I had an open myomectomy in 2016. Had a bunch removed including a 15 cm fibroid. I was 31. Got married in 2019 and took almost 2 years to conceive our first. I was tracking ovulation and everything but because of the myomectomy and the fibroids that had grown back in that time, I assumed that was the problem. I right in the middle of starting the process to remove them again (an 8cm this time) when I found out I was pregnant! Minus some first and early second trimester bleeding, I think it was a pretty typical pregnancy. My scar felt fine the whole time, I was finally able to relax and enjoy it by about halfway through:) I did need a c-section because of the surgery, but I knew that years before. Our sweet baby girl was born July 2021 at 38 weeks and she was a whopping 8lb 5oz ❤️❤️ After she was born, my fibroids all shrunk. The biggest 8cm grew to 12 during the pregnancy, but shrunk down to 4cm by about 3 months postpartum. Hormones are wild. And then to our absolute shock, I got pregnant again when she was 10 months old! Fibroid is growing again of course, but it’s been relatively uncomplicated🤞🏼 My little boy is set to join us next Thursday at 38 weeks! Oh and I did indeed get lots more ultrasounds than normal to keep an eye on everything! I consider myself very lucky and thankful that I was able to carry two babes. I honestly didn’t think it would happen.

I’m glad you made this video. I feel like there aren’t a lot of women that talk about their experience. I’m 27. I just had a open myomectomy November 12, 2020. I had a Cancer scare but I’m clear. No Cancer. I’m working on having a baby. I wish you the best of luck and looking forward to your updates.
My cousin had a myomectomy little over a year ago and her fiberoids were worst than mine. On her periods she couldn’t even leave her house basically and she’s now pregnant and she’s also in her 40s! She has all the regular pregnancy symptoms and the baby is even big and healthy. It depends on how the surgeon cut and all that but most importantly it depends on the woman’s body. Her story is a prime example of that
I had an abdominal myomectomy a little over 2 weeks ago. My fibroid measured 9.8 cm behind my uterus, and with a polyp inside my uterus as well. I'm 35, never been pregnant. Its really comforting to see so many encouraging and uplifting conversations concerning fibroids and fertility.
I am about to start the journey. I am 33.. my fibroid is 8 cm and causing me so many trouble on top of fertility .. will be having the surgery talk in 2 days with my OB. I am so scared of the whole thing.. I wish I can find more testimonies of woman having babies after myemectomies
Hi! I had an open myomectomy in May of 2020. My doctor told me the same thing to wait at least 4-6 months after surgery before trying to get pregnant. My husband and I started trying in October 2020 and for 2 months it wasn't happening, so I was starting to think one of us was infertile, but then it happened and I'm 19 weeks today. You're right there is not much information about this out there, not even from doctors..
Thank you for making this video. I underwent Myomactmy on 9-9-2021. Before Myomactmy my tubes were blocked. Went for dye test again after 3 cycles. Now they are open and my doc suggested me to try after 3 months of surgery. Hope for the best.
My wife had blocked fallopian tubes and got 8 fibroids removed on the 8-8-2021 and 3 months later she got pregnant and now 15weeks already and doing well. I literally became a consultant and advice people to do the needful and stop procrastinating or blaming other sources for their dilemma . Our EDD is 8-9-2022. We had an ultrasound yesterday and the baby is kicking well 🤗🤗🤗
I'm 28 and I had my open myomectomy with a long midline incision in January 2021. Still recovering. I do feel some muscle soreness right now around the incision. Have a doctor's appointment in april so i will ask her about the pregnancy concerns and will definitely share what she has to say. Good luck girl!
GIRL! I have the same frustrations there’s nooo info ANYWHERE!! I had an open myomectomy as well, February of 2020, they gave me the same recovery time (6 months) I tried getting pregnant naturally for 2-3 months and then gave into IVF because I’m impatient 😖 ..it may be important to note I’ve gone through IVF twice prior to myomectomy & this is my first child. That first post-myomectomy transfer failed so we’re currently trying for another IVF cycle. Hopefully I can give you more info once this cycle is successful! 🤞🏽🤞🏽
She doesn’t have good information. Just because someone has an open myomectomy does not mean they need to have a C section. There’s something called VBAC, vaginal birth after cesarean. She needs to contact more doctors and find one that’s knowledgeable on VBAC. Also, uterine rupture is very rare. That should not stop someone from trying for a vaginal birth after myomectomy.
I'm almost 8 weeks post op and plan to start trying in a year, to allow myself to finish school. Thank you for sharing this video and opening up the space for other women to share their stories. Many of us need this hope.
I had an open myomectomy on 12/1/20. My doctor told me to wait until April which would be 4 months before trying to conceive. I will be high risk and will get a c section. I had 7 total fibroids removed (3 were the size of 3 babies). I suffered pretty bad with blood lost a few months before surgery. I had to get blood and iron transfusions to get healthy enough for surgery. My experience makes me feel like 4 months isn’t enough, but I do trust my doctor. I pray that I can have a healthy baby soon and remain healthy myself.
Oh wow! Yeah 4 months seems soon especially thinking about the soreness I still felt in my stomach at that time. You'll know what's right for you when the time comes. Good luck with everything!
Hi I just had a myomectomy 7/28/21 and I was told to wait 6 months, the fibroid was outside my uterus (predunculate) I think 4 months seems too soon but pray about it sis and let God do the rest. We will have our babies soon
Hi Terri what size were your fibroids, and do you remember where your fubroids were located. I going through the same things as you. Best of luck. Also wondering how are you doing now. Best of luck
I am 5wks pregnant now with my first child. I had an open myomectomy in May 2020. At 6wks post op I was cleared to resume Ttc efforts. We consistently tried every month without fail until December 2021. I stopped all purposeful ttc efforts. I was mentally exhausted. I even stopped taking vitamins up until March 19, 2022, When I started taking pink stork fertility gummies because my sister bought them for me. I stopped taking them after 2wks (4/4/22) due to my period coming back on very heavy, painful and 16days too early😳🧐. I found out I was pregnant 5days ago. It was definitely a very happy surprise!
Very informative! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 I had several fibroids removed a week ago plus adeno of which my doc wanted my uterus removed. Prior to that in 2016 I had heterotopic pregnancy. Am 42. That part of high risk pregnancy is really giving me anxiety and have not yet even started trying. 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
My surgery was May 2019 and we are finally trying. Thought I was prego but got my period. These are questions I am wondering and thank you for posting!
I had my open myom 2.3 weeks ago... 15th march. Interesting to hear about anyone who got preg after that....how long did u wait. They told me 3 months.. I'm 38 years old.
Unfortunately I have not been pregnant post myomectomy so I can't answer any of those questions. I did do a round of ovulation induction/timed intercourse 3 months post surgery but it didn't work. I think timing really depends on the reconstruction that your doctor has to do. Do you follow the white dress project on Instagram? I'm sure there has to be someone on that page who may have some of the answers that you seek. I haven't seen a lot of pre myomectomy pregnancy success stories that actually have a second child. Honestly I imagine that friends who had emergency C sections might be able to answer a couple of questions? I have heard that tiny babies are more resilient than you think. My RE told me I would have to have a C section at 37 weeks. Hopefully this is our year!
I did abortion because of Fibroids..m afraid of doing myomectomy ...it takes how many months To recover after myomectomy.. now I m 36 year's . so I thought about menopause.....
I've come back to this video after my surgery. This is my second surgery this year and my doctor told me to wait a year to get pregnant. All you Dr told you is the same mine told me. I almost lost my uterus. It's almost a month after surgery and I'm still in so much pain, bloating and bleeding. I'm in my lowest I just want to pass this phase.
I'm so sorry that you're still struggling through recovery. Be sure to take good care of yourself now so that when the time comes your body is healthy and ready. I hope you feel much better soon. It's a rough journey, but it'll be worth it. Have a blessed day!
