Totally agree with you when you say that "they always have very confusing technical terms". Fortunately we can find many tutorials, like yours, to help untangle all these constantly appearing new features. Thank you so much for your sharings.
I’m taking your Beginner Blender class you did with Rick on Udemy. I’m learning and enjoying. You have a great teaching voice with a calm, confident demeanor. Very happy I purchased the course. Thank you.
This is so cool. I've toyed with the idea of making silly characters for a long time now, but I just don't think I have the mind for it. Looks like so much fun though. Thank you for posting!
That is a cute monster. We just had the Thailand Toy Expo here this weekend and I was walking around looking at thousands of designed characters and creatures, many of which were created using 3-D software and 3-D printed to make the figures, so this little guy fits in well with the menagerie I was just exposed to. Some of my friends are involved in that and I might consider looking into it for next year.
@@davearvelo It ended on Sunday. It was being held at Central World and filled the entire bottom floor and the promenade space in a massive tent enclosure. Then I found out afterward it extended to other floors as well, which I didn't even see.
@@WaterShowsProd Wow, that's awesome. I was on BTS by Central World the other day, wish I could've seen it! Cool to know there are awesome events like this around here
@@davearvelo Yes, there are often events happening around Bangkok, and especially around Siam. It's become a lot harder to promote events through Facebook though. I used to say if I was ever bored I would just go to Siam and there was bound to be something going on. The BACC next to The National Stadium BTS Station has continual intriguing exhibitions and events, and now River City, just up from The Shangri-La Hotel and The Central Post Office and where The Creative Design Centre is now located, has become a contemporary art gallery with performace space as well. The theatre scene collapse a few years ago when a bunch of small theatres closed, which is sad as it was tremendously active. It's starting to re-emerge with some of the artists setting up new venues in various areas, such as near Arri Station, and another has been running street show performances on Saturday afternoons at Benjasiri Park near Phrom Phong Station. Also, the art gallery space at MRT Phahol Yothin Station is a lot more fun than I expected from the promotional clips I saw. There's an international puppet festival next month in Phetchaburi province, and I was told there will be another puppet and robotics festival at The Science Museum in Pathum Thani. Both events were big hits last year.
Great video! I've been really pressed for time with trying to learn JavaScript. But I want to squeeze in some modeling when time permits. Hopefully your low poly character course could help me with this.
I love this term "straight forward" for me it won't be straight forward to even sculpt this :P there are always something off when I'm trying to sculpt. Anyway I like your monster it gives me a lot of inspiration. Thanks!

Hello, Grant Abbitt. I am a student from Korea who took your Blender Basics course on Udemy. It really helped me a lot. So, I want to listen to the next lecture, Blender Animation & Rigging: Bring Your Creations To LifeLearn To Rig & Animate Models & Characters In Blender, but there are no Korean subtitles. Are there any plans to support Korean subtitles? I really want to take your course.
This is an uncanny line between cheap fake phone game ads and modern Disney Pixar. It's not bad, yet you feel like they aren't being sincere with their work. Glad to find a full yet quick tutorial going through every step. Fun to learn something new to create in different ways.
A few months ago I was doing voices for a game and when I saw the character screens that the client provided I said, "This designer is a fan of Grant Abbitt, for sure!" The backgrounds and the character design had a very similar style to the tutorials, and the texture painting was very much in line with those videos as well. Unfortunately I've no idea what the game is called, some fantasy mediaeval adventure game. Everyone thought the design looked really good, by the way.
@@WaterShowsProd If they are. Then I'm jealous they had the courage to publish their work at that stage. Even if I mastered all those things with my own style, I'd still say I'm too amateur to try anything actually real.
Hi , Got my TV Man to Walk last night 😉Also got your Advanced Blender Artist Bundle im looking forward to !!! Pity no Discount Bundle with Character Creation and Dragon ... Thought id plant a seed 🙄 Cool Monster !!!

Fluffy! Interesting share about struggling to figure some of the technical parameters. Experiencing the same.
Fantastic work, thank you for sharring

Thanks for the tutorial, pretty helpful
This gives me lots of great idea's, thanks for the video

looks awesome! how would you animate a mouth like that especially for video games?
It would be hard work but probably a simple bone system I think
4:41 In what ways could texture painting in Blender feel less dated?
It's still screen based. So paint falls onto other 0arts of the model easily

Thank you Mr. Abbitt
liked this tutorial, would love a slower course on this of modeling :)
Amazing work, if we had the time we would turn it all into 3d for us
I have always enjoyed your Blender tutorials. Is there anyway we can get/buy the full lenght video? 🙏 Keep the awesome work.
I don't have it for nothing one but maybe it's something I need to consider making a course for
Nice :) i dont aee any retopology on thia videk though. Or it wasnt too ji res enough for retopo?
Did it with quad remesher
cute and simple to recreate 😊
How do you remesh to get rid of the overlapping objects you had when blocking in the general shape?
join them with ctrl j and then go into sculpt mode and remesh
@@grabbitt Thanks!
Can u make a detail video on hair so it get easy for us to understand
Sulley and Mike from Monsters, inc. combined into one.😄
I love it. Grant, do you go through texture and/or vertex painting in any of your courses?
yes i have a complete texture painting course
Thanks Grant!
I was just making a video about a monster
but a serial killer monster anyway you are great Grant
He needs a friend now, something not obvious 😄
Nice. But the eyes are perfectly white. I'd definitely add veins, texture, etc.
Oooh, this little critter is just begging to be rigged.
How do you join the different meshes without having the crease that you can't sculpt out?
ctrl j then remesh in sculpt mode

It wouldn't be too bad depending on how much movement is needed
