- Today we remove all the panels from the Power Wagon. Hey Guys, this is my brother's 1958 Dodge Power Wagon. It's time to get this classic V8 4x4 truck ready for restoration. Made in the USA with American steel. Let's see if we can bring it back to life. ctmoog

Hey Guys, this is my brother's 1958 Dodge Power Wagon. We've started the process of taking it apart for restoration. Check it out! =)
How jobs have you been fired from if it’s your brother’s truck have the SOB rebuild it himself this is it CT your gone your out of here I’m making a complaint with you tube about this BS this POS truck isn’t worth rebuilding
What about the rusty bug? I would like to see the project finished before another’s begun.
Did I miss the finish of the VW? Where's the bug?
Hey CT, it is so cold up here in PA. I am a Florida boy at heart. I went to school for chemical engineering at USF and eventually got my PhD. I would gladly offer my help when I move back down. I sold my house on Siesta Key when My mom got M.S. and I moved home. I really regret it now. I love seeing the sunny weather in your and Lord Duckman's videos....lol
Hey John! The Florida Sun is shinning my friend. Come on back! =)
@@CTmoog So Awesome. Thanks CT! Looking so forward to coming back. I have a bunch of projects to finish up here and I will be down for good. I definitely need your expertise on my Porsche 914 GT6 factory race car clone project. We can go over to Lord Duckman's place and race gokarts...lol
Give it up CT since you never seem to finish anything… why even bother ! Was looking forward to more episodes towards a finished V W, but alas another unfinished rusty bungle. A couple of weeks back it was the Porsche.
I just love these restoration series, i learned how to never miss the oportunity to buy another shitbox before finishing the last. Keep up the good work.
You will have to build a new barn for all the project parts off each project I think you have 7 on the go now, will we ever see one finished???
I like the vibe of your channel, CT. You’re living the dream. I don’t care which car you work on or if any get finished. It’s relaxing and entertaining just watching you do your thing. Thanks for sharing 👍
I appreciate that! Thanks Michael =)
I wish you would finish one project before another one get used to seeing work done on a project and you move to something else
Hey James, careful what you wish for it might come true! =)
if only, it was all going so well.
I agree
But that's where CT shines man, blowing shit apart, now that's what it's about, his mojo, his schtick!
Looking forward to seeing just how much of this truck survives restoration.
The cutting wheel ... man's best friend.
Nice work.
It's oddly relaxing on a cold winter night watching the process unfold. Thanks for letting us watch.👍
First truck I ever drove as an apprentice in 1967.
Just a piece of cake,uff...
=)
This truck is great. But, I hope you finish the Beetle. I really enjoyed watching that each week.
Thanks Todd, more beetle vids coming soon.
"We are getting there."
Thanks man! =)
I'm looking forward to the complete rebuilding of the 315 Poly head engine. Not an engine swap. When you remove the pitman arm from the steering box mark it's position with a center punch or chisel.
Thanks Chuck, I think that's what my brother is planning on.
are you going to finish a car
You should take restoration out of the title.
This guy has 215k followers just to watch him disassemble things and never put them back together.
I guess you haven't seen the last 6 months of videos on the 65 beetle? So close I can taste it! =) Stay tuned and stand by!
Jaaa. Hey I can’t even get 1k followers and I’ve been putting things back together but I guess RUclips doesn’t like that. People enjoy watching things getting taken apart as much as CT loves taking them apart. Jaaa check out my channel dude if you wanna see more disassemblies and hopefully reassemblies. 😆
what happened to the vw
Start as many unfinished projects as makes you happy. All viewers that need YOU to finish them need to start and finish their own.
A '58 v8 4x4 in that classic 50's turquoise. This was a hell of a truck when new and i hope you guys can get her back to her original glory. You never see these old 50's dodges fixed up anymore
It was fun watching you do all that work. What's going on with all your other projects? Give us an update.
Thanks Don, more updates coming soon! =)
You'd better be patient....
Ct if you don't start to finish a project soon I will unsubscribe because there is no point watching something to never see it finished I'm sorry for sounding negative because I really enjoy your video's .
Thanks Wayne, I'm glad you enjoy the videos. Stay tuned! =)
Yes really frustrating
I can’t wait to see more on this one… it looks so cool
=)
Them rims and tires looks like they were on a military truck 🤔
You might be right...
Love those old power wagons!!
Something so satisfying about using a grinder. I think its the sparks! 2:40
y que paso con la restauración del beetle ???????
Nunca termina ningun auto
si me perece que no !! me mire toda la restauración de la combi w y otras, nunca las termino !!!😡@@juancarlosgimenez4154
As the late wrestler THE MANCHO MAN RANDY SAVAGE once said OH YEAH
HAHA! =)
It sure is nice when you start out with a RUST FREE Truck like that one.....WOW that will be some work. I hope they make lots of parts for it.
I see you started a new project. Are you going to finish the VW?
Yes, Thanks Gordon!
You probably should spray all of the bolts/nuts down with Kroil, or even WD40 before you tackle them. For the steering wheel, I would try drilling out the holes for the next size and re-tap. Try using a fine thread tap first, as they require a slightly larger hole, and you might cut threads enough to pull the wheel. When I first started wrenching in 1959-60 I didn't know crap, but was willing to learn, and my Dad was a fountain of information, from when he was a farm boy about my age. My first procedure was to keep pulling out bolts 'till the part I wanted fell off! I remembered this when you were working on the bed!
i used to have this exact truck. 1958 W200 with a 318 poly swapped in. man i miss that truck. a friend of mine has a '58 D100 and i've taken 3 or 4 of these trucks apart. so if you need information or parts just ask. we might have it.
What all engines did they come with then? I thought they were all 318 Poly if V-8 Mine is 1958 with what I think is the 318 Need front drivers fender big time though
CT, just admit you have money issues as to why you hold back in completing your projects. There's no shame in admitting that.
Good video! Can't wait for the pressure washing of the chassis!
Kudos to the dude who forced the stick shifter to move but did not push the clutch in. Have fun fixing the tranny too.
Drill the next size larger hole into the steering wheel flange and tap them to that size, then use that size bolts to help remove the wheel. You might have to fabricate a few other pieces such as the steel plate that the two new bolts go thru. there is likely a large bolt the goes toward the center of the steering column to back the wheel off of the steering column shaft.
Thanks Joe! I will give that a try.
I have a 58 power wagon power giant, the frames are post war quality ,so i put mine on a 68 w 300 frame. the power giant were the fist 4 + 4 civilian made trucks. only made for 4 years, around 5000 made in total, your V8 is the first 318 big block or also known as the mini HEMI. It will be a head turner when you are done.
Hey I’d be into seeing what you did with yours I’m looking for drivers front fender for my own Any idea where to start? It appears this is going to be very hard to find
I just bought one the same year. not sure i want to go that far. Cannot wait for more videos
Just got one myself In good condition but front left fender all smashed up
Nice! Owned a 1948 Power Wagon panel truck. No syncromesh, no power steering, the air boost for the brakes had died long ago so driving it was a free workout every time. On one road trip a buddy tried to drive it and quit before we'd gone twenty miles.
Nice and Solid, can see that its from the Route 66 area, i.e. Pacific SW. The cars and trucks from there have beautiful Sunrust, i.e. NO rot. Keep it up! 2:40 Love the grinding, I think its the sparks
That truck looks great can't wait till you start cleaning it get
This was same year Dodge truck used in 1964 movie Roustabout that brought back Elvis's 1964 Honda 305 Superhawk motorcycle after it was fixed. Now the truck is worth saving.........
That is really cool. I had no idea. Yes, we will have to save it for sure! Thanks for sharing that!
Classic CT - get moving and motivated on one project and BAM! he’s switching it up to another project. Always something new and interesting! 👍🏽
SUPER RARE!!!! SWEEEEET! I MISS THEM OLD DAYS LIKE BACK IN 1978, FULL FRAME UP ON MY 53 GMC 5 WINDOW. IM TOO OLD NOW, ARTHRITIS, BAD BACK, KNEE, LIFES BADGES OF HONOR I GUESS FOR BEING A GEARHEAD. AT LEAST I FINISHED MY 31 KOOP IN 2018 BEFORE I GOT TOO RIKKITY. MAN ITS BITTERSWEET NOT BEING PHYSICALLY ABLE TO PULL OLD STEEL OUT AND WORK ON IT ANYMORE. .... HAVE FUN , I WILL BE WATCHING... "RACE"
Thanks Race! =)
This generation of the Dodge Power Wagon was manufactured until 1966, especially with the panel trucks. I can wait to see how you do with yours, or your brother's for that matter.
Thanks Kelly!
@@CTmoog you're welcome
Looks like A lot of fun if you enjoy this kind of fun ,
Yes, it's a good time! =)
Love the cinematography!
Thanks Peter! I really enjoy it! =)
Znowu kolejny złom który zapewne nie skończy.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂😂😂
Tip ....Soak your bolts/nuts with penatrene and then slightly tighten before loosening after wire brushing the thread.....Saves time and usually doesn't require the use of cutting devices
I'll miss that green & rust but it will be amazing when restored 👍
Love it! I have one of them as a dually W300 I desperately need a drivers side fender
Another new project started without finishing anything you’ve already been doing. I think it’s time to unsubscribe and find a channel that gets it done.
Hey. There is always my channel if you are looking for something that gets completed. But when you are a one man army it takes a lot longer than expected.
You might like Rotter's Garage channel, he just finished restoring a 1958 apache and in working on a 1928 model a ford.
What happend with f100??
The Swamp Dragon? =)
Yes it would be nice seeing more on the projects you already started but this one is your brother's and he is cool with storing all these vehicals there so as long as you keep the content coming I'm happy😊 eventually you'll run out of room and you'll have to finish or sell them🤣🤣
Yup. I was thinking the same thing. He kinda has to give the truck priority cuz it’s his brothers shop space. He probably saw CT doing all these projects and was like hey man fox my truck. But actually this could turn into a business for CT because his bro is his first customer in a way. A year ago no one would ask CT to restore their Classic not even a brother so it shows something that CT is getting request. That’s how a lot of small businesses start out.
Thanks CT ! Live Life ! Straight Ahead ✌😎
Thanks Mike! You the man! =)
Love your channel CT but can see this ending up the same as all your other unfinished projects. 🇦🇺🇦🇺👍👍
Thanks Robert! Let's hope not! =) 😎😎😎
That’s pretty cool CT!!
Thanks Slade! =)
Waooo duro trabajo para una sola persona
Thanks Hector! =)
Looks like nice warm weather there been very cold where I live. :-(
Hey Terry, it's really nice in Florida this time of year. Come on down! =)
COSTA RICA...super very beautifull truck
Wow can't wait to see this running and driving it looks like good bones
Thanks Richard! 😎😎😎
@CT Are you going to try to revive the current motor or are you going to preform an engine swap? I'd love to see a 24 valve Cummins under the hood
Good luck seeing this compleat. It will soon just be a pile of rusty parts. Big waste of money.
Que belleza amigo estas haciendo un buen trabajo te felicito dejala vien bonita a esa Reliquia
Bom dia é ótimo projeto que se inicia e cadê projeto do fusca
I have been a long time subscriber to all your videos. You have four or five projects on the way and none of them will be completed. Let's go back to Rusty.
E o fusca? Rsrsrsrs.
No termina nunca nada ja ja
CT
Thank You again
It is a great vídeo
You make My sundays better
My pleasure! Thanks Joe! =)
Any late 1955 to 1958 cab will have the wrap around windshield and the same dashboard. Instruments are a little different. '59 and '60 are the same cab with a dashboard they used up to the early seventies on LCF heavy truck series.
Hermosas líneas y modelo, restaurado quedará espectacular, a trabajar!
I’m not even gonna read the comments cuz I know there is gonna be a lot of negative Nancy’s. Everyone wants to be a critic but who is putting in work on their own projects and making videos about it…? I see your channel as free entertainment so why should I complain? If I don’t like it I wouldn’t watch it. 😁 keep doing what ever you want CT and people are still gonna watch so who cares. I would enjoy seeing at least one project get completed but again it’s free (kinda, I just got premium) entertainment and I enjoy watching your shenanigans.
Good luck!
Thanks Patrick! =)
One badass project
I know by now, we see a lot of content for a few years😉👍😎
Very cool project.
Get her done it's going to be awesome truck
Thanks Marty! 😎😎😎
I enjoy your videos a lot. I seldom add any comments but I should oughta as I'm 79 and have been around for a bit. Couple of things here. Most 6 volt system were positive ground. I have been seeing several videos recently where the guy doing the work obviously did not know that. Also, get some 6 point sockets. don't have to be impact sockets unless you are using impact wrenches. In this video there were several instances where the nuts or bolt heads were rounded off by using `12 point sockets or wrenches. 12 points are fine for non-rusted fasteners but they will cause extra time and effort on rusty ones. That's all minor, keep up doing what you're doing.
The hard thing about it will be finding some of the parts. I wish you luck and maybe the two of you will can work on his truck. If the engine is not repairable, might just do a frame and engine swap with newer Dodge. You then could have all of the newer accessories and parts available with look of the old truck. Maybe even Hemi. This would leave you the body work to do. His call, his truck but either way it will be adventure.
Excellent video CT :) that truck Steering wheel take have drill screw in those small hole with Carpbite drill also use big thingers outter part and bolt in middle squish out if didn't work you have get newer type GM , Ford, Dodge Steering wheel plus shaft and box near engine be task but I know want do it ! Also Engine, transmission will be need rebuild and clutch to do agree that plus wire harness to rewrire to also ! Looking forward more videos too soon CT :) great disassemble tear down!
Hope to see more of this.
Thanks Mickey! You will! =)
? Do you finish anything you start
Parabéns pelo seu trabalho é ótimo, só nunca os vi pintados
That poor thing... love it.
As a professional mechanic that's restored cars and built them, I always try to encourage others to work smarter, not harder. You make everything as difficult as you can dream up. I owned my shop that I built Door slammers in. The last one I'd EVER trust to tear anything down is you. This truck is a candidate for scrap but if you work half as hard making shit as you do causing yourself problems, you can save the whole truck. Try taking a step back and looking at possible solutions, instead of mangling shit, will save you more time in the end. All of the piece you've destroyed were templates for new shit. Be more methodic in how you take shit apart. Getting in a rush, with parts this old, and finding replacements for the scrap you make, is gonna bite you really hard. You wanted comments so there ya go. I want to see vehicles this old returned to service. I like this kind of content. It being a Dodge, a new hemi would be a killer candidate for it. Everything to make the drive-line work is in the salvage yards. You could even drop a 12 valve in. But stop destroying shit. Your inexperience is a glaring sore thumb.
Know where a guy could find a drivers fender? I’m way up Canada and there is nothing like the truck I have for many miles as far as I know
Scrap the Power Wagon Clyde 😄
To remove the shifter their is a spring loaded cup you have to push down and turn to remove it can trikey clean out around the ring and lubricant push down the shifter then push the cup down and turn.
channels growin like wild fire.......keep tearing stuff up!
CT, I found your Channel cause of the Beetle, I own two later Beetles, too, I'm a complete VW-maniac. But I got stuck here, no matter what piece of rust is in process. 🙂 The way you act, this easygoing way, always laughing when things happen, it's different to so many YT-channels here with guys in loud and hectic.. Keep going on, and all the best from Germany, nearby Wolfsburg.....
Thanks Peter! I appreciate that buddy! =) 😎😎😎
Beautiful video
Im not positive, but I think that truck is a W100. The front fenders on the W200 come down below the bottom of the cab a good ways.
Set in cab with khees behind wheel to help pull and put a block of metal on steering shaft and while lifting with your knees hit the block with a bfh and it should pop off.
Cool truck ,hoping plenty of spares out there but maybe cab is fixable ? Wings (fenders)didn’t look to bad to repair
Thanks Andy! I think we can save some of the metal. 😎😎😎
Hola !!!, muy buen video como siempre, perdón, pero me hizo reír mucho el desarme súbito de la caja de carga......
Heck yeah nice work!
Thanks David!
Don’t give up on it!!
Nice truck!
Some of the old 50's vehicles had positive ground hard to say how they kept up with that at the corner gas station repair.
Use a next size up bottom tap on the steering wheel or disconnect at the steering box and pull it with the cab. As for the engine it should be a 315 Poly spherical , worth restoring .
man you making my back hurt you have a lift there dont get hurt
Where are the New vídeos of 1965 beetle restoration?
Camionete antigas e muito top 😃😃😃
So much rust! But you’ve seen that before 👍🏻this is gonna be a ton of work though CT. It looks like you’re tearing it down to the frame?
