I have a question about a Yamaha 660 that is a 686 now.... I'm thinking about doing valve adjustments because it has a tiny bog in every gear like it wants more gas was thinking of moving washer to slowest possible setting at needle jet in carb... not sure if that will make the difference... but as for the valves with the bore am I still looking for factory spacing with feeler gauge or does it have to be different since it's technically running with more power.... that's my main question as of now... I've tried looking at forums and couldn't find anything ????
My 660 was doing the same thing on the top and bogging out feeling like I need a gas when you open throttle net why I was running it it turned off completely, and now it just turns over but won’t fire that be the cause of the stater
Great video i’m in the process of replacing my stater and rectifier just waiting for them to come in the mail. But my bike was running fine and I left it alone for two months went back to it and no preignition sounds and no start the bike is quiet and no lighting. I used a 12 V light tester and checked the inputs to mostly everything and getting power but nothing is lighting up And still have nothing have you ever ran across this problem? Maybe the new stater rectifier will help the problem any input?
Piece of cake. Get a new stator cover gasket, oil and filter. Blue loctite the screws that hold stator on. Just take pictures, pay attention, put it in like an it came out. The cover is tuff to get off, just take your time
With it running you should get about 14 volts at your battery. ,,. You can get a stator on ebay, or we could probably ship you one from here at our shop
I have a 04 660r that only gets a single spark the moment I let off the start button. If I unplug the rectifier I get a great spark. Do you think it’s my stator? Any tips to figure this out?
@@geezermoto7820 10w40 synthetic you put it as motor oil .. just switched the stator on my 05 660 .. and also the colors on the plug 🔌 are coordinated different .. I need to fix that cause it won’t start right
I had no spark, only once in a great while if I let off the starter. Changed stator, now it runs but bogs on top end... have a new rectifier as well but did not help the situation. Adjust valves? I already replaced spark plug and ignition coil
@@geezermoto7820 would they need to be cleaned if they were just cleaned in the end of April? The air filter didn’t look the greatest, could it be that?
@@walkernienaber824 could be air filter abd be sure to put new plugs in, they foul easily, and yes, ethanal goes bad quickly, need to blow through carbs or soak them
Great video, You actually made it clear and that helped me understand what you were doing. Thank you
I'm glad the video was of help, thank you

Sounds like classic dirty switch or switches or wire connectors....we see this all the time and very much so on bikes sitting outside
Work the switches back and forth
Thank You Bud, this video really helped me out. Good Job!
Glad it helped!
On my 04 raptor 660 I redone carb and now it will only run with choke on but soon as I hit gas it dies? Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Replace rectifier, then go from there
8:28 what does that dowel pin do? What's it's purpose? I'm missing mine
Dowels hold cases where they are supposed to be and sometimes are oil passages
@@geezermoto7820 yes the 3 dowels (2 with O-Ring) but I'm taking about that 1 that you mention on time 8:28

What oil did you put in there when done
You can use 10w40 mineral based or synthetic, just be sure it's rated for use with wet clutches
