As a Tennessee native I do love Gatlinburg and visit please, but to get an authentic Tennessee experience travel outside of Gatlinburg. There are countless state parks, beautiful lakes like Watagua, and caves like the Lost Sea ( largest underground lake in America). Have fun visiting Tennessee!!
If you see this before July 2022 please, is there an authentic place to dig for gems? I see they have the places you can buy a bag of gems but I want to get my own. Thank you
In the last 40 years I have been to Gatlinburg at least 100 times it's the only place I can feel relaxed don't need to go to cades cove just rent a cabin and you will almost always see bears I'm getting ready to retire I'm moving to Tennessee it's so beautiful
Yes, been there many times , best time to visit is spring ( lot less crowded) and late fall, their christmas decorations go up in Nov. And it is really beautiful, lights everywhere !!!!!!! In Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge . Went there for Thanksgiving ,rented cabin for whole family , great time . Dollywood Park has lights everywhere during holidays .

One of my favorite things when I went to Tennessee was going to the Hatfield and Mccoy show. The show was awesome and the food was awesome they give you buckets full litteraly.
I been going to Gatlinburg before I could walk or talk. It’s amazing to see how far it has grown. Gatlinburg is home away from home for me. My parents own a time share with Tree Tops since they were married. At the time they said Tree Tops only had 2 buildings. Seems like every year they added something new. You can’t get everything done in 1 trip. These videos really do help narrow things down.
I use to live in Bristol VA and I visit gatlinburg almost every other weekend.This was beautiful place I have ever seen after ravensburg in Germany when I migrated to USA in 2000.Time flies.

Just got back from Gatlinburg and it is an AWEFUL place IMO. The traffic is some of the worst I have experienced and I live in South Florida. We were to stay there from the 23rd of December to the 31sr and found it so bad we left two days early never using our Dollywood tickets. I fail to understand the allure of this area as there are much much better travel destinations than Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge.
Went into all the gift shops in the area and thought I was getting a piece of Gatlinburg TN instead every item in the store had a little sticker on the bottom that said MADE IN CHINA.
I have been to anakeesta but I do not recommend eating there the food was disgusting and crazy expensive and the lines were crazy long I was 12 my family waiting in 90 degree sun for 2 hours only to get up there go find out they ran out of French fries and so I got mac and cheese the only option that sounded edible it wasn't edible I couldn't finish it, I am not a picky eater bug this was so bad! don't get me wrong though I loved everything else just trying to warn others about the food

Cosby Park which isn't far from Gatlinburg is beautiful.. I'm an east TN native also, and the lost sea is a must see... just so happens to ryhme.

You have no idea the terror of taking the ski lift up Anakeesta on their unbelievably dangerous rocking benches with barely anything holding you in.

It's been a very warm December this year. One of the warmest on record. Normally, we have snow in the mountains by this time, but none so far.
We also don't get a lot of snow in the Valleys anymore.
