I know you like the more continuous balls, Luis. However, it seems like you make angular work more than you probably care to admit. You made that 1500 polish look better than the 4k, in my opinion. For me, I do like the more angular motion down the lanes. But I have a couple of continuous balls for when the lanes require one. Otherwise, I'm generally throwing either urethane that I bowl straight with or an angular.
I agree with you Don if I want something to hook earlier I will throw the Proton or Phase 2 . I love the 1500 polish Altered, two Zens Phase 4, two Axiom Pearls. I pre ordered my Zen Soul and plan on polishing it 4 k cover looks strong. Thanks 😊
HUGE HUGE fan of this decision! Great video bro! When I get a new ball, before I even throw it, I put a surface on it without any polish. I do this so I can repeat that surface without needing to re-learn the ball too much. Great explanation in the 4kFast surfacing!
In a prior video you spoke about doing some educational vids, can you do some for beginners? I’m 4wks into bowling and basically built an arsenal around your vids new and old. Appreciate the vids you put out. Ideas (hitting your target, swing, release, thoughts when approaching a full set vs spares, deeper thoughts into reading the lane, what you’re looking at in detail) thanks
I really like the look of the 4k more. I'm not one that wants to move in if I don't have to and the 4k looks like it has a nice curve to it than the polish did. Love the content man. You provide a ton of good info on these new balls.
That’s kind of great news, it’s way easier to go from box to 3000 or 2000 or if I want to use my 5000 pad. I don’t have to remove the polish from the pours of the ball. Or I can polish it on my own.
How is this easier to replicate? After the finish wears off don't we have to start all over with all the different size pads to make it become 4k fast again?
Thank you for this review. I just purchased the Zen 4k finish and after the burn this ball drove through the pins like crazy unlike my Nova that would leave 7’s.
My (Spectre replacement) Zen arrived the day before our last night of fall league and I had it drilled that day. I bowled great with it but the last night was no tap for fun so I can’t count those scores. I practiced with it this week and had a 204 (only a 142 average bowler here) so I was psyched. This video was super informative and I love the idea of the fast 4k finish. Since I have a Zen Master to compliment my OG Zen, I think I’ll keep it at the 1500 Polish, for now anyway. I’ve only been bowling a year now, but these balls are both awesome, and it was definitely your videos that influenced my decisions so thank you! 😊
@@LuisNapoles the CTD pads are really good! Thank you... you're the reason why I took a leap and tried using sanding pads! I even got a ball spinner! Your videos (ball reviews, bowling drills, etc.) are inspirational to the average bowler!
Love the video, I like the 4000 finish to smooth out the reaction. Would like to see the difference between straight 4000 finish compared to the 4k fast finish.
I have two team members that have the Zen. When their balls stopped hooking a bit, I hit them with hand applied compound. The shine and tackiness came back, and they performed better. The compound got it down cleaner through the heads, and gave it some bite. You have to really work the compound in, until it starts to be shiny. It doesn’t take much, but it’s a work out.
I got my replacement for the Wolverine I sent in (Didn’t match up to the Wolverine at all) because I figured why not try out a different ball. Got the Dark Code with the 4k-Fast finish. Absolutely love the way it moves down lane.
4K Fast looks good, definitely seems like it digs earlier for sure. I'm with you, I love the look of polish but I enjoy the performance from putting a little surface on it. Do you think Trucut pads would be able to get all the polish off say if I went 3000 and then 4000 (P5000D by hand) or would I have to go all the way to the beginning with 500, 1000, 1500, 2000, 3000, P5000D. Great video, thanks Luis!
Trucut pads definitely cut deeper (more surface) than the Abralon pads the Storm videos use, so starting at 500, then 1000, etc up to the 5000D would pretty much equate the same process for the 4K Fast. Great video, though, I agree with the comparison shots!!
When doing a major surface change I would personally break from the Trucut promise to get the surface on the pad on the ball. I would go low and work up. Once there and doing maintenance on the ball surface I'd just use the P5000D. It's also worth noting that the Trucut steps to establish a 4k finish are actually 3k then half time p5000d. Ref: the Trucut page from CTD. Cheers.
I guess I’m in the minority that likes polished finish. I tried using surface on my Hustle Camo due to several recommendations, but didn’t like it at all so went back to polish. I also put polish on my Proton and like it much better.
Luis already knows my reaction about this. I took a 2000 pad to my Zen after his suggestion. "Now Zen ball Good". Storm not doing the 1500 polish anymore? Wow!!
Great explanation of the 4K fast finish. I been wondering what the difference would look like on the lanes. Now I'm thinking about changing my Zen to the 4K fast finish.
I'm not a fan of polished surfaces either. I usually bring them home and throw them on the spinner and hit them with either 3000 or 5000D. I did throw my Altered Reality OOB for about 25 games and really liked it but it currently has the CTD P5000D on it.
Glad to see this whole "polish" cover being moved away from. Makes things much more manageable. I actually took my Zen down to 3K from the polish after a few games to get a more consistent motion. Loved it. I think others will also.
Nice video does storm have a ball similar to the el nino wrath mine got stolen when I was younger and liked the way it worked for me shot 4 279s and 3 7s when I was 15 want 1 but don't want to spend 400 for a vintage ball
Luis, can you get your hands on a Phaze 2 that has been poured since the USBC incident? I've heard rumblings about newly poured equipment(off the PBA truck) not rolling the same as before the whole debacle.
I agree with a 4K finish over 1500 polished. This surface has led to over/under ball reaction for years, so the 4k finish is welcome. However, the reason could be as simple as reducing cost of production, or possibly it's a supply chain issue in getting the polish. Regardless of the reason, I like the change of going to 4K. I've done just that with my Phaze III. It's not much more controllable with a smoother down lane motion.
If 4K is way better, then why did Storm not use it for all these years? Don't tell me they "didn't know better", because they test all balls in all surfaces. If the reason was just production cost, again, why not do it 10 years ago? Nah, it's just that now the whole issue of hardness is going on, and they want to avoid more balls being banned, as polish reduces hardness measurements.
The only balls I've liked with polish on them are the dark code and the phaze 4 and I even want to say they look a bit better getting beat up a little too. I should probably try a polished ball and knock it down and bring it all the way up to 4k and see how it does though because I've thought about it before and think that it would really round out the reactions. Maybe my parallax effect lol
Luis, another very informative video. I’ve noticed that you often say that you are moving left “one zone”. Can you explain what you mean by this? Are you moving your feet, your target or both? TIA
Yo Napoles do you have any vids on finger protection or what you use on your fingers and thumb. Getting back to the lanes after 20 years away!! I got some old Lane #1 balls and will soon get some new equipment. BTW do you bowl regionals or PBA tournaments. Great vids.
Yeah for my local centers (3) 4k made this ball feel like a solid. went and got it polished and the ball was a beast wherever I threw it, did not have switch balls at any point during league which was first and there was guy using urethane.everybody is different great vid I thought the polished ball looked better.
I just punched up an x2 yesterday and it has the 4k fast on it. And it's straight ridiculous and bounces from pretty much everywhere. Idk what the 1500 polish was like but I can't see that being better than this new 4k fast.
Great video, appreciate the comparisons. Subscribed! Quick question, does the 4K Fast ball have that 'tacky' feel like a polished ball or only after it lane shines?
@@LuisNapoles yeah, that makes sense. The ball does look shiny still even before it lane shined. When they were on the table I couldn't tell them apart until you said which is which.
Hello Luis. Love the video. Quick question, when doing the 4k fast process on the spinner, how many seconds per side per pad? And, is the process wet or dry? Thanks.
I am stoked about the move away from polish. For new bowlers, it's a lot less confusing. And for people trying to get the ball back to factory finish without a spinner, it's a lot more doable now... And a lot less messy. Polish is a pain to work with.
Makes sense they'd do this - one, I'm convinced they saw a pattern with the soft-banned balls (I think all of them were 1500 polish). Two, many people knocked the polish off before even throwing it (especially pros). Three, the name '1500 Polish'...I don't even know where they got it from. They had what it was in some of the ball descriptions on their website - 500/1000/2000/4000 and then a polish applied. I have no idea where the number 1500 came into play there. It's interesting that in the video they said they did the same sequential grit pattern for the new 4K Fast. Anyway, looks good, funny though I just bought a Hyroad Pearl but it was from what was already in stock so it's got the old finish on it. Ultimately I'm just gonna keep it at plain 4000, anyway.
I'm wondering if they also did this for more accurate durometer tests as well. I just watched a video from STORM showing how polish can seriously affect the durometer readings until the polish wears off. The video showed how big the numbers can vary and essentially showed up you know who when it comes to varying results.
@@LuisNapoles Totally agree. After seeing that video and how 2 calibrated machines can literally give results far enough apart to pass the ball on one and fail it on the other says a whole lot about it. I mean, I almost would say that variance is enough to lift a ban lol.
Thanks for your videos. When you move left would you mention how much you move your feet AND target. How much is a zone? 10 and 5? Also, do you change hand position when you move in?
@@LuisNapoles Hi Luis, thanks for your reply. I have been bowling for 45 years, averaged 200 as a righty with minimal hook and odd ball roll. 10 years ago I switched to lefty and average 180 bowling in one league. The hook is more natural but with slow ball speed I feel I can't play outside of 3rd arrow. However as I move deeper should I change my release. J R Raymond also reviews balls on RUclips and chases it in but doesn't mention changing his release. I am starting to get away from asym skid flip balls in favor of solid symms. Am I on the right track. P. S. Ignore the haters! Most people appreciate your insight. Thanks
What is the difference between the 4K fast finish and a standard 4000 grit finish as found on the IQ tour solid? I assume the number of steps in the sanding process?
With my hyroad x I used it with Polish great from straight but when I started moving in and ow hooking was not working I had to get loose and free wheel on it.after that on a spinner with my ctd pads I went 1500/3000/p5000d took it to the 5500 to 6200 grit with no Polish. And it hooked more and was more controllable then with factory surface.
According to storms recent video of the 4k fast finish they don't mention using a 3000 grit pad in the process. They use a 360,500,1000,2000 and a 4000. Would adding a 3000 pad in the process effect the true 4k fast finish ?
They are already shipping the 4K Fast balls! If you buy it at a pro shop just have them make sure what they have isn’t the 1500 polish. Even if it is it’s easy to replicate
Hey luis i just baught a zen do you think pin down is bad idea for someone that likes to play straighter? I liked the pin down reaction you had in one video with zen but i think your rev rate is higher then mine
I called it weeks ago when I saw that all the restricted storm balls were factory polish. I figured they just would go away from that until they figured it out. If old cover stock formulas like R2S are suddenly out of spec then it has to be a treatment like the factory polish compound altering the hardness.
@@LuisNapoles that's kind of my point. Same formula yet the new stuff is suddenly out of spec? Must be something they are doing to the ball like the polishing compound or process. That is unless it's not truly the "same formula". If both are R2S pearl and all the new shiny stuff is out of spec then that's a bit of a peculiar fact. Plus they suddenly stop doing factory polish and switch all balls to 4K grit? Sure seems logical to me that they identified the problem was with their factory polishing system and so they came up with a quick work around so that they don't need to discontinue 6 balls mid life span.
Can you please help me I was wanting the 4K Fast but in the description it is saying it is 1500 grit polish at bowlersmart. Thank you very much for your time and videos.
@@LuisNapoles there’s no video’s. Hickland provided the only detailed videos of that process, while storm was selling their polishing products. Hickland went as far as using expensive surface readers to educate his viewers. Find me some materials on RUclips that predates Hickland and I may consider believing you. Definitely not out of the Storm Camp. Now all of a sudden it’s new to them. lol Fast 4k. It’s just how you work up to 4K finish BRUH
@@webmoss there’s no need for videos. I started bowling 15 years ago and even then pro shops, pros and companies always talked about knocking the shine off the ball. ron didn’t create some new surface it’s always been around. Hey Lou, I know back you used to use the CtD P5000D pad to get some of you balls to 4000 grit by hand. But if some bowlers still want closer to the Polished Finish couldn't they use CtD P5000D by ball spinner to gel a non polished but still 5000 grit on their ball?

Hey Luis, so I already have a Zen, but I don't have a Solid Symmetrical ball. So with the Zen bot having polish do I still need a Solid Symmetrical ball? I was thinking about getting a Phaze 2 what do you think? Thanks!
@@LuisNapoles well I also have the Zen Master and with it being 3,000 Abralon finish. What would performing the same process to it and stopping at the 3,000 accomplish do you think? My reason for asking is it seems to lane shine fairly quick.
Thanks for the video. A few issues though : 1. The shots with the 1500-polish were 15 at the arrows and 5-6 breakpoint. One was 16 at the arrows and 6 breakpoint. But the shots with the 4K were all 2+ boards left at the arrows. When trying so similar balls, one needs to compare perfectly same shots otherwise even 1-2 boards can easily have more of an effect than a 4K grit and a 5K grit ball. I suggest you watch your shots before going to the next shot, to see if you actually hit your marks. 2. Then when you moved a whole arrow left : The 7-10 shot was 20 (arrows) to 8 (breakpoint). Your 4K shot was 21 (arrows) to 11 (breakpoint). That is a pretty big difference. So big that it was 99.9% the cause of the different reaction/result, and not just the lack of polish. 3. On your next zone change, i was expecting 25 at the arrows (since you were 20 before), but most shots were still 20. You had just changed your angle/breakpoint towards outside. So it was harder to compare again. 4. You made a great point about the no polish one getting lane shined and gradually becoming closer to the polished one.
So a few things here: 1. I’m not a robot I’m gonna make errand shots. I always show every shot. Please show me ANY one on this platform that repeats “perfectly same shots” 2. Again I’m not perfect no one is. Just doing my part helping grow the game of bowling. 3. I don’t target at the arrows so 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️ 4. Thanks…
@@LuisNapoles 1. Ι think it is obvious that we are all humans. You shoot much better than me. I wasn't commenting on that. My point is, that when doing COMPARISONS, (especially like these that are close to begin with), we need to either record the exact lines with both balls, or not at all and just leave it to EARL the robotic arm. Otherwise you will come to wrong conclusions, and thus pass the wrong conclusion on your video and viewers. Also i didn't say "you need to repeat perfect shots". I said you need to RECORD same shots. If you are just reviewing a ball, it doesn't matter much. If you are doing delicate comparisons though, it matters a ton. It's a matter of whether you want your comparison to reflect reality or not. Just a friendly advice, no need to be apprehensive. Accepting constructive criticism is a big advantage. I don't think i was rude anywhere. 2. One cannot help grow the sport with comparisons that give the wrong conclusions. That is the whole point of my advice. You are free to disregard it of course. No worries. 3. Doesn't matter where you target, only what you hit. Your first zone was 15, second 20, 3rd....still 20. So something didn't add up there. 4. Welcome! :)
@@bowlingxp8345 there’s plenty of “RUclipsrs” who pick and choose what shots make the video. I cut zero shots out because that’s what bowling is. We make errand shots. I’m here to show the people that it’s okay to not repeat a million shots in a row.
Wonder if Storm’s replacement balls they will send me will have 4k fast on it! They are sending me an X2 and a Dark Code so I’m curious to see what finish I get
you can see the difference in the light reflection on the surface. The sanded non polished finish, you can see the rougher surface by how the light spreads out on the surface. The polished you can see has a reflection like a flashlight with a bulb that reflects off a mirrored surface. No way the 4kFast is nearly as clean as the polished finish. You can see the texture.
@@LuisNapoles there isn't much difference by eye. id like to see the speed down lane comparison. It did appear that the fast 4K did read a little earlier. I have always used similar on my dark code. I usually go 1500 and straight to a quick and light 4k to just smooth the peaks of the 1500 pad
Video idea I’m returning from a 12 year hiatus I’m throwing old equipment (mutant cell, mutant cell pearl, OG Cell) I’m averaging 210 in sport league. What 3 balls would you recommend
So what does surface maintenance on a 4k fast ball look like?! Just touch up that last 4000 step?! I have a Code Red that I may take to 4k fast just for the sake of adapting to changing equipment……… I personally love when it’s time take out the Pearl balls and let em’ hickey stick back down lane haha.
i havent bowled league or any bowling since 2004..until a work event a month or so age...im still using my late 90s 3d offset...all this new stuff is confusing...about the polish and 4k fast...wow im out of touch
I mean 4k or 3k is perfectly fine along with polish. I never use factory finish anyway. I just sand up the balls myself then polish if I have to. Anyone can just shine their balls themselves. They cut the polish out for the hardness controversy imo. Since the polish restricts the ball from hardening as fast and might have an effect on the testing. It's smart to get rid of the polish for their end.
The polish doesn't effect the ball Harding or not. The polish effects the needle which will give false results. The hardness testing isn't an exact science per the company that makes the durometer
@@LuisNapoles idk. It may slow the ball from drying out and the testing will pick up the polish as well. When you clog the ball with polish and stop the plasticizer from drying out it has to help. Just like how a shiny ball will absorb less oil than a sanded one. Can't come in and can't come out as fast. This change definitely has something to do with their problem. Too many coincidences
Luis, in your comments to Scott Keenan's post you stated "Storm uses Abralon pads like ALL the other bowling ball companies". In a follow up retort, you stated "What I'm saying is that ALL the bowling ball companies use Abralon for a reason". Last time I checked (a couple of minutes ago) Brunswick brands (7) use Sia Air pads. I have never seen Motiv state any specific brand of pads in any of their promotional or technical information that I can remember over the years. Just saying!
Watch their video on the hardness changes based on temperature, polish etc. This is Storms reaction to their ball ban. Polish gets on the testing tool and changes the results. I don't blame them because after watching their video it was clear the hardness process is entirely flawed.
I'm just confused about the 4k finish. I watched the storm video but I'm still confused. I can see going from 4,000 down to 500. But how does going from 500 back up to 4,000 help the 4k fast finish? Why would you need several layers of different surfaces built into the ball? Why can't someone just do 4,000 then polish? I hear you can't do that but ut doesn't make any sense to me. I want to buy a rst x3 with the 4k fast finish but I worry when the surface naturally changes I won't be able to restore it.
If you have to sand from 360 and each increasing step I see nothing fast about 4k fast lol. Also I messaged Ron Hickland CEO of Creating the Difference to get his take on this seeing as sanding with CTD pads is different than other sanding pads. I am still waiting and hoping to hear back from him
Question- for a new ball with the polish finish (got last week), would you recommend using a small amount Storm Reacta Scuff to take polish off, or would that be too aggressive?
i think the 1500 polish better for amateur bowlers which give them more room for mistake than the 4k fast. they feel they created more hooks like the two handler bowlers.
i wonder if this will hurt storm. the avrage joe look for shine looking balls with boom. and 4k fast reasly take that away. yes 1500 gritt is very over under, in the end a company care mostly about what make them sell and this realy hurt the rep storm have for backend motion.
I am by no means an expert and maybe Luis can tell you more. Just from what I have read, it maybe a hardness issue. It could be the cause of the USBC placing a ban on their tournaments due to failing the harness test.
Well you're wrong about one thing the factory polish is not too right it's not too angular it's the best polish but the 4K fast sounds something like what they say create a difference uses and they use that pad that's a 5,000 pad that basically polishes the ball without polish
I just saw this video. That means if I shoot a 300 with my IQ Tour Fusion it would be invalid? Because that ball comes with 1500 Polish out of the box as noted below. To make sure the polish gets off the ball I would do what Storm says and start at 360 and go all the way to 4000
Trucut pads definitely cut deeper (more surface) than the Abralon pads the Storm videos use, so starting at 500, then 1000, etc up to the 5000D would pretty much equate the same process for the 4K Fast.
Hey thats okay!
Good video Luis. Hopefully, it will be easier to get the ball back to factory finish.
DEFINITELY will be!
Luis already knows my reaction about this. I took a 2000 pad to my Zen after his suggestion. "Now Zen ball Good". Storm not doing the 1500 polish anymore? Wow!!
Zen at 2k is also so good! Also correct yea no more polish from Storm!
Thank you
Great explanation of the 4K fast finish. I been wondering what the difference would look like on the lanes. Now I'm thinking about changing my Zen to the 4K fast finish.
Do it!! You’ll love it!
Its the sam as the Gem. I made the Gem 5000 polish grit. Fantastic finish. Thx Luis. Love from Holland.
Thanks!
I'm not a fan of polished surfaces either. I usually bring them home and throw them on the spinner and hit them with either 3000 or 5000D. I did throw my Altered Reality OOB for about 25 games and really liked it but it currently has the CTD P5000D on it.
I only threw stuff with polish for the videos
Glad to see this whole "polish" cover being moved away from. Makes things much more manageable. I actually took my Zen down to 3K from the polish after a few games to get a more consistent motion. Loved it. I think others will also.
I couldn't agree more with that Jack!
Thanks for all your great videos. I have learned a lot from your videos. Thank You !
I really appreciate that!
great and informative video sir. i was definitely curious about this. ZEN BALL GOOD!!!
Thanks! I’m glad this could help!
Nice video does storm have a ball similar to the el nino wrath mine got stolen when I was younger and liked the way it worked for me shot 4 279s and 3 7s when I was 15 want 1 but don't want to spend 400 for a vintage ball
Nothing with a diff that high unfortunately
Luis, can you get your hands on a Phaze 2 that has been poured since the USBC incident? I've heard rumblings about newly poured equipment(off the PBA truck) not rolling the same as before the whole debacle.
I’ve drilled plenty of stuff since then including both of these zens and they roll just like before
Can't wait to see this video from you I know this real be really good video and it will help verybody out
Thanks!
Bad typing - I meant it's "now" much more controllable . . . Thanks.
I’ve heard lots of supply chain issues about the polish but I’m not 100% sure. I do know that from a reaction stand point the 4K Fast is WAY better
I don’t HATE the polish I just always prefer the little bit of sanding over the polish
Luis, another very informative video. I’ve noticed that you often say that you are moving left “one zone”. Can you explain what you mean by this? Are you moving your feet, your target or both? TIA
A zone is a full arrow
Yo Napoles do you have any vids on finger protection or what you use on your fingers and thumb. Getting back to the lanes after 20 years away!! I got some old Lane #1 balls and will soon get some new equipment. BTW do you bowl regionals or PBA tournaments. Great vids.

@@LuisNapoles thx Bro… feel excited to get back!
Crazy because Zen is my next ball! So 4K fast it is
You’re gonna love it!
Yeah for my local centers (3) 4k made this ball feel like a solid. went and got it polished and the ball was a beast wherever I threw it, did not have switch balls at any point during league which was first and there was guy using urethane.everybody is different great vid I thought the polished ball looked better.
Im not a fan of polish on anything LOL
I just punched up an x2 yesterday and it has the 4k fast on it. And it's straight ridiculous and bounces from pretty much everywhere. Idk what the 1500 polish was like but I can't see that being better than this new 4k fast.
1500 Grit polish was basically a 1000 Abralon followed by the Storm Step 2 compound polish, But I agree 100% The 4k fast is WAY better IMO
Great video, appreciate the comparisons. Subscribed! Quick question, does the 4K Fast ball have that 'tacky' feel like a polished ball or only after it lane shines?
Thanks for that Norm! It def doesnt FEEL as tacky as the polish because there isn't that foreign substance on the ball if that makes sense!
Thanks.
15 and wet
@@LuisNapoles Thank you 😊
I am stoked about the move away from polish. For new bowlers, it's a lot less confusing. And for people trying to get the ball back to factory finish without a spinner, it's a lot more doable now... And a lot less messy. Polish is a pain to work with.
Agreed agreed agreed!
I feel like it's less doable. So many multiple steps. I feel confused.
The 1500 polish was basically 1000 Step Two compound polish
@@LuisNapoles yes sir.
I'm wondering if they also did this for more accurate durometer tests as well. I just watched a video from STORM showing how polish can seriously affect the durometer readings until the polish wears off. The video showed how big the numbers can vary and essentially showed up you know who when it comes to varying results.
The problem is that the company that makes the durometer that usbc uses says it’s not an exact science and the usbc acts like it is
@@LuisNapoles Totally agree. After seeing that video and how 2 calibrated machines can literally give results far enough apart to pass the ball on one and fail it on the other says a whole lot about it. I mean, I almost would say that variance is enough to lift a ban lol.
I have a phase4 with the 1500 and a hustle camo with the 4k or 4k fast. Its personal preference but I like the 1500 polish more.
Yea totallly preference!
I have not been a fan of how the Zen reacts (for me) … looking forward to this one …
I hope the new finish matches up well with your game then!
Thanks for your videos. When you move left would you mention how much you move your feet AND target. How much is a zone? 10 and 5? Also, do you change hand position when you move in?
I used to do that back in the day and then I would get slammed for missing by a board haha so no thanks on that
@@LuisNapoles Hi Luis, thanks for your reply.
4K fast doesn’t skip steps in the sanding process where 4K would be 2000 then 4000
With my hyroad x I used it with Polish great from straight but when I started moving in and ow hooking was not working I had to get loose and free wheel on it.after that on a spinner with my ctd pads I went 1500/3000/p5000d took it to the 5500 to 6200 grit with no Polish. And it hooked more and was more controllable then with factory surface.
Nice!
According to storms recent video of the 4k fast finish they don't mention using a 3000 grit pad in the process. They use a 360,500,1000,2000 and a 4000. Would adding a 3000 pad in the process effect the true 4k fast finish ?
In the video Alex says they dont skip a pad. So he didnt mention 3000 but he said they dont skip any pads
What’s up Louis? I’d like to get my hands on another Zen. How do we know when to start purchasing the balls with 4K?
They are already shipping the 4K Fast balls! If you buy it at a pro shop just have them make sure what they have isn’t the 1500 polish. Even if it is it’s easy to replicate
How about HyRoad pearl with 4k and !Q Tour solid with 4k
!Q tour will be earlier and smoother
Thank your for this video man!
You’re welcome!
Hey luis i just baught a zen do you think pin down is bad idea for someone that likes to play straighter? I liked the pin down reaction you had in one video with zen but i think your rev rate is higher then mine
A pin down zen will definitely allow you to play a little straighter!
Just wanted to ask luis, do you know someone called Andy penny? Don barrat’s trainer
I do not know who that is
I called it weeks ago when I saw that all the restricted storm balls were factory polish. I figured they just would go away from that until they figured it out. If old cover stock formulas like R2S are suddenly out of spec then it has to be a treatment like the factory polish compound altering the hardness.
IF that’s the case then why is the Phaze 4 “out of spec” then why is the hyroad pearl not? Both are R2S
All the new ones are reactagloss finish
@@LuisNapoles Thank you very much.
Storm jumping the bandwagon on 4K fast. Ron Hickland Jr has been preaching this for years with CTD.
I definitely don’t think it’s a bandwagon. People have been doing this surface for way longer than hickland has been “preaching” it
@@LuisNapoles there’s no video’s.

I would go with what storms factory finish is with is 360 all the way to 4000 Abralon
Curious on trying this on my idol pro. See if it helps not be so skid flippy.

Good morning friend
Morning!
Zen ball good regardless surface 👍
Agreed!
Thanks for the video. A few issues though :
So a few things here:
1. I’m not a robot I’m gonna make errand shots. I always show every shot. Please show me ANY one on this platform that repeats “perfectly same shots”
2. Again I’m not perfect no one is. Just doing my part helping grow the game of bowling.
3. I don’t target at the arrows so 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
How many ball do you drill for yourself per week?
Per week prob 0 lol per month prob 1-3 depending on releases and tournaments
Wow. Almost exactaly what Mo Pinel said verbatim. He always discouraged the use of polish
I’ve never been a fan on polish!
Wonder if Storm’s replacement balls they will send me will have 4k fast on it! They are sending me an X2 and a Dark Code so I’m curious to see what finish I get
They will be 4K Fast. I got my Hy-Road Pearl and X2 today and they are the new finish.
Like Chris said they’ll definitely be 4K fast!
Awesome! Can’t wait to try it out!
you can see the difference in the light reflection on the surface. The sanded non polished finish, you can see the rougher surface by how the light spreads out on the surface. The polished you can see has a reflection like a flashlight with a bulb that reflects off a mirrored surface.
No way the 4kFast is nearly as clean as the polished finish. You can see the texture.
Did you watch the shots? Lol they were VERY similar on the lanes lol
@@LuisNapoles there isn't much difference by eye. id like to see the speed down lane comparison. It did appear that the fast 4K did read a little earlier.

Cool man!! Thanks!
Would putting 4000 on my old zen be just the same?
If it has polish over the top I would do the full resurface then after that you can do like 2000/3000/4000
i havent bowled league or any bowling since 2004..until a work event a month or so age...im still using my late 90s 3d offset...all this new stuff is confusing...about the polish and 4k fast...wow im out of touch
Start small and learn as you go! It’s still bowling
Brunswick uses siiar yes. When ebonite was their own company they used abralon and so does motiv
Watch their video on the hardness changes based on temperature, polish etc. This is Storms reaction to their ball ban. Polish gets on the testing tool and changes the results. I don't blame them because after watching their video it was clear the hardness process is entirely flawed.
SUPER flawed! Plus the 4K fast is better than the polish anyways!
I want the code for that shirt Luis
NAPOLES10 is the code on CoolWicks website
Looks like Ron at CTD had it right all along
Sure lol
I'm just confused about the 4k finish. I watched the storm video but I'm still confused. I can see going from 4,000 down to 500. But how does going from 500 back up to 4,000 help the 4k fast finish? Why would you need several layers of different surfaces built into the ball? Why can't someone just do 4,000 then polish? I hear you can't do that but ut doesn't make any sense to me. I want to buy a rst x3 with the 4k fast finish but I worry when the surface naturally changes I won't be able to restore it.
well 4kfast doesnt have polish on it. The reason you start with 500 and work your way up to have some teeth underneath to help with traction
Hey Luis
What's 4k fast ?
I went through that in this video LOL
If you have to sand from 360 and each increasing step I see nothing fast about 4k fast lol. Also I messaged Ron Hickland CEO of Creating the Difference to get his take on this seeing as sanding with CTD pads is different than other sanding pads. I am still waiting and hoping to hear back from him
He’s gonna tell you that his way is the only way 😂😂
Based on this vid I’m gonna put my zen at 4K fast

@@LuisNapoles your very welcome
Question- for a new ball with the polish finish (got last week), would you recommend using a small amount Storm Reacta Scuff to take polish off, or would that be too aggressive?
If you wanna take it to 4K fast then do the 360 all the way to 4000 without skipping pads
Reacta Scuff is not too aggressive, but I think it would be similar to the 4k fast if used with a ball spinner.
Can you start at 500 instead of 360 then go up from there?
Yea
i think the 1500 polish better for amateur bowlers which give them more room for mistake than the 4k fast. they feel they created more hooks like the two handler bowlers.
It’s actually the opposite. The 4K fast will be way more forgiving than the polish
the 1500 polish looks better. 4k don't look good going down the lane. but great video
That’s all a matter of opinion I guess. But from a reaction standpoint the 4K fast finish will be more predictable and that’s a fact
i wonder if this will hurt storm. the avrage joe look for shine looking balls with boom. and 4k fast reasly take that away. yes 1500 gritt is very over under, in the end a company care mostly about what make them sell and this realy hurt the rep storm have for backend motion.
The smoother ball motion will help the average Joe LOL plus they can always polish it after the fact. no need to overthink here
That 4k fast seems to sluggish, I like the extra pop from the polished ball that's why I got a pearl ball. To each their own though.
Pearl doesn't mean extra pop though. there's PLENTY of smooth pearls. you can always add the polish after the fact
Why no more polish
I am by no means an expert and maybe Luis can tell you more. Just from what I have read, it maybe a hardness issue. It could be the cause of the USBC placing a ban on their tournaments due to failing the harness test.
Storm claims polish messes with the needle in the hardness tests, making them test softer.
Makes it easier to replicate surface prep. Plus it’s not a claim about the needle it’s a proven fact lol
@@LuisNapoles That's why we have Luis. lol
Well you're wrong about one thing the factory polish is not too right it's not too angular it's the best polish but the 4K fast sounds something like what they say create a difference uses and they use that pad that's a 5,000 pad that basically polishes the ball without polish
Scott that’s a matter of opinion so I’m not wrong in the same way that you’re not wrong
I really like 4k
