haha far out you had a pot filled with crabs. tried crab trapping b4 and omg it was hard! hardly got any crabs let alone 50! those crabs r relentless especially that one that attacked the camera lol
cheers bro, yeah they are really aggressive little buggers, aye. Especially once they get into a feeding frenzy. Can give you a pretty painful pinch. Not as powerful as the rock crabs but still quite dangerous little fellas 😆 I bet a filleting glove could by quite handy for picking them up without getting pinched.
haha, yeah for paddle crabs you need some open shallow and tidal surf beaches. I have never seen any paddle crabs around Auckland, but I have never really looked for them there either :)
cheers bro. If you're based in Thames then your best option is probably Waihi beach. Any shallow sandy tidal beach will have lots of paddle crabs in summer. I was catching them South of Whangarei.
@@Fishingreminder i was there a day before the fatal shark attack happened. I was with my family on a vacation, and spoke to a local. They said the spot is in bowentown.
@@pamfiloregis6414 You should be able to get them along the whole beach. They are mainly active when it's a calm, cloudy day. Best on an incoming tide in the evenings.
Some good size paddle crabs! Good work team.
cheers mate, was heaps of fun catching em
@@Fishingreminder was bit of a laugh tho lol
yeah man it's actually quite funny watching them underwater when they're trying to attack. Would be a different story if they were triple the size LOL
I didn't expect so many LOL
haha, yeah neither did I :)

Cool good job
Looks like a great feed mate.
Cheers mate, they were super delicious 😋
Nice. Mean as. I don't think crabs could be caught in Auckland. At least an hour or two hours drive for crabbing. Lol.

@@Fishingreminder true that. Maybe piha or Orewa is closest from Auckland. Churr
Is there a time of year that is better for catching paddle crabs?
Yeah, early summer till autumn seems best. Didn't have much luck with them in the colder months.
Nice one. I love paddle crabs. Where is your spot please. Coz mine is an hour away from thames coromandel

Any chance of getting the name of the beach?
Hey Kelly. I'll give you a tip. It's about 2 hours drive from Auckland 😀 But any long shallow sandy beach will produce paddle crabs in summer.
