me: finding this video yay! I can finally crochet without holding it too tight! also me after crocheting the first line: oh wait, you have to have good tension in order to make this 👁👄👁
Can't get tension right? I know, let's do double-crotchet* in a tiny circle with a what the bloody hell now stitch slip thingie eh wot? Mine wasn't very good. One side was there inches higher than the other, it looked like a trumpet. And fell off my finger 😠 HOWEVER....can I have a drum roll please? Or vague attention at least. I'm needy. I discovered the perfect tension-thingy; those very stretchy ponytail bands. Not the thin ones, the ones that used to made of towelling but dunno what now (I'll find a link if anyone wants one) Controls the tension perfectly and is fully adjustable for different size wool. I just have to persuade the cat to give it back... *renamed cos it makes me crotchetty!
lolll my first regulator was pretty loose too. but then i used it to make a second one, and ive made like 10 total now and always use one of the ones i already made to make the next lol. it helped me!
I would really like to know more about where to get these ponytail bands and how you use them! My tension is so bad I can’t even manage a single chain! And it’s so frustrating because knitting doesn’t give me anywhere near this much trouble. Even finger loop braiding was easier than trying to crochet!
@Ciriun Here ya go. I'm fairly sure it's these, tho you can get different sizes. I'm afraid I bought mine so long ago I can't remember if they were mixed sizes, but I've used all the sizes I have and they all work, I just wrap the larger ones round my finger one more time. I can crochet now and no longer need them (finally made the bloody regulator too, but not in the round) but altho I have tried every type of ring, regulator etc, I still use them for finer yarns when my hand gets tired cos they're the most comfortable. If you have an old pair of leggings lying around I'd guess you could make a similar small loop with an offcut - anything stretchy and soft with no "grab" should work. One tip I do have for learning is use a thicker yarn - I'd never have mastered it with anything below worsted/aran weight, especially as the first couple of rows are always the hardest. At least if the tension is controlled it's another thing to not have to worry about. @Ciriun Oops, forgot to say how to use... You just wrap it round your finger. They're small rings made of soft, stretchy fabric so you just stick it on your index finger and double up, exactly as you would when using elastic bands to keep something together. Run the yarn through it just as you would with any other ring and you're done. Because even the smallest one will loop round your finger at least twice, you can then either run the yarn underneath both loops or just one. It sounds horribly complicated but it's exactly the same as wrapping an elastic band round your finger, only softer and far more comfortable.
It took me over an hour to finish this thing! That's how BEGINNER I am! Thanks for this because I was definitely gonna quit trying to crochet because my right hand is ignorant and just couldn't get the tension right!
At least you could make it. I still can't make it. Everything in me wants to learn to Crochet 🧶. I won't give up. I've always heard practice makes perfect that's what I'm depending on. Thank you
Super beginner crocheter here- I have struggled to make this 3 times, on the 3rd time I finally made it!!! So happy. Now going to use my new tension regulator to make a new tension regulator that will be a little bit more uniform!! Thank you so much!
This is a total game changer for me! I love crocheting but have issues with my baby fingers and end up with what I refer to as ‘pinky fatigue’ and my pinky’s feel like they are going to lock up and I lose total strength and can’t control my tension at all. This has allowed me to have total control, tighten up my stitches and crochet for hours without any issue! Thank you so very, very much!
This is fantastic! I have Arthritis and just made one of these to try, it helps immensely! Also, I'm attempting to teach a group of 1st graders how to crochet and I think if I make one of these for each of them, it may make learning a bit easier, as they're tiny fingers will have less to juggle. Thank you!
Oh it DEFINITELY worked!!!! Mine wasn't as "put together" because i couldn't get the tension right 😂😂 but when i tell you this is a TOTAL game changer for me!!! You say that you don't want people to rely on this forever but I probably will. I'm just being honest. I was gonna just give up and go buy me some knitting needles and call it a day. It works AMAZING and no lie, it made me so happy because i was feeling so defeated. When I say that my right hand is ignorant, I really mean it! I can do NOTHING with my right so i don't think i would've been able to successfully learn to crochet without this!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!💞💞💞
Oh boy, this is pure genius! I suffer from hand pain and it can really cause my tension to suffer, especially when the weather is damp and/or cold. This will make crocheting a lot more fun for me again! Thank you SO much!
I started to crochet and because I knit a lot I thought it would make it easier for me to crochet, but I realized quickly that I cannot hold my yarn with my left hand to crochet.. I was desperate and about to just stop trying when I found the tension regulator video... it changed everything!!! I don’t think I will ever be able to crochet without one, but it’s ok I love what I can do with it!!! Thank you so much!!!
I count myself lucky because I don’t need a tension regulator BUT I’m teaching my cousin to crochet and I think this is EXACTLY what she needs. THANK YOU!!! ❤️
Using the tension regulator combined with using a straight-necked hook at first like Susan Bates', versus Boye, was indeed a game-changer and really got me from limping to going. I think I might be weening off of the regulator now for granny squares, but it remains to be seen if I might need it for extra-consistent, small gauge loom-knit-looking stitches for Amigurumi and such.
Yes I completely understand what you mean and that’s exactly how I think it should be used. I think the tension regulator is more of a crutch until you really get the hang of it and it sounds like you’re getting there which is great!
This is freaking genius! Did you invent this? Wow! Hoping it will help with the arthritis I’m developing in that index finger (caused by so much crocheting, no doubt). Thank you!!!
I did hear that it helps with arthritis so I hope it does help you too! No, I didn’t invent it. I’m not sure who did but I totally agree that this is a genius tool and I knew more people needed to hear about it!
It's helped me, been learning for over a year, made a granny square blanket, washed it and one of the squares fell apart, I tossed it out but I'm still proud of it🤓 I've come a long way
Why throw it away? It was only one square. I'm not mocking you. I'm trying to help. Was it a weave? As that what happened to one of my projects. I made a coaster for my mum. She washed it and said it came apart as I didn't weave it properly so she took the rest of it apart. So I go up a bit further and either put a tiny bit of clear PVA on it or candle wax.. But PVA works better, only a fab though on the ends.
This is a game changer for me! I have been crocheting for a little over year and tension is still a struggle for me. Using a yarn bowl helps, but this little regulator is amazing! I am new to your channel and I was just checking out what you have. I am so glad I came across this. Thank you, Liz B
This was an absolute game changer for me! It works better than the tensioners you can buy! I’ve tried pretty much every style and tactic and this is the BEST! It was a little difficult to make since I needed one to make one, 😂, but even with my ugly, misshapen first try, I was able to finally crochet! (And then I went back and made another that was prettier!) I also have the beginnings of arthritis and stiffness in my hands so I wouldn’t be able to comfortably crochet otherwise.
Wonderful! My small swatch worked up like a charm using this regulator, and I didn't miss not having the yarn wrapped around my little finger! I just need to figure out how to change yarn colours while using it now 😊
I've got Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder and my finger joints have been getting steadily worse over the last few years. I've been crocheting for years but it's been getting harder & more painful for me. Someone just recommended this video to me and it's something I didn't even know I needed but I'm one of those people it'll be a game changer for. Thank you!
I really appreciate this video! I I have been crocheting for about 6 months, but not everyday. I made a blanket and a jelly fish, which turned out okay, they could definitely be better. My only problem is tension! I use your tip on wrapping the yarn around your pinky finger and over your ring finger but I still can’t get my tension right! So I’m really hoping this works! Problem is, I think it’s just all me and not the way I’m holding the yarn, because in my crazy head, I’ll think it’s to tight, then pull out more yarn, or I’ll think it’s to lose and pull it to tighten it! I tell myself to just let it go, but in my head it’s never good enough! Ugh! I’m gonna give this a try! Thank you so much!
Thank you SO much for posting this! Tension rings never work for me and my hand starts to cramp holding it for too long but with this I can go for HOURS and my tension is perfect. I’m working on a blanket to show my crochet growth/progress and it’s notice how this has helped.
Honestly, this just took me about 15 minutes to master, thank you so much ❤ arthritis and my stubborn need to crochet left my little finger twice its size!! This is a game changer! 🎉
I deal with tension and pain in my index finger. This works so well to alleviate that, I can’t believe it! I adjusted the size for my scrawny digits and absolutely love it. Thanks for the video.
Best ever explanation! Comparing info on half double crochet in different crochet books, I got mad. Regarding double crochet, I found out that it is possible to avoid horrible holes and it was a kind of stich revolution for me. 🎉😊😊 many thanks to you!
It is tricky, especially for a beginner, I know. I've thought about selling them, but just wasn't sure how that would go. But I'm so glad you were able to get it figured out!
I definitely believe this will relieve the pinky pain I have. I hold my yarn tension with my pinky...was never able to use my pointer finger. But my pinky gets very sore! I am sure this will bring a lot of relief! I have always had a good tension control but the hand pain was my only issue! Thank you so much!
I made one. Im a bit ocd and worry about details to the extreme sometimes so much that it's hard for me to complete projects without taking forever and a day. This is going to help me a lot. I tried it out, and my stitches are more uniform, and stitching is going to go faster once I get used to using this. This is a great idea. Thank You! 😊 ❤️🙏
I didn’t crochet for years because of arthritis and not being able to hold wool down. This works beautifully and I’ve been working on several projects. Thank you ❤
I just made one this morning and for the first time since my arm problems started my hook hand need a break before my tension hand even felt tired. As a bonus, my tension looks very even
this was brilliant stops me from having to stop to re-position my yan and hand correctly every 5 minutes. plus its a great place to store crochet hooks and stitch makers so i can stop loosing them :)
Thank you so much Sigoni , I've been having so much trouble trying to learn crochet myself. Holding the yarn was proving so difficult for the tension. I'd almost given up trying until I watched your video showing how to make & use the tension regulater. I'm going to make one & can't wait to use it.... ❤ Thanks again, 🍪pocket.
That’s so great! Don’t give up. You can do it. Tension is such a giant pain. I promise you’re not the only one who struggles with it. The more you crochet the better you’ll get! But the tension regulator should help. If not, please let me know and I’ll help as best as I can
Thank you for this! I really struggle with my tension because my left pinky finger doesn't completely straighten on its own and I have issues other than not liking the yarn wrapped around my pointer finger. This helps so much ❤️
This is such a great tutorial! Unfortunately, as I am rather young (at least, still living under my parents' roof) I have access to pretty limited supplies since my parents do not want to buy me any extra yarn or hooks until I prove I'll stick with it. As it is, I only have a couple balls of yarn and two hooks, 6 and 6.5 mm from my grandmother. Is this still possible to make even though I have larger hooks? What adjustments do I need to make?
Thank you very much. This is genius and so helpful! When i was making this, I was struggling with my tension 😅 It would either be too tight or too loose, l usually crochet too tight. So I got frustrated but I managed it finish it with my pink yarn and it does its job perfectly even if it doesn't look like the one in the video (it has a bit of flared bottom because I made my tension too loose) Hopefully this is help me improve, it already feels so much better to crochet with this 😋 I will be making another one with this regulator and seeing if it turns out better. Good luck with your crocheting, everyone!

Aaa this helped me so much, my index finger started to hurt bc i cant get the position for it (it usually hurts when i put them in weird positions) and with this it stopped hurting, thank you so much!
Thank you so much for this video! I have a dumb question for you 😊 How can I use the tension regulator when I have a project that is already started? Thank you!
Not a dumb question 😉 But you will have to wait until you are either changing yarn color, or you can cut your yarn at the end of a row and reattach your yarn with the tension regulator. Hopefully that makes sense!
This is very helpful. I have trouble holding yarn because of bad arthritis. You show how to use crochet hook at the start of a project but how do we insert crochet hook in the tension regulator on a project which has been started? Unfortunately the video of basic crochet lesson has been deleted from RUclips. Would appreciate your input.
Thank you for this, I'm going to make a few in different yarns as I am an advanced crocheter but I have M.E and apart from when I do Tunisian crochet I use squash balls on regular crochet hooks. I get fatigued, my hands gets fatigued also.
I found a separate video where you show how to make the tension regulator. BUT, I've tried twice and it doesn't come out right. I've tried to slow your video down but sometimes when you're showing a stitch, the crochet drops below the video and I can't see exactly where you inserted your hook. At any rate, I always come out with 10 double crochets, not 9. What am I doing wrong?
Saw your other regulator video and immediately made two. While preparing to comment and thank you, saw this updated video and dashed over here. Made two more, just to make sure I did it right. These are so small, I anticipate making more because some will certainly get lost or go missing. I even made them in different sizes to accommodate the swelling I get in my fingers. Also discovered it was much more comfortable with two additional rows. I guess it's true that I have long fingers. I plan to make more to match the yarn I use it for. And give as gifts. My main reason to use these is I am constantly losing feeling in my fingers when trying to grip something. I spend a lot of time looking for dropped strands of yarn I thought I was still holding. I'm positive this will work for me. Thanks for making this known as an option and your instructions.
I actually had someone else have the same problem with not being able to grip things very well. She said this tension regulator is the only thing that enabled her to crochet. I hope this helps you too! Everyone's fingers are different so definitely adjust the regulator so that it suits you best.
Hi Sigoni Please made a Convert written pattern into a Diagram or Graph tutorial video. I find graph are less confusing than a written pattern . May be because I'm a visual person. Thank you for sharing your expertise. You sure are an excellent teacher clear and patient, much thanks.
I’m a beginner but I’ve made plants and pots, a crossbody bag, and a shirt but somehow this was the single most difficult thing I have ever attempted to make I don’t know what it is but I’ve pulled this out 3 times and am now sending myself to bed before I get more frustrated and will try again in the morning
Finally got it three attempts later!!! Couldn't get my tension right and it kept coming out all wonky (all the more reason i was so determined 😅) Too tired to try but I'll update my comment when I do.
Genuinely not sure why in a video to make a tension regulator to help beginner crocheters control their tension, you don’t slow right down and make it all a bit clearer and super easy, because this was actually quite tricky to do when you’re an ABSOLUTE BEGINNER and you CAN’T CONTROL YOUR TENSION 😂 Oh dear I do feel stupid now. Been trying to learn crochet for so long, and being disabled I have to lie down a lot, and it’s even harder to do anything creative (which I’ve always loved). I just want to crochet! Anyway, I’ve made *something* that will fit over my finger. It doesn’t look anything like yours though lol. I’ll see what happens! Thanks anyway. Nice design.
Depending on what you’re making, you could tie off your yarn at the end of the row and reattach it with the tension regulator. But that could mess with the tension you’re already working with so you might want to start using it once you begin your next project.
You could make the regulator around your yarn while it's still connected to your project. That's what I'm doing right now because the finger I use to keep tension is killing me and this may just give my pinky the break it needs...lol. What I'm making requires a great deal of tension, so I know the regulator won't give me the full tension I need, especially since I'm using thread.. But, I'm sure it'll help take some of pressure off my poor pinky. :D
@@angela1989oz It's helped a great deal! I can give my pinky the break it needs as I don't have to use it to pinch the yarn to control my tension. It's been a real game changer. I was using a thread/yarn guide before, but the thread (and yarn, if I'm working with yarn) just likes to pop out as I'm working it. This doesn't happen with the regulator. :) Though, I still have to remind myself to put my pinky out rather than curling it tight toward my hand. But, it's getting easier to remember not to do that so I'm curling that pinky less and less. Usually my pinky hurts a great deal even after taking a break for days, but today, no pain though I still have some mild looseness at the distal interphalangeal joint of my pinky, so it very mildly hyper-extends. Before, it was extending rather drastically (it was my Flexor digitorum profundus tendon of the pinky that became over-stretched specifically), but it's getting better by the day. :) I hope this helps, and I hope your pinky feels better. :)

I’m curious to see if it works for sock and lace weight yarn. I’ll try it and get back to you. Thank you this is a game changer. The beat part is you can use scrap yarn!
I made one this, but for the life of me, I can’t figure out how to use it with my work already in progress. How do I use it if I’m already well into my project?
hi I was very eager to use this tension regulator because I am very young and I don't have very good tension on my crochet and I have been wanting to quit because I haven't got anything right in my crochet I hope this will help because I'm just on the first step but I just wanted to let you know thank you!
Mine is letting the yarn slide a lot looser on its own, so I am using it by combining either doing a pinky wrap or holding the working yarn in between my pinky and ring fingers without adding tension, just for a bit of friction. Maybe because the current yarn I am working with, is a lot thinner than your pink one in this example. I think it will work fine on its own with slightly thicker yarn than this current one of mine.
I need to try this as I struggle with tension. Is there a way to bring in the regulator when you’re in the middle of a skein or do you need to wait until you’re starting with a new color/skein. I guess you could cut the yarn and bring it back in thru the regulator. Probably answered my own question. 😂
This is amazing! I always have issues with tension being too tight. My finished products always looked ‘tightly wound and stressed’. My only question...I have small fingers and the regulator is a little big that it slides off pretty easily. I used a 3.75 needle. Can I decrease the number of foundation stitches?
A must have tool for beginners... that a beginner CANT make! I literally need the tension help to make the chains. Is there a more beginner friendly tension tool to use or make?
Hi, I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble making this regulator. I know it can be hard to make and I’m working on creating another video with different options soon. I hope it helps.
Is there anywhere I can buy one of these? I haven't gotten far enough into this craft to understand the instructions in this tutorial. I broke down crying twice during my private lesson today because I can barely control the fingers in my left hand enough to get the chain done, and I can't control them enough to get started on the second row at all. I've tried wrapping the yarn around one of my fingers, but it just tightens up around my finger instead of sliding over it. Once my teacher gave up and got the first four rows done for me, I was able to pinch the yarn against the completed work to get something functional going, but I can't start any project by myself. By the time we even got to that point, I only had time to make two rows by myself, and I didn't learn any of the wording for what I was doing.
Thank you for this! I constantly have irritation on my tension finger from the yarn constantly sliding over the same spot, even had indents after a bit, and this helped! I do have a question though, how would you use this for things that start with magic circles?
This video might help for the yarn burn too! ruclips.net/user/shortsZPZlLlXw-h0?feature=share Unfortunately you can’t use the tension regulator when it starts with a magic circle 😕 at least I haven’t found a way. Unless you use one of the alternate methods of crocheting in the round, like starting with a chain

@Ciriun
Oops, forgot to say how to use...

Super beginner crocheter here- I have struggled to make this 3 times, on the 3rd time I finally made it!!! So happy. Now going to use my new tension regulator to make a new tension regulator that will be a little bit more uniform!! Thank you so much!
This is a GENIUS! I've ALWAYS had trouble with tension, and I have been Crocheting for years. So, THANK YOU!
You’re welcome!! I hope it helps ❤️
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!💞💞💞
I’m so so happy to hear this! You can rely on it for however long you need 😊
That’s amazing! I’m so so happy to hear that! ❤️
I count myself lucky because I don’t need a tension regulator BUT I’m teaching my cousin to crochet and I think this is EXACTLY what she needs. THANK YOU!!! ❤️
I have only 3 fingers .. and only one of them works..but now crochet is much easier..thanks
Me too!
Ahhh!!! I have a bad hand and usually wrap and use my middle finger so this has helped so much ❤❤
I deal with tension and pain in my index finger.
I had a hard time making it since im a beginner, but it was all worth it in the end. Thanks so much!
You are welcome! I truly hope it helps with the pain!
Thank you ❤
It took me a while to get this, it was still a bit wonky, but usable. 😁 Gamechanger for me as a rank beginner, so thank you Sigoni!
I hate the feeling of the yarn dragging on my finger so this helps so much. It also helps me crochet much quicker.
I just made one this morning and for the first time since my arm problems started my hook hand need a break before my tension hand even felt tired.
As a bonus, my tension looks very even
That makes me so happy to hear!
this was brilliant stops me from having to stop to re-position my yan and hand correctly every 5 minutes.
plus its a great place to store crochet hooks and stitch makers so i can stop loosing them :)
Thank you so much! Your regulator has greatly improved my tension.
That’s so great to hear!!
Hello Sigoni Macaroni👋🏼 What a thoughtful video I don't crochet but you are pretty good at this, you make it look so easy to learn and I like that Thanks for showing another great video with us too. I just had to drop back by to show my new family some more love.💕👍🏼💛👀💯💞
Thank you so much! You should give crochet a try. I think you’d love it!
@@SigoniMacaroni You are very welcome family and Maybe I will one day 💜💯💕
I just have to say that you're a fantastic instructor and yours are so perfect for me as a beginning crocheter needing help with all sorts of things. I want to progress so i can get to doing projects like my knittingand knowing all these tips and other information from you is such a help!
Thank you so so much! That means the world to me. I hope you continue to find my videos helpful! If you ever have any specific questions just let me know 😊
@@SigoniMacaroni :) I'm looking forward to watching all of your videos! I'll be sure and ask questions when I'm unsure :D I know I'll get all the help I need. Thanks :)
Thank you so much for this tutorial! This is going to help me so much! Struggle with my attention all the time. And your tutorial it's so easy to follow. 😊😊
Thanks for this. I got a set of hooks and two jumbo skeins of yarn but have been hesitant about trying to create anything because of my tension fluctuation issue.
The more you practice, the more you’ll get the hang of it I promise! But this tension regulator should definitely help you along the way 💕
I am so glad I found your video, and thank you for it. I know my granddaughter will use this. She’s 10 and trying hard to learn, tension is a real sticking point for her... I want one also and will get to work soon. Thanks again
Yes I think this tension regulator would be a great idea to try with kids! I would love to know if it works!
this changed my life thank you
I'm trying to improve my two stranded knitting. I'm going to give this a try. Thanks for the tutorial.
I hurt myself by holding the yarn too tight and I roll the yarn over my finger for like a hundred times. Oh gosh, how can I be so stupid?
Glad I found this video. You really help me a lot. Thank you so much!
How do you use this if you already have a project started? Also, I want to use this doing a tapestry crochet project. Any tips on how best to do this?
I have this same questions and was looking to see if it had been answered before asking it myself. Looks like she has not gotten back to you yet.
Same question!!!
Aaa this helped me so much, my index finger started to hurt bc i cant get the position for it (it usually hurts when i put them in weird positions) and with this it stopped hurting, thank you so much!
I hope I can keep the tension enough to make the regulator. But this has me excited.
Thank you. I watched the first one and had to watch this one to keep on my mind/memory. Good job!
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
That is absolutely brilliant!! Going to have to make one!
I hope it helps!
THANK YOU FOR THIS. THIS WORKS LIKE MAGIC!
Thank you for showing how to make this !!
You’re welcome!
Thank you so much for this video!
I have a dumb question for you 😊
How can I use the tension regulator when I have a project that is already started?
I finally made the tension regulator!
THANK YOU SO MUCH. you saved my finger from cutting.😃 I am into doilies these days and this is of great help. 🙂❤
So glad I could help! 💕
This is such an awesome idea now I am gonna make me some!!!!!
OH MY GOD OH MY GOD I LITERALLY SCREAMED WHEN I TRIED IT OUT 😭😭
Wow, this really works so well! Thank you so much for this video and sharing. Wonderful 🙂👍❤️🌻
You’re welcome! I’m so glad it helps
et avec se régulateur de tension vraiment génial est ce qu'on peut travailler en rond ... MERCI pour se régulateur ...
Thank you s much for creating this tutorial! What size yarn hook did you use for the bulky tension regulator?
thanks for this, can’t wait to try it out!
Let me know if it helps!
Thanks for this! My tension is usually pretty good, but I must be doing it wrong because it's really hard on my fingers. I hope this helps me 😭
Certainly going to give this a try!
I have tried to make one of these finger regulators and I have had some many interceptions and I haven't had any luck yet.I was wondering if you could
Saw your other regulator video and immediately made two.
I have been having a frustrating time with tension. I hope this solve the problem.
Tension is a pain for a lot of people. I hope this video helped but if it didn’t let me know because I have lots of videos on tension!
Hi Sigoni Please made a Convert written pattern into a Diagram or Graph tutorial video. I find graph are less confusing than a written pattern . May be because I'm a visual person. Thank you for sharing your expertise. You sure are an excellent teacher clear and patient, much thanks.
Thank you so much for this great tutorial.
You’re welcome!
I’m a beginner but I’ve made plants and pots, a crossbody bag, and a shirt but somehow this was the single most difficult thing I have ever attempted to make
I don’t know what it is but I’ve pulled this out 3 times and am now sending myself to bed before I get more frustrated and will try again in the morning
Wow! So happy I saw this! I can’t wait to try it!
I hope it helps!
Отличная альтернатива пластиковым ниткодержателям, которые используют при многоцветном вязании👍
Finally got it three attempts later!!! Couldn't get my tension right and it kept coming out all wonky (all the more reason i was so determined 😅) Too tired to try but I'll update my comment when I do.
Genuinely not sure why in a video to make a tension regulator to help beginner crocheters control their tension, you don’t slow right down and make it all a bit clearer and super easy, because this was actually quite tricky to do when you’re an ABSOLUTE BEGINNER and you CAN’T CONTROL YOUR TENSION 😂
Oh dear I do feel stupid now.
But how do you use this on a project that is already started
@@FujishimaAkiko how did you go with your poor pinky? I'm having the same problems, that's what brought me here.
I hope this helps, and I hope your pinky feels better. :)
@@FujishimaAkiko oh that's wonderful to hear. I've only been crocheting for 1 year and I was starting to think I'd have to give up my new favourite hobby. I'd hate to do long term damage to my body due to a hobby!
is this useful to reduce yarn burns?
I’m curious to see if it works for sock and lace weight yarn. I’ll try it and get back to you. Thank you this is a game changer. The beat part is you can use scrap yarn!
Yes definitely let me know! You may have to use a smaller hook or a weight 3 yarn to make it tighter but I think that should work!
I made one this, but for the life of me, I can’t figure out how to use it with my work already in progress. How do I use it if I’m already well into my project?
Ok, so I just made my tension regulator and I'm wondering how I can use this on something I've been crocheting. Thank you for your help.
Just a guess … you may need to cut your yarn to start using this tension regulator.
hi I was very eager to use this tension regulator because I am very young and I don't have very good tension on my crochet and I have been wanting to quit because I haven't got anything right in my crochet I hope this will help because I'm just on the first step but I just wanted to let you know thank you!
I want to make this! Thank you for this 😊
You’re welcome! Let me know if it helps! 💕
I think these regulators are very good for using paper yarn.
I’ve had tension figured out but it hurts my hands horribly so I’m very hopeful this may be the solution
How does this work for changing yarn when doing different colours?
Do you need seperate ones ?
This is amazing! I always have issues with tension being too tight. My finished products always looked ‘tightly wound and stressed’. My only question...I have small fingers and the regulator is a little big that it slides off pretty easily. I used a 3.75 needle. Can I decrease the number of foundation stitches?
Yes of course. I would make a couple chains and wrap it around your finger to see what fits best. Everyones fingers are different! 🙂
I hear you Taylor. I’m sinking!
This video might help for the yarn burn too!
ruclips.net/user/shortsZPZlLlXw-h0?feature=share
Unfortunately you can’t use the tension regulator when it starts with a magic circle 😕 at least I haven’t found a way. Unless you use one of the alternate methods of crocheting in the round, like starting with a chain
Excellent thanks 😊
Very cool idea....very helpful thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Would you have to dedicate one of these to a project until it's done or is there a way to remove it
I am wondering, if I am already working on a project, how do I use after starting the project?? Not before
Me a decided to learn crocheting yesterday girl clicking on this video being like this is the solution to all my problems only to end up with: hold up! I dont know how to dc
