I think I can say without exaggeration that this is in the best top five percent of all of Jay's shows. He and Winslow connected through the truck so well.
This guy has to be Jay's best spoken guest. Very informative. Edit: I've actually interacted with Bisi, and the only thing nicer than him, is his tuning skills!

Nice!!! we had one like this, just with a wide cargo platform, and we used to transport all provisions plus firewood through the snowy slopes of the Patagonian Andes. I think it was a 1947 model almost unmodified from the army issue, except for the paint (red+black). It did its job very good, except for fuel consumption... The winch was used quite a lot, to move the boats, heavy logs, and the truck itself when needed (for snow plowing we had a Unimog, besides a Land Rover Series 2A for moving around). We also rented a Dodge Carryall model 1959 to transport the customers of our fishing lodge. I was just a kid so I do not remember technical details, but the wagon used to be from the Border Control Police, and operated in the high desert plateau of the Atacama Desert before moving to Patagonia as a civilian car. It still had the official greenish-khaki color, just without the markings of the service unit. We also towed a big trailer for the wooden fishing boats (4, 6 to 8) with it. As a kid I loved these cars, I thought I was just back from WW2 whenever I traveled in them... (I even built a tiny 1:72 model of the WW2 truck, the one with the howitzer) The new RAM is just a meek consolation compared to these living monuments! But today I would rather go for Unimog, Pinzgauer or Volvo (army surplus), who are more than capable for such hard performances! (and I would love to have my old Landie back, knowing that the Defender is just overpriced junk, and even convinced that Toyota always built the far better 4x4 anyway) greetings from wild, wet, windy and wonderful Western Patagonia
This is awesome and I love Winslow's story... Gets laid off from his job, decides to build a badass truck, and then turns it into an innovative small business. Went from his garage to a 10,000 sq ft facility employing 10 guys. Incredible American success story.

I drove a 1952 Dodge M37 for about 10 years. My every day ride. It was an ambulance that I put the troop carrier body on, took out the flathead engine and installed a Chevy straight six. My Dad and his buddy had a trucking company in the 30s with one Diamond T single axle tractor. After Pearl Harbor Dad became a USMC motor/mechanic - infantry marine. When he was discharged in 1946, he bought 2 crated/Cosmolined Dodge Power Wagons (DOD surplus) and had them shipped to Milwaukee where he and another mechanic uncrated/assembled/degreased the single axle Dodges. His new company put all 3 of his kids through coillege and retired Mom and Dad quite comfortably. One of those Dodges was still hauling pulp logs when I started college in 1966. Some truck!
Ive really watched nearly all of Jays videos and I absolutely love his channel, and despite my more natural lenience toward viewing the more prolific, high performance, expensive exotics/show/muscle cars and the likes, this particular video is certainly close to being my favorite. You can really see the great interaction between Winslow and Jay, its cool to see a couple people who are essentially strangers suddenly connect on so many levels through this truck. Even better, I really love hearing Winslow explain his philosophies behind his machines and his company, and even more the laughter and enjoyment he clearly exihibits throughout the video, really illustrates his love for engineering/trucks and appreciation he has in doing this blog with Jay.
I was looking for somethin (?)like your comments. This was a very enjoyable program. They were like kids! You should look at the one where the French museum when Jay can’t get it out of first gear; how cold the atmosphere was.
Honestly, I can't picture Winslow runnng a restaurant, say nothing of three! And the snobs you run into in Jackson is unbearable! Leaving that mire is probably why he enjoys life now!
This was the Burma road truck - designed literally to drive through hell on a 50 degree grade. The new turbo kiddies may scoff at the 4BT upgrade, but IMO it's an absolutely "correct" choice - it speaks to and honours what this truck was meant to be.
+xynudu The Soviet Union got well over 100,000 Studebaker US6 6x6 trucks via Lend-Lease in WWII. The trucks to my knowledge were well liked by the Soviet troops and also quite famously the Soviets mounted Katyusha rocket launchers on them. Additionally the ZIS-5 and ZIS-6 two of the most common WWII-era cargo trucks in use by the Soviets (and their respective variants) were copies of Autocar trucks (Autocar being a US company). Some other popular trucks in the Soviet were based off of the Ford Model AA truck platform, almost 1 million of these were produced under license from GAZ and UAZ.
Always was my dream for about 20 yrs now, I also fell for the dodge power wagon concept truck for many years back, but I don't play the lottery !! lol !!
NUTS -- I guess it ain't his - he can still call it anything he wants to - I know I know I hate bein' told how I can and / or cannot talk - next up will be the Dream Police
had to laugh, Jay was surprised the truck was 8,000 pounds. The fenders and wheels probably make up two tons by themselves. That guy did a real professional build. I'm truly impressed. Got to love his choice of engine, that 3.9 diesel can pull like a locomotive. The 6x6 can crawl through some serious slop. We had the newer version in Nam with a big six cylinder diesel and they went through some un believable terrain. They can push trees down like a bull dozer!
Everyone commenting how expensive this truck is?? Yup it is coz that winslow guy worked hard in it, built it with so complicated but powerful, strong vehicle, good looks.. main thing is 6x6 vehicle is only made by mercedes and its very expensive. So here we are getting a 6x6 trolling tank ready to rock anywhere. This vehicle is symbol of monstrosity, country side people will be happy with this truck.
Ckryse S nailed it. I mean the merc 6x6 was originally meant for the Australian army. Then it got cancelled and became a poser wagon. This power wagon. Half the price and I would have it any day over the merc.
Dodge made 6x6 power wagons this is not a one off, I drove by one in a field today. They were the work horses of the US war machine in the 40s, 50, and 60s. So there were thousands made, this is way too expensive. It costs about 10k to get something this big down to metal for paint using sand blasting, the 6x6 already exists but you need to make a lift kit and gear it for the Cummins and new tranny that together can be another 15k. Now those tires are probably over 1000 a tire. That is at least 6k. Throw another 10 or so for fabrication including man hours. This was a rip off, haha
George Glass there’s another solution if you want a 6x6 and is a Toyota Land Cruiser 70 series. No that expensive as a Merc, not that monstrous as the power wagon and yet pretty capable. That said there is no doubt this build have twice the cool factor of any other similar one.
22:39 I love Jays race idea 😂 back in the late 90s early 2000s i worked at a mom n pop hardware store and i was a chevy guy and the boss was a Ford guy so we were always razzing each other. I had an 87 blazer on 35s and he had a stock explorer with a 302 in it. He said how hed beat me in a race I said ok let's do it when thers a foot of snow on the ground. He never raced me lol
Dang, I just noticed this was published in 2015. Why haven't I seen this before now? I absolutely love this build. Makes me want to get an old Power Wagon and do a build of my own. That is one of the most amazing colors I've ever seen. I thought it looked familiar and it all clicked when he said it came off a Wrangler. Totally awesome job this guy did. PROPS!!!
That's probably your GVWR. Your truck's curb weight is probably around 6,400 lbs depending on if it's a duallie or 4x4...max curb weight for that vehicle is about 7,200. GVWR is what shows on the door jamb tag, that's the total of the vehicle's weight plus the maximum load it was designed to carry.
L TR NOPE....MY TRUCK WEIGHT THE SAME 7900 LBS...ITS A 4X4 MEGA CAB 1500...BUT THE MEGA CABS WERE 2500 CHASSIS..WELL IT WAS ACTUALLY 7700 LBS ON A WEIGHT SCALE THE CUMMINS WEIGHTS MORE THEN A HEMI ENGINE ABOUT 250 LBS MORE IF ITS A CUMMINS MEGA CAB 4X4. SO YOU RITE BUT RIGHT NEXT TO THE GVWR IS THE WEIGHT OF THE TRUCK.
I just watched your Apocalypse 6 x 6 which I just happen to love but like I said I am 69 years old retired and this is my style I love this truck so much it’s a thing of beauty a four-cylinder long stroke diesel it doesn’t wanna stop running and six big wheels on the ground and I used to call myself a four wheeler but I’ve always wanted a 6 X 6 but everyone I looked at was more Worn out than me. In the army we called them deuce and a half, As I’m sure you well know. Thank you Sir, once again, I always love your stuff.
@Eric Van Yep have to figure original vehicle cost parts costs how long it takes to build. 10 employees is 10 paychecks a week. And yeah unless you're a government entity you are in it for a profit. I bet his profit is between 50 and 100k depending on the build.
+OMGWTFLOL I was gonna look for this "G" comment before i made it.....it was the first one , so it was easy to find..CUMMINGS is a female comedian, CUMMINS is what this power wagon has in it,,,,LOL
Jay Leno, you’ll probably never read this, but my FIRST TRUCK EVER was a 1971 dodge powerwagon. It was a 3/4 ton STEP-SIDE short bEd 4x4. The bed was diamond plate steel. 4.10 gears, 318 v8, and when I bought it there was only 26,000 miles on the clock. It was my local jurisdictions old firehouse truck originally, that ended up in a local farmers barn until I bought it at 16 years old with money I had saved from bailing hay. I ended up in a financial crunch in my mid 20s and had to sell it, and have regretted it ever since. I put a bunch of blood sweat and tears into that truck and miss it dearly. NEVER sell a powerwagon!!!!
I know I'm a late starter and all your vehicles look beautiful but for me there is one that has served the military through and through and still active today. And M35 A2 multi-fuel. I had one built for my father when he was sick. When I saw him get out of the wheelchair and hold on to it he said he would live forever. Don't forget the M35 A2 deuce
A WC62 or 63 absolutely rocks the world! Miles of traction and the walking beam rear suspension are almost as good as it gets. Add 3 Torsen diffs, and there you go! Just about unstoppable.
Back in the tonight show days, I used to think I didn't like Leno. Now I can say what I didn't like was the Tonight Show itself, because I could watch Jay Leno's Garage all day! Love the passion, knowledge, humour and how he keeps it moving and on track with the questions.
One cousin of my father just present me few moments ago this truck that my granfather had in his life. It's incredible these kind of very old classic trucks were restored this time. Love old cars and trucks, too cause they are part of our old family's memory. Meanwhile in my country, (Ecuador) this trucks were in a waste trash, in the United States of America there are people that are converting old and damaged cars into new ones. They are giving a new opportunity to use antique vehicles into work.
I've watched a BUNCH of Jay's videos and he is always informative, and seems to really enjoy driving everything he can get his hands on. I do have one complaint. Jay can't seem to stay in his lane. He constantly drifts to the left over the center lines. So Hey Joy, keep up the good work, but stay in your lane, okay?
+Matthew Higashyama NO, it wouldn't. I think you missed the part about the top speed being 55, rather than 70. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever to add more power. As soon as you add more power, you have to gut the drivetrain, throw out the suspension. At that point you have a completely different truck. Put a 5.9 in it, and you might as well have a light frame and a fiberglass body. What is the point??
+Matthew Higashyama I would go for a Dana 80. Maybe a high pinion Dana 70 in the front. But again, you start doing that and you have a completely different truck. Right now, as it is, you have a very utilitarian beast - the beast that it originally was, but with new parts, so it will be dependable and maintainable. If you want a freeway truck, find a Kodiak 4500 4X4 that was in a roll over. Put an antique truck body on it and call it good. But that is not what this truck was ever intended to be.
Great Video. These Dodge WC’s were supplied to Norway refurbished under the 50’s Cold War Lend Lease Programme. (I have a WC62 from Norway). A few found their way back to USA via collectors. This truck appears to have a 47 Power Wagon Grille and Cab.

Now that is a truck. That is kick butt. I love the original 1940s parts.
somehow all of those crazy rear leaf suspension components/ differential systems now totally make sense !
now that's badass
+Arlind Sadikaj Good one mate .... 5 Ichiban Moto stickers coming your way ;)
+Arlind Sadikaj I just have to figure out how to transfer this newfound knowledge over to motorcycles ;)
Ichiban Moto if jay saw your tools, he would lose his mind!
+Arlind Sadikaj Jay might appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into my hand made artesian screwdrivers
Now that truck is fantastic. Really impressive. I could push my neighbor's house further away with this thing.
Lol nice 👌 that's what I would do also.
Lol..it is not so difficult. American house weight is like average chicken house in Europe. 😆
LMAO
There's not houses in Europe there are apartments
@@zepter00 ??? maybe in the ghetto
These are some of the best trucks Dodge ever built. I love these old power wagons.
I think I can say without exaggeration that this is in the best top five percent of all of Jay's shows. He and Winslow connected through the truck so well.
I had a 58 flathead dodge and drove it everyday. This is so way cooler
That guy Winslow ... what a cool dude!
jamesnikki5 That’s exactly right!
@@KryzMasta exactly
Absolutely yup!
*Are you Kiddin'?...........It's as if "Data" from "Star Trek-First Contact" stopped by, with his Emotion Chip malfunctioning.*
*I was hoping Jay would deactivate him with a "Spock-Pinch".*
My Dad and his buddy had a trucking company in the 30s with one Diamond T single axle tractor. After Pearl Harbor Dad became a USMC motor/mechanic - infantry marine. When he was discharged in 1946, he bought 2 crated/Cosmolined Dodge Power Wagons (DOD surplus) and had them shipped to Milwaukee where he and another mechanic uncrated/assembled/degreased the
single axle Dodges.
This guy is awesome. The coolest things seem to come from the tinkerers just messing around in their garages.
This was the Burma road truck - designed literally to drive through hell on a 50 degree grade. The new turbo kiddies may scoff at the 4BT upgrade, but IMO it's an absolutely "correct" choice - it speaks to and honours what this truck was meant to be.
"my lug-nuts have more torque than your muscle car does". Noice.
Sweet looking truck.
I feel Jay really got along with this guy haha, much more than some other visitors. Good stuff.
Always wanted an old Power Wagon . This one is off the charts . It also be perfect for Iceland driving.
I love Dodge Trucks and that Truck is a masterpiece I love it
Those old Dodges were one sexy looking truck.
Some early Russian military trucks look very similar.
That was the style back then.
+xynudu Yes, "Урал" looks very similair, almost all cars and trucks in USSR were copied from Ford, Fiat or other models.
+xynudu I think Russia got supplies from America.
The Russians live to reverse engineer
J always makes me laugh, and he always makes his guests laugh. He’s the best.
200 mph speedo and a 10,000 rpm tach...Winslow has a sense of humor.
I know right?
+noveltygoat LMAO, thanks for pointing that out. I think he said he was going for "WW2 bomber gauges" but it's still hilarious. I need that truck!
+WelcomeToMyDream i know right?
funny.
It's good to have ambitions. :)
Diver, Sky ..
One of my all time favourite vehicles that have been on the show.
Hard to beat
Always was my dream for about 20 yrs now, I also fell for the dodge power wagon concept truck for many years back, but I don't play the lottery !! lol !!
Gorgeous build!
Power Wagons are always cool and this 6x6 is really something special (love that color!!), great job by the Legacy guys!
This is my dream truck.
+briansmobile1 I'm freaking out over the truck. Somebody help Jay out. There's no G in Cummins.
+briansmobile1 my dream truck too!
+briansmobile1 as a trucker and mechanic I always hear it said wrong.

+SW20AE86 Jay dose that in all his videos I don't think he wants other cars pulling up and ruining the shot .
I love the sound those old straight cut gears make. That is such a awesome truck.
Jay is funny as hell, the Toyo comment had me rolling
Beautiful looking truck. Love the 6 Rod rear suspension, same as heavy duty freight trucks have.
My dad had a 1952 International pickup. It had very similar styling and seeing those two getting bounced around in the cab brought back memories.
had to laugh, Jay was surprised the truck was 8,000 pounds.
@@humbertorubi4947 old unimogs arent that expensive. I saw a 6x6 diesel unimog firetruck with cascade gearbox for 15,000 last year on craigslist.
Mic Krout sure!! But they are not very common. But the comments on the price are referenced on the G63. Unimogs are great 👍🏻
22:39 I love Jays race idea 😂 back in the late 90s early 2000s i worked at a mom n pop hardware store and i was a chevy guy and the boss was a Ford guy so we were always razzing each other. I had an 87 blazer on 35s and he had a stock explorer with a 302 in it. He said how hed beat me in a race I said ok let's do it when thers a foot of snow on the ground. He never raced me lol
Absolutely gorgeous.
As true to the brute roots as can be while being modern enough to be feasible today.
An amazing time machine.
Scookum!
Words cannot describe how much I love this truck. :)
The smile on Jay's face when climbing that hill is great.
And that is the best truck I have ever seen.
Jay was humming the theme to "The Odd Couple," not "Hogan's Heros."
Every time Jay says "fantastic" you have to take a drink.
+IndyFlick Ugh, I have to work tomorrow, otherwise I'd be so in...
+IndyFlick the better game would be to take a drink every time the guest says "exactly right"
+IndyFlick And you'd be hammered after a few minutes
+IndyFlick - Don't forget "nicely done".
+IndyFlick Exactly
Dang, I just noticed this was published in 2015. Why haven't I seen this before now? I absolutely love this build. Makes me want to get an old Power Wagon and do a build of my own. That is one of the most amazing colors I've ever seen. I thought it looked familiar and it all clicked when he said it came off a Wrangler. Totally awesome job this guy did. PROPS!!!
This may have been 4 years ago but man that is an amazing job on that build.
my ram 2500 5.9L cummins is 8,000 pounds. so I think that truck is impressively light for how heavy it looks. great job!!
Good point. The truck is already heavy. What happens when you come to the under built or old bridge above the river you cannot drive through?
No it doesn't it weighs about 6500-7000 lbs.
Best Power Wagon on the planet. Thank you Mr. Bent and thank you Jay for sharing this wonderful piece of history with us!
Can't believe I passed over this video so many times, it was awesome, thanks Jay
I liked when Jay started humming the "Hogan's Heroes" theme, then realized it was really the "Odd Couple" theme. 😜
I knew it wasn’t Hogan’s Heroes but I had to think for about 30 seconds to remember what tv show it was.
I have to say this out of all the vehicals you have had on your show, this is my favorite!
One of the best guests Jay has ever hosted!
Holy crap, this is basically indestructible!
Thank you Sir, once again, I always love your stuff.
very very cool !
makes the hummer look like a bummer.
That dude can't stop laffin' !
200gs a copy ?
I'd be happy , too.
@Eric Van Yep have to figure original vehicle cost parts costs how long it takes to build. 10 employees is 10 paychecks a week.
And yeah unless you're a government entity you are in it for a profit.
I bet his profit is between 50 and 100k depending on the build.
Man this is cool, knowledgeable fella who’s passionate. I love it. Coolest color too!
One of my all time favorite trucks, easy top 5. I love Power Wagons. Very nice mods/resto on this one.
Awesome vehicle, but Jay…there's no "G" in Cummins.
+Jason Atkin - This was driving me insane.
+OMGWTFLOL I was gonna look for this "G" comment before i made it.....it was the first one , so it was easy to find..CUMMINGS is a female comedian, CUMMINS is what this power wagon has in it,,,,LOL
+Jason Atkin Don't Cummings make dampeners?
+Greyarea23 Don't you mean dampeningers ;) ???
+Jason Atkin Here in California lots of people say "Cummings". That's the way I always hear it.
Love Power Wagons, they're the cats pajamas. Thanks, Jay, for making another truly enjoyable video!
Amazing build Mr. Bent! Thank you for featuring this truck Jay!
Absolutely incredible. The most beautiful build!
I love Power Wagons they look so BADASS!
This is such an incredible truck! One day very soon I will own one of these!
I think it's hilarious Winslow knew the name of the artist that sung "Convoy".
Shouldn't you be shooting some clay blocks ?
I never expected you to be here...
+TAOFLEDERMAUS
I had the LP.
+TAOFLEDERMAUS Hey, Coming to shoot up some of jay's cars? Or do some experiments in his garage? :P
really it was a bread commercial that inspired the song
Veeeeery coooool car. I love it. Nice, funny...perfect.
And very good guest. One of the best explanations.
A WC62 or 63 absolutely rocks the world! Miles of traction and the walking beam rear suspension are almost as good as it gets. Add 3 Torsen diffs, and there you go! Just about unstoppable.
That thing is awesome!
Hey..
+Jay Leno's Garage That's a seriously manly truck 20k pounds towing capacity....I can hear Tim Allen grunting in approval
I hear him grunting, anyway.
Back in the tonight show days, I used to think I didn't like Leno. Now I can say what I didn't like was the Tonight Show itself, because I could watch Jay Leno's Garage all day! Love the passion, knowledge, humour and how he keeps it moving and on track with the questions.
What a beauty, what a beast !
Video doesn't do justice, this thing in person is got to be a breath taking masterpiece =D
By far the coolest build I’ve seen. Especially with the 4bt with the rotary injection pump. That VE pump will last a life time
Perfectly built. 6x6 power wagon absolutely love it !

@@Koala223 Who was this comment meant for ?
3:17 I love how he corrected Jay without really correcting him.
Would be cool if they made a 5.9 6bt or new 6.7 cummins in this thing
he was saying it wouldn't fit the bodyand original sheetmetal, but that little diesel it making monster torque that's what gets you up the hill
+Daveinet I hear you. It's a shame though that as far as pulling trailers goes, this beast couldn't reach legal/safe speeds with anything hooked up
+Daniel Pearson Dana 60s?
Toyo tires! lol. Good catch, Jay.
Jay loves his lifts. Every episode "these are cool, aren't they?" LOL >_
If I had that lift, I would sit up at night just looking at it, with my 77 450 sl on it..lol
true... It is cool. So he has to say
He probably had them for free, for the same reason ...
