Try holding your knitting closer to the tip of your needle on your left hand. It might be ok for a bigger type blanket but it's not a habit you want to get into. Your stitches will be taller than they're supposed to be and will effect your guage. This is extremely important for garment work but it's a good habit to practice all the time. Plus you won't need to push your needle with your pointer finger. There are tutorials on RUclips but now I can't remember who's channel.

Wow. You are SO right. I bought the Amazon pack, thinking that since there were 3 different types and I didn't know when I would be back at the Dollar Store, it would be better. NOPE!!!! I finally went to Dollar Tree today and found the silicone ones. They are SO much better! The only ones from the Amazon pack that I could use were the "leather coin" type. Everything else made me want to avoid using my fingers for anything. Thank you so much for your video. It was super helpful.

I’m a longtime knitter and always finger-push 😢. I hurt my index finger so badly after knitting a large throw blanket, to the extent that I damaged the nail.
I was totally unaware of finger protectors. I just ordered the Clover silicone and Dritz soft cushion protectors from Amazon. Thanx so much for your video!

Thank you so much for the review... Just shared your video on my small fb knitting group. I hope you don't mind.

I use very sharp needles chiaogoo and Hiya Hiya. I have been using the silicone thimbles for a few years now and bought more on Amazon in a 12 pack 3 sizes. I knit continental and tend to push my points.

I had terrible pain from pushing, until I switched to Addi rocket square needles. The yarn slides so well that I can push with hardly any pressure.

I have the same problem but instead of callousing it just hurts and now I have a numb spot. I've also seen some sticker kind originally for cross stitch that I want to try.

Those Amazon ones look very awkward. The leather one is just ... no. I’d go for the silicone one too, though I wonder how long it would last.
