There are many other options that you can set besides the basic 2 I used in this video. Make sure you look through the entire list carefully. Another module with settings you might be interested in is the "IHK" which is the air conditioning module.

Very helpful tutorial! With this I was able to repair my LCM module coding after one of those guys "who can do it cheaper" messed it the F up and didn't make a backup.
Thanks 50s Kid! - I just used this video to fix an error with my E39 Touring that I just converted to manual over here in New Zealand. It was throwing a 'brake fluid level' error caused by the brake fluid reservoir from an earlier model donor car which had inverted sensor values. BMW changed this about a moth before my car was built. I was able to use NCS to change the 'Inverted brake fluid level sensor' from 'Not active' to ''Active', and now she's good-to-go! My country has a very strict six-monthly vehicle fitness check, and a brake error warning would be an immediate fail. Your tutorial has each step, where others skip vital steps (assuming we must somehow know). You are an absolute legend! Kudos and great respect from a big fan Down Under!

THANK YOU. Watched many videos on this and just couldn't get anything to register. Used this, other than "revtor" profile not existing, worked a treat. My boot (trunk) kept opening with a flick of the key button, changed it to a long press and visual alarm on/off - just what I wanted.

Great video. Excellent learning tool to study on. If you have code two or more modules, do you export to .MAN, write, and then go back to the next module? Or can you code GM5, LSZ, etc. in one fell swoop?

awesome! but... is what exactly defines if it reads the xxxx.c01 or c02, etc? i noticed that in the LSZ file for mine reads one of the upper selections, but the ones further down have the settings "unlocked" and available for selection/modification. is there a way to change the version of the module from one xxxx.c0x to another?

Hi Kid, I have a 2001 bmw 325i stuck in 2nd or 3rd because of breaking hard in a down pour of rain, question will this program reprogram the trans back to factory settings so it will shift proper? Trans and valve rebuilt about one year ago. I have all the programs you suggested and the lead for lap top to obd2 scan port. Thank in advance.
Hello, I want to say thank you for these great videos. Also, I wanted to ask a question. When I go to choose the VIN in NCS expert I get an error and it is unable to locate the vin number saying it is faulty. Is this something you could help with?
Hey 50's kid, thanks for the great instructions! Greetings from Australia. These worked great on my GM5 module (2000 E46 323CI). I recently had to upgrade my steering wheel (Triangular airbag) with a later model because of Takata airbag issue. I'm facing an issue when coding the module for dual stage airbag. I then realised it does not accept any changes to existing settings (even things like deactivating an airbag). I followed same procedures as GM5 and it always fail with "WRITE ERROR". However if I try to write with no changes it writes successfully. Do you have any idea what's going on? Please help.
I’m only showing 2 profiles. “Code control unit...” and expert mode. How do you have more and where can I get the one your using here??
50’sKid when you use ncs expert is the vin # your real number? When i use it only the first 2 number and last 7 of 8 numbers are actually my real vin numbers..
You don't have to keep choosing until you find the one that works. It is already listed in NCS Expert which GM 5 file is used.

Just picked up the XS Power PSC60 Performance IntelliSupply. Nice PS, it provides a constant 14.4 volts, and I no longer get the voltage error when attempting to run ISTA/P on 2015 BMW.

I sent my GM5 out for repair and it got lost in the mail. I bought a used one on ebay hoping to code it. my SSS progman has a glitch and doesn't show above 13v so I can't code. I can use the NCS tools to read my Gm5 and edit it, however my locks and windows still won't work ... Any idea if there is a standard file i can install?
Would the default settings need to be altered for convertible models or does it already know
actually, if U´re picking module in NCS Dummy, u can see correct name of module in NCS expert under the "JOBNAME" at first place of list. like GM5.C01 etc.

is it possible to install a gm5 module from a donor car and reprogram it using this?
SOS.....After you disconnected transmission control module did your cruise stop working and if it did how did you restore it?

Look for bmw inpa diagnostic cable. It must have a little switch on the connector that plugs in to obd2 in your car. So you can switch between engine and all other module diagnostics
Hey 50sKid. I would very much appreciate it if you answer my question. I plan on installing powered folding mirrors on my E46 2005 and want to know if the option is available in the files to enable the car to automatically fold the mirrors in when locked.

Good video! I have PA Soft 1.4 and I want to be able to turn on my pathway/walk away lights on my 323i. Can’t exactly figure out how to do that
The pa soft doesn't give you every option available, only the most popular ones, which is the one problem with it.
I'm sure there is probably a way to do it using the INPA suite, but I don't know why people do this. The engine regularly oscillates within a temp range, by design. That's what the heating element in the thermostat housing is all about. You're just going to freak yourself out by seeing the needle sweeping back and forth like that.

Would you be able to do a video on coding a used EWS module to synchronise with an engine’s DME controller?
My friend’s EWS module has failed. He has a used EWS module from a wreckers, but he does not have the DME that the EWS is “paired” with.

+OilBaron100 you can figure out how to do that by watching my other coding videos. Watch my dsc replacement video as well I install a used dsc and code it in that vid. It would be the same procedure. IF it is possible, that is. Sometimes you cannot code a used module into a new car and it has to be a brand new one. I dont know if its possible.

Your DSC replacement video was very useful; I followed the instructions when I replaced a DSC module in one of my BMW’s.
I will try it with the EWS. I just thought that there might be other steps required to synchronise the EWS to the DME.

instead of $90 for a wireless module ,and can i use win 7 on 8 do i need to use XP?
But it doesn't allow access to all modules like NCS Expert does. For instance in Scanner 1.4, you can't code certain modules such as SRS.
Surely what everyone needs most is an explanation of the modules and what they contain...!!?
hmm has anyone else had any issues in coding? ive followed this step by step,write the man file, and try it but it doesnt seem to write the module....
it goes back to default, do it again and the settings are back to previous

Yeah INPA is the factory software... ie. the factory in germany where german speakers work. It wasn't meant for the US retail market.

I just removed the TCU unit from my e46. I am now getting tcu errors when attempting to change settings in sss/progman and DIS. How do I code out this module?

PLEASE READ!! Don't lock your doors while driving an E46!! Especially not automatically! Why would you want to lock them anyways? So someone doesn't break into your car while your driving or something? How often does that happen?
The E46 has a major flaw with the door locks. The are controlled electronically so if the door is locked when you lose power you won't be able to open it... not from the outside AND not from the INSIDE. If you get into a wreck where your battery disconnects you might have just trapped yourself in the car. Potentially this could be the end of you if your car ends up in a dangerous situation... like being trapped in the car in the middle of the highway or in a blind spot right after a turn. Even worse if your car catches on fire or get submerged under water. I know this because it happened to me and the only functioning door in me 330ci was the trunk. Luckily my back seats fold down easily.
P.S. There's quite a few BMW models that also have this issue. So please be aware if you do decide to do this anyways. Probably should care one of those glass breaker pens,
Thanks for the warning. The "lock" in this case is still in the mode where you can unlock it by pulling on the handle twice. It's only when you lock it with the keyfob that it goes into the mode you're describing.

i got the software and NCS expert and dummy down but i am having an issue trying to code my windows to close with the key fob ,i have an 01 325ci ,i enabled the comfort close with the key remote option and now both of my windows and sunroof will close with the key,however mt rear vents will not close with the remote, but they will close if i put the key in the door and hold it in the lock position comfort closing with key/remote is enabled and i enabled one touch close for rear windows too
which also is not working but i think that may be because you need to mod the rear switches in the coup
but can you think of any other option i may have missed that would make the rear vents not close with the remote?
also i wonder if enabling one touch rear close only works for the sedan and if there is another option for the coup?
also i noticed that in NCS dummy that if i scroll about half way or 3/4 way down the list that the rest of the options are all highlighted in pink, any idea if that means anything?
also in my NCS dummy there are 2 trace files that work for my car both the GM5.c05 and the GM5.co6

Visit other countries and see how you get car jacked regularly with open doors. Bmw's in South Africa all lock automatically from factory as a safety feature
