- Video directed by John Morrison. Steve Kilbey is an Aussie Rock Icon. As well as being the singer and founding member of The Church, Steve has also had a prolific solo career. In this series, Steve talks about a range of issues. Some of you wont like what he has to say and some of you will applaud him. Steve talks with passion and honesty and can often leave you re assessing the way you think about things.
His voice is as unique as his personality. A brilliant, fascinating human being. When you hear his voice there is no mistaking who it is. Hope he continues to give us music for years to come. I do miss the Kilbey, Piper years.
Steve is as compelling in conversation as his music
Steve is completely real and so 'no bullshit',, I love his passion,,
Love the Marilyn Monroe art work in the background.
Wonderful interview!
One in a million Kilbey.
Trance ending
LOVE STEVE & THE CHURCH BAND!!!! THE BEST BAND ~
SO
UNDER RATED !
SUCH NICE PEOPLE. AND I LOVE THEIR MUSIC. ~
The Church-Arguably thr greatest Aussie band ever, another that could lay claim to that mantle is The Go-Betweens also The Birthday Party,The Triffids,Crime and The City Solution and The Saints could also lay claim to that mantle as well, love the commentaries Mr.Kilbey and you have a huge fan from Denver,Colorado USA Cheers Mate!!!
I'd say my 2nd favorite band from Australia is The Dirty Three. Brilliant stuff.
Hail Steve!!!
The Church are amazing! Sonic in everything they do!
How could anyone ever have the answer for a 'best song'. I too could never answer this at all. Although there are many, many 'personal faves'. The ones that stick with you for years and years. The ones that even if you haven't heard them in ages. The moment you do. You kinder think of them as an old friend. They're the ones that stick with you forever. Sorry to ramble, just my take on being asked "what's your favourite song?"
Is he singing? Is he talking? Doesn´t matter - that voice is unique!
PSST Steve, Straight Up by BADFINGER is the ultimate lp
The REELS and The Triffids slipped Steve's mind.
Actually, The Church probably are the best band in Australia. Second was the Oils in their day. The Clash were the best ever, but that's another story.
moo makes a good point
Way to go
I don't share Kilbey's love for UL, but I do confess for a largely uninhabited country, Oz has churned out some great bands, the Church in their 80s prime a great example. Not slagging ULovers, music is highly subjective. Ac/dc the Aussie band ever imho.
Judging from your rambling, I would have thought that sweet leaf was one of your favorites....
He's all sorts of stoned
The Church are my fave band. I have all released and everything the other guys have done. I was however slightly disappointed to hear Steve slag off The Stone Roses when I thought he was one person to appreciate other peoples music.
+mikey holts He appreciates lots of other peoples music. He didn't slag off the Stone Roses by the way. Not sure how you took that from what he said. Bottom line, we all like what we like.
Penny Lane more conventional but just as perfectly formed...
how stoned are you Steve> ....lol
Oh§§ something a poor woman can never understand...
Other than the "lefty", he's alright.
Sane Party Toons Why don't you like the fact that he's a lefty? Most people are glad, myself included!
@@1LaOriental I don't care...but it would have been totally cool to me if he were neither...
Pop Music's answer to Ricky Gervaise
Ha! Very true!
I love Steve's music, but his taste in music is questionable. The Stone Roses are an amazing band, and The Underground Lovers are horrible, in my opinion.
The Roses really were definitely not great. Couple of good hits, but that's it.
@Original Prankster They just didn't, though. I'm sure you like them very much, and that's great... but they didn't write very many good tunes. Fool's Gold is a great track, but other than that... nah, mate. No offence.
@Original Prankster I didn't compare them.
I'm not particularly concerned with what critics have to say.
Can you list 30 great songs written by The Stone Roses?
@Original Prankster That's cool. Take it easy man, I wish you all the best. Cheers.
The Stone Roses are extremely overated and like 2 records.
