I worked at a factory job. There was a lot of Glossop, backstabbing, etc… As one who experienced bullying growing up I saw this as another form of bullying and harassment. Worse yet, the management as I saw, encouraged this in order to avoid accountability and responsibility as to their part. When passionate, compassionate, empathetic people see this they are the ones who tend to be the easy targets for harassment in the workplace. I myself almost suffered a severe mental breakdown. I decided in the end that working in such a toxic environment was not for me!! I see the ideology of the work place becoming more and more toxic and difficult for people such as myself because we are agreeable, honest, and capable workers. Ego steps in the way! I also believe that the increase of depression among people who are in this category is increasing exponentially!

I don't argue or try to talk sense into them, just let them burn it off. Unless they get violent...then the fact that you're relaxed means you can actually move faster! I don't mean hit them, unless you have to, or are ''grappled'', then you fight like anyone else has to. But you can usually diffuse the situation by ignoring the abuse, while paying attention still to the person. Like a kind of passive mirror I guess. @@tessangelabeck8958he interrupted Robert Green, who was referencing the superficiality and unscrupulousness of people in LA/Hollywood as part of a greater point, to say “and they’re obsessed with FAME! people in Hollywood also have an obsession with fame” no shit, buddy. Thanks for killing the rest of Greene’s greater point to interject the unrelated but widely known fact that yes, in fact, those Hollywood types want fame.
Green gives very precise, relevant, and easily understood (yet usually not widely known) anecdotes and stories for his setups and to make his point more interesting and easy to picture across multiple setups/situations. He presents his information like a scientist would, with appropriate language to be clear about the amount of evidence and correlation vs causation for things he’s hypothesised. Meanwhile, Peterson is all conjecture and he states his hypothesis or outright personally held opinion/belief as if it were proven fact.
One of these guys knows what he’s talking about and is a reliable source for information bc he tells you exactly what he’s gleaning it from. The other guy is so drunk on his own pseudo intellectualism and self importance that he feels the need to interject so everyone can hear him contribute shit like “Hollywood people want fame”
I listen to smart people sharing ideas all the time and they do it in a way that is relevant and measured and doesn’t seem like watching a dog with a bone like Peterson does. His agenda is always too personal, too prone to his own bias. He finds his proof to fit his belief, not the other way around. The smartest stuff he says is when he repeats someone else’s points.
I’ve wanted so badly to like him since the near decade ago I heard him summarizing his book on Maher I think? It’s still written in my reminders “get 12 rules for life” and I did eventually get it, btw, and I genuinely thought it was a joke until I realized it wasn’t. What I can’t abide is how emotionally affected he gets when met with any pushback, how rude and susceptible to bias he is, how desperate he is to find a winner and a loser in every situation, and how completely belligerent he is when buying into and defending his own subjective “observations”
He cherry picks and brings his ego to every subject as if it were an unruly child screaming during a dinner party.
I will acknowledge my bias in that Greene is my favorite author and I’ve read all of his stuff and really wanted to hear more from him in this. But JP would probably annoy me just the same if he were interviewing somebody lame like Katy Perry or Ted Cruz or whatever. He’s cosplaying intellectualism and the worst part is he’s convinced _himself_ that he’s a genius

I wonder if his style in conversation could be accepted as being intended only to give agreement or endorsement to Greene. I’ve never listened to what Greene promotes but just believe you that his expertise is important to hear. Do you have a feel for the timeline on this in relation to when Peterson completed his hospitalization for use of a drug that potentially could help him not go nuts in panic about the extreme illnesses that have grabbed his daughter and his wife? I’ve been a bit distracted by a couple health setbacks myself and have done limited reading online but I was very concerned for Jordan. I admire the many times I’ve seen him apologize and admit to having a temper that flashes. I’m sure he knows very well that he often can’t quite keep up with the speed of his thoughts. He also has described experiencing extreme depression. He seems compelled to think about everything, and often I find his opinions quite valuable, but he might interrupt also partly of concern that he’s going to miss making a point that he imagines is fair to inject into the conversation. I have a hard time keeping up with fast exchanges and am horrible at following the ball in spectator sports. I do much better at comprehension when I can read a story. Anyway, I think I have admitted to enough imperfections in communication. Your analysis is very appreciated.

If you put a few agreeables (doves) into a society full of disagreeables (hawks), the agreeables have an advantage cooperating together over the other members as whole. While the hawks cannot cooperate with each other because of infighting. And like he says if society is mostly doves, if you put in a few hawks, the hawks clean house. Eventually in either scenario an equilibrium is reached, which is a society that consists of some agreeable members and some disagreeable ones.

Those who are agreable easily recognize those who are not... that's why they are the first victims of psychopaths.
If most people were agreable, they would naturally isolate those who are not. But, in reality, most people are somewhere between the two extremes and, most of the time, people choose, for convenience and to avoid having problems, to side with the psychopath, leaving those on the opposite side of the spectrum alone.
In today's society, sadly, nice people are isolated because they are considered weak and harmless and psychopaths are supported because they are stronger, dangerous and apparently charismatic.
If the world were full of kind, agreable, empathetic, nice people, it would definitely be a better place!
