Easy VEGAN Sausages

- My dad loves vegan sausages! If you were to send him to the store to pick up a few groceries, he will inevitably come home with an assortment of vegan sausages. So over the years we have pretty much tried “the works”, however, his most favorite sausages are the ones we make ourselves. Today I am going to show you how to make a very easy sausage. As you get comfortable with the process, you can be very creative in the use of different flavor combinations. You can add a little more crushed red pepper for a hotter variety, or some maple for a sweeter pallet, etc. The possibilities are endless. These can definitely be made oil free or nut free should you prefer. They are a wonderful addition to a savory breakfast, a great topping for a pizza, or some extra texture for a pasta dish. I just made this tonight - I usually only make my own black bean sausage patties, but I love the field roast breakfast sausages and wanted to make my own. This was amazing! The walnuts are what really made it work I think. I used maple syrup instead of malasses and different spices, but the base is phenomenal. It's delicious~

Hi Ani! I made your sausages and they turned out great! I added a few ingredients: 1 tsp marmite, 1 Tbsp mushroom seasoning, 1/2 tsp MSG for umami; 1 Tbsp smoky chipotle sauce for flavor and heat; 1/2 tsp beet root powder for color; 1/2 tsp vegan broth base powder for a more complex flavor profile. I’ve had the sausages with bread as a hot dog and sliced up one to put into a breakfast burrito. Ummm thanks!

Very good recipe. For extra flavour I used sage from garden and also I used sage and onion stuffing mix which helped them stay together

Made these minus the oil, used soy sauce since i didn't have Braggs. Rolled in parchment paper instead of plastic wrap. They are fantastic! I see why your dad likes them so much. Will make a double batch next time. Thank you for this wonderful recipe.

Looks great. Will try this for certain. Cannot eat walnuts or pecans. Will find alternative or omit. Have made sausages before (links and patties), and used sushi mat to roll & bamboo steamer to cook. Works great and love to 'double duty' my kitchen ware. Thinking your recipe might be great stuffing for dumplings. Also variation by adding Jamaican 5 spice. Thanks for everything you do. Am sharing your channel with everyone I know.

The only things I have added are a little salt and pepper because here in Italy, the sausages are a little more savory and you can taste the pepper a lot. I made these sausages. They are delicious! Thank you. I want to add, I like them better not fried, just out of the steam tray. I haven’t tried them in a recipe, but I have pan fried them and they are still delicious, however I prefer them just steamed. Again, thanks!

I made these tonight for dinner. Wow! They were delicious. The only change I made was I wrapped in parchment paper then in foil, cooked in my instant pot for 25 minutes. I put the rack in bottom, then placed three ramen bowls upside down. Placed a steamer basket on top of ramen bowls and let the pot do its magic. Easy peasy, what a delicious meal in no time. Thanks for sharing your culinary skills with us.

Made this substituting soy sauce for liquid aminos and maple syrup for molasses... it tasted AMAZING. I haven't cooked with seitan before so I was nervous, I was blown away by the texture of these. Who needs meat when you have these?? Thanks for the upload!

Another great alternative to wrapping the sausages in plastic wrap is parchment paper. It will make for a smoother sided sausage than foil, but won't give the nice ends you get with plastic wrap.

To do veggie burgers, this is my recipe:
Preheat oven to 220 degrees/gas mark 7.
Put them in the oven straight away.
Then, leave them to cook for 25 minutes ; this = PERFECTION!

Hi Michelle! The walnuts are in the recipe to give texture to the sausages! You can leave the walnuts out completely and they will still be good.

Would bob's red mill 1 to 1 flour work in place of the flour? Only subbing the flour because it's just what I have on hand. Aware that it wouldn't be gluten free. Great video, can't wait to make these!
Great question! It would work in place of the regular flour, but not in place of the Gluten Vital Wheat flour.
