens till you interact with Chris. He will walk with you when you interact with him, and when you get to the manhole area Sam and Emily are standing nearby waiting for you. The cutscene won’t happen till Ashley and Chris get over there.
It's scientificaly proven that your head stays "concious" for about 7 seconds after being decaptated. Also your facial muscles go crazy without being connected to the body, so it would make it move without your control
Basically you're still alive for a little bit even after you're beheaded. I can imagine that anyone who got their capa detated would be in pure shock of it all and start tensing their face a lot
Sorry for the very late reply, but if you decide to leave Chris behind, then Ashley leaves a marker for him so that when he's rested a little, he will know where they have gone and therefore can catch up to the group.
+Ricky Whipple Yeah but Mike locked the door leading to the sanatorium behind him. The mine tunnel is the only way they could have gone so I don't see the point in leaving a marker there. I think It would be better to leave a marker for him at the fork in the tunnel.

So, I decided to leave Chris behind, and I decided to ignore the voice as Ashley, because I thought somebody can check up on Jessica later. And once I played as Chris, I decided to investigate Jessica’s voice, which I thought it was. And I got this weird hanging thingy Spider-Man death trap kind of death. The Wendigo was somewhere in the ceiling and pulled Chris up and killed him O.o
Is there a way to leave Chris behind & kill Ashley but still keep him alive so he only sees Emily coming back? Like is there a different cutscene or what?
Antonio if you leave Chris behind, and open the trapdoor as Ashley, getting her killed, there is no possible way to keep Chris alive at that point, he will die via going to rejoin or investigate since the wendigo is released through the trapdoor, so no you can’t keep Chris alive if you leave him behind and Ashley dies.
Both of Chris’ “inevitable demise” scenarios are tied to Ashley. If he chose to shoot Ashley in chapter six, his fate is sealed from there: in chapter eight, Ashley will remember he shot her and refuse to let him in should he make it to the lodge door. In this chapter, if Chris is left behind and Ashley dies here, he will die no matter what else the player does. The *only* surefire way for him to survive till the end is for him to either shoot himself or no one in chapter six, make it through his segment of chapter eight, and either don’t leave him behind or make sure Ashley does not die in chapter nine. He is the only character who has no possible death in chapter ten, so no matter what you do in that chapter he’ll live so long as you made the right choices in the other chapters that can affect his fate.
Bill Cipher Don't open the door on the ground when you investigate voice. But you do have to go there for a totem if you want to have all collectables. 😊
The totem in this area is in the little area to the left of the section with the trap door in it. Pick “Investigate Voice”, then walk as normal until you see the trapdoor, walk to the left. You might have to move around a bit but you should find a smaller area that way which has the totem. Either Chris or Ashley can find it (I think Chris can still find it even if Ashley died and he was left behind, as long as you find it before he goes to or past the trapdoor since it’s in the same area. Not sure if he’ll die if you walk in that area though.)

He knows. He doesn't care if she dies in the lodge explosion either. Here is my theory: I think Chris is closet gay for Josh. He obviously doesn't care about Ashley. If you save Ashley over Josh at the saw scene or shoot Chris at the gun scene you are playing Chris out of character. There is no way in hell he would shoot himself to save Ashley imo.

Sorry for the very late reply, but if you decide to leave Chris behind, then Ashley leaves a marker for him so that when he's rested a little, he will know where they have gone and therefore can catch up to the group.
+Ricky Whipple Yeah but Mike locked the door leading to the sanatorium behind him. The mine tunnel is the only way they could have gone so I don't see the point in leaving a marker there. I think It would be better to leave a marker for him at the fork in the tunnel.

The Dashing One Even if you do not find the beanie Chris will die if Ashley left him behind and opened the trapdoor. Not sure what happens if Ashley only unlocks the lock and left Chris behind. Not even sure if you can back out and walk past the trapdoor as Ashley after you unlock the lock but don't open the trapdoor
If Chris finds Ashs beanie there is no chance for his survival. This is because Ash opened the trap door after leaving Chris behind.

I don’t know why I thought opening the door was a good idea as ash 🤦♂️🤦♂️ like the game kinda tricks you as we see her alive the scene before. I’m pissed.
So, I decided to leave Chris behind, and I decided to ignore the voice as Ashley, because I thought somebody can check up on Jessica later.
And once I played as Chris, I decided to investigate Jessica’s voice, which I thought it was. And I got this weird hanging thingy Spider-Man death trap kind of death. The Wendigo was somewhere in the ceiling and pulled Chris up and killed him O.o
That's weird, considering you need Ashley to die by investigating the voice to get Chris hung like that. Hm, maybe it is a weird glitch or something.

Is there a way to leave Chris behind & kill Ashley but still keep him alive so he only sees Emily coming back? Like is there a different cutscene or what?
Antonio if you leave Chris behind, and open the trapdoor as Ashley, getting her killed, there is no possible way to keep Chris alive at that point, he will die via going to rejoin or investigate since the wendigo is released through the trapdoor, so no you can’t keep Chris alive if you leave him behind and Ashley dies.
Both of Chris’ “inevitable demise” scenarios are tied to Ashley.
If he chose to shoot Ashley in chapter six, his fate is sealed from there: in chapter eight, Ashley will remember he shot her and refuse to let him in should he make it to the lodge door.
In this chapter, if Chris is left behind and Ashley dies here, he will die no matter what else the player does.
The *only* surefire way for him to survive till the end is for him to either shoot himself or no one in chapter six, make it through his segment of chapter eight, and either don’t leave him behind or make sure Ashley does not die in chapter nine. He is the only character who has no possible death in chapter ten, so no matter what you do in that chapter he’ll live so long as you made the right choices in the other chapters that can affect his fate.
No so don’t leave Chris behind if you do lol

Bill Cipher Don't open the door on the ground when you investigate voice. But you do have to go there for a totem if you want to have all collectables. 😊
The totem in this area is in the little area to the left of the section with the trap door in it. Pick “Investigate Voice”, then walk as normal until you see the trapdoor, walk to the left. You might have to move around a bit but you should find a smaller area that way which has the totem. Either Chris or Ashley can find it (I think Chris can still find it even if Ashley died and he was left behind, as long as you find it before he goes to or past the trapdoor since it’s in the same area. Not sure if he’ll die if you walk in that area though.)

Chris is so fake. Ashley can refuse to leave him behind and if she does Chris will leave her behind for no reason. Ashley can leave Chris behind too but she has a reason (Chris was injured and slowing them down) and it's player choice, there was NO REASON for Chris to leave Ashley like that. Chris doesn't give a fuck that Ashley died if he doesn't find her beanie. He won't mention her in the credits if she died and he survived.

He's mentally hurt after all that happened, Chris is too much hurt to talk about his best friend that died. Of course he cares about Ash, but if he knew she would have been dead, it would have killed him. And Ash's not better 😂😂😂

+Clarisse Ashley knows Chris died if he opened the trapdoor and she survived (she will mention him in the credits). This is probably because Mike and Sam found his head in the wendigo cave and told her about it. Now, if they told Ashley about Chris don't you think they would tell Chris about finding Ashley's head? He knows. He doesn't care if she dies in the lodge explosion either. Here is my theory: I think Chris is closet gay for Josh. He obviously doesn't care about Ashley. If you save Ashley over Josh at the saw scene or shoot Chris at the gun scene you are playing Chris out of character. There is no way in hell he would shoot himself to save Ashley imo.
But if Ashley dies and Chris is left behind, couldn't he meets up Emily and how the hell can Emily survives ?!
