    COMMENT: What are your thoughts on the new 4K Fast Finish?

    • @joshg218
      @joshg218 2 года назад +6

      This wasnt 4K fast. You need to properly put the teeth under the 4K for it to have traction in the back of the lane. You turned it into a neutered 1500grit surface ball so it was too early but not smooth enough in the back end to get that quick traction.

      I don't have a spinner; however, I took several pads from 360 to 4000 grit to my Hy-Road by hand and the last two were wet. Used the ball on my next outing for a few frames. Wasn't impressed. Took a 3000 grit pad to it and tried it out again. Whoa! Nice mid-lane reaction and finish. Lots more miss room. Liked it...

      I don’t like that they went away with the polish. I don’t believe that has anything to do with them being too soft. I don’t think it’ll stop being from buying storm balls. People can try it at 4000 and if they don’t like it they can always take it to 1500 polished.

      This wasn’t 4K Fast. According to Storm, it’s 360, 500, 1000, 2000, 4000, not just 4000. This video is misleading those who wants a true comparison between 1500 polish and the new 4K Fast. Wasted my time watching this.

      The only ball I have that came 4K Fast is the Burner Pearl, I was gonna polish it but decided to try it out at 4K and I think the ball rolls amazing!!! Storm went to 4K so that you’d be able to truly see the strength of the cover stock and with it being 4K it still gave you the length down the lane as if you polished it.

    4k fast means that they go from 500 to 4k without skipping a pad, so 500-1000-2000-3000-4000.
    As for what i think about it, I haven't tried one with that specific surface. Generally I have always done my own polish job with Step Two so that I can reproduce it compared to what SPI used to put on the ball. That said, if it shuts USBC up, then I'm all for it.

    The polish did not make the balls soft. The residue from the polish caused lower readings in subsequent tests. Watch the Storm video. They explain all of this.
    You did not adjust the surface of the X2 to 4k fast. All you did was 4000 after box polish. 4k fast is NOT a fast spin. 4k is a progression of abralon starting at a course pad, and progressing up to a 4k pad. This will create a different reaction with teeth underneath. Watch the Storm video on this too. They explain the process.
    I love your guys videos but if you would have watched the relevant videos Storm produced on these topics, you would have all the correct info about the use of polish and how it affects surface tests and what 4k Fast actually is.

    1500 polish all day. Storm better figure out how to get polish back on balls without the hardness issue. Every other manufacturer has polished balls.

    Your 1500 grit no polish almost looked shinier than factory 4K Fast directly from Storm. If a ball comes out of the factory at 1500 grit, it will laser scan at 1500 grit. This is why I never use Abralon, because 1500 Abralon scans much higher than 1500.

    these people need to start making solid colors, the tied dye stuff looks like what happens when kids mix different colors of playdough together hahhahahahahhaa. Ive been looking at old bowling balls on ebay, even if it makes me worse, I dont care. 200 plus for a ball, we should be able to pick better colors

    All of this is way overthinking. All these different balls are just the manufacturers' way to sell WAY MORE balls with their marketing tactics and the bowlers just fall for it over and over again. Hilarious actually

    I have the Alert which I liked and I had my shop do the Storm instructed full 4K fast 5 step process from 360 pad to 4000 and I like it even more. Its a subtle difference but makes the ball a tad smoother and almost makes the ball more versatile from the fresh to alil later in the blocks then the polish.

      I jjlust for one and I use it as a spare ball.. it goes very straight. I'm a higher tilt 20° and 30 rotation, 13 to 15mph on screen. Layout is 30×5½x35. Maybe I should had gone with a shorter pin to pap? Still trying to understand what I should be using and my sum ratios for layouts. I have been using zen soul at 1500 grit or sometimes 2500 depends. I tried using my honey badger Intensity pretty straight as well as my all road. Haven't used my iq tour edition or outer limits hybrid. Going to try to knock the shine all and see if that helps like it does my Zen soul?help

  • @Popsplace42
    @Popsplace42 2 года назад

    Ummm, a polish is not a product that stays on the ball. It’s a compound that sands it with a buffing pad. Why do bowlers think polish is a coating on the ball?

    • @Popsplace42
      @Popsplace42 2 года назад

      Let’s say you sand the ball to 1500, now you polish it, it’s not 1500 anymore but much much finer. Hence the shine.

    The more seriously I took the sport, the less I even wanted polish on my balls anyway. If you need a cleaner reaction, why take a full-price or nearly full-price ball, then ruin its cover with polish? What's wrong with a cheaper ball that flares less? I know that's not what the manufacturers (and ignoramuses that think lower price = lower quality ball) want us to think, but it's how I personally see it.

      Good day, It took me a moment to understand the process. It's a little confusing right. The process starts at 360 grit. There's no 3000-grit pad used as it is not used in their finishing process (according to their resurfacing guide from 2012 and before: www.stormbowling.com/downloads) except to finish the ball at 3000-grit.
      Here’s Storm’s video explaining 4K Fast: ruclips.net/video/Xy59kdaqZ7Y/видео.html
      The finishing process is mentioned from minutes 1:18-1:25 and again from 7:00-7:18. When Alex says: "We're not skipping any grits in between... We're literally not going to skip any steps..," it's to be understood "contextually" not "literally." I hope this helps.
      Storm's 4000-grit finish goes from: 500-->2000-->4000
      Storm's 4K Fast goes from: 360-->500-->1000-->2000-->4000.. (again, no 3000).
