Toyota Corolla Fog Switch & Intermittent Wiper Switch Install

  • A guide for installing an OEM fog light switch and wiper stalk on a 2001 Corolla and other 98-02s. Should also be very similar on other Toyotas of these model years, including the Camry/Lexus ES, and Echo. All plug and play.
    Ideally, the headlight switch should be from a 01-02 Corolla S, but I installed a headlight switch from a 97-01 Camry/Lexus ES, which had the fog light ring and ended up working with no issues.
    I pulled the wiper switch from a 99 Corolla LE that had intermittent wipers at a junkyard. The wiper switch from a Camry would likely be swappable as well.
    My price for both stalks combined was about $60. Not bad, and could probably be had for even cheaper depending on where you buy parts. Better than springing $120 each for new stalks.
    To install the fog lights (01 and 02 Corolla only), a relay needs to be installed- I used a Denso 567-0001 Relay, cost about $10 on Amazon.
    RELAY LOCATION:
    Next to the dead pedal (auto) or clutch (manual) and look to the left and upward. Here is an image of where to install the relay (orange socket)

    Excellent video and thank you very much. We own a cream puff 2001 Toyota Corolla with 106,000 miles - it's a great little grocery getter for my wife. I added aftermarket fog lights, the Denso relay and picked up a new headlight switch w/ fog light from a local salvage yard all for less than $100.00. The install went smoothly thanks to Toyota for pre-wiring the fog lights 20 years ago. I didn't need take the front bumper off - I just jacked the front up high and worked from underneath (with jack stands installed of course). Probably the most difficult part was standing on my head to install the Denso relay. This was a great hands on video and much appreciated.

    Could the oem 2001 corolla fog light system be installed on a corolla 2000? Already have the switch and relay. No pre wiring though.

    I'm adding factory fog lamps to an '01 Corolla LE, which has the wiring behind the bumper for the factory fog lamps, but the standard combination switch (lacking the fog lamp 'ring' switch). I'll be getting the a combination switch from an '02 Corolla LE which does have the factory fog lamps. I take it from the video that all I'd need to do, once I change to the new combination switch, is install that Denso relay #567-0001. Is it really as simple as that?

      @Mrlg220  6 лет назад +1

      That's correct. All plug and play, the 01s and 02s are prewired. Mine is a CE and of course came without fog lights, but worked like a charm.

    Do you know where i can find a diagram of what all these relays do in that area? I have some relays connected that you dont, and am wondering what they do. My fog lights wont turn on even tho i bought a new relay for them and installed them where specified.

    Hey Matt I was wondering where the relay is located. Could you send me a link or tell me how to locate it? Also, do you think a (1999-2002) Lexus rx300 switch will work?

      nooobmuch drive.google.com/a/uconn.edu/file/d/0B0EFiJKWdc-_WTgybEV3aFNVZHc/view?usp=drivesdk
      Here's a picture. If you crouch on the ground with your driver door open, and place your head by the pedals, you'll see this relay box on your left by the kick panel. The orange socket is where the relay will go. I don't know if the Lexus switch features will all work, such as the drl/auto headlight disabling but I think there's a good chance a lot of them will. Most Toyotas of this era had the same steering column switchgear.

    How i can connect fog light wiring with headlight switch because i don't have oem wiring

  • @felipes79
    @felipes79 7 лет назад

    Hi, I know I have a toyota corolla sport 2007, which already has the installation of the fog lights, I bought the complete set of fog lights, but I do not know where the neblineros relay is installed and the other one, the remote control where the lights go Normal of the auto "high and low lights" in the next contact I have the fog light and I turn on the lights independently but I do not have voltage where the fog lights plug ends, I wanted some advice if you obviously know.

    • @Mrlg220
      @Mrlg220  7 лет назад

      The reason why you might not have voltage is probably because the relay isn't installed, or the switch you have might not have the dedicated ring for the fog lights on it. I'm not sure about the 07 corollas, but the relay plug might be underneath the dash on the driver's side (near the pedals). Or it could be under the hood in the fuse box. Hope that helps.

    Were do I install the fog light relay. I'm so lost I know u said behind the kick panel

    • @Mrlg220
      @Mrlg220  6 лет назад

      Put your head near the pedals and look to the left, near the kick panel (with a flashlight, it'll be dark). You'll see a bunch of relays (see the video description for a picture) and the fog light relay is the orange socket in that area.

    Will this work on 1998-2000 Toyota Corolla models? Plan on getting a 2001-2002 bumper with fog lights but I don't know whether the fog light stalk switch will work on 1998-2000 models as well. My car comes with the intermediate wiper stalk switch, could that mean it's compatible?

    • @Mrlg220
      @Mrlg220  7 лет назад

      arisethefall21 The 98-00s aren't prewired for fogs so it wouldn't work unless you provided the missing wires to the relay panel in the car. You can try that, or use a universal fog light kit/switch for the fogs in your new bumper. Also I don't think that 98-00s have separate high beams( only a single h4 bulb I believe) so that's another consideration in terms of wiring

    Hi do you have any idea if this parts will work as well for the corolla in asian markets with left hand drive?

    • @Mrlg220
      @Mrlg220  6 лет назад

      I can't confirm but I believe as long as it's around the same year range (mid-late 1990s to early 2000s) you should have no problem. The dash, gauges, and interior design of the EU/Asian market and the USDM 8th gen Corollas are very similar, so I'd imagine the electronics are similar too.

      Hi just an update, and also to give insight to other viewers. I bought used parts (headlight and wiper switch) in ebay from Lexus and Camry USDM cars, ship it here in Philippines , and installed it in my 2002 Corolla and it works perfect, except for the Auto function on the headlight switch, I dont know whats the function of that in the former car, which is the Lexus. Thanks so much

    Will this procedure apply to a 2006 Toyota Corolla S model?

    • @Mrlg220
      @Mrlg220  5 лет назад

      The Corolla S should already come with fog lights. I believe the variable intermittent switch swap will work though. From what I've seen on Toyotanation, I believe 03-05 are pre-wired for fog lights and 06-08 aren't so it might not be quite as plug and play. If you don't have fog lights and only the black covers in the bumper you can check behind them to see if there's any hidden wiring.

    • @DanielsCarTalkChannel
      @DanielsCarTalkChannel 5 лет назад

      131Blitzer it should, if you have the wires tucked away under your headlights all you need is a relay and a stock with a fog light switch. My video is coming Sunday.

    Will this work on 97 Corolla?

    • @Mrlg220
      @Mrlg220  6 лет назад

      The fog light/headlight switch won't work since the 97 isn't prewired for fog lights. The wiper switch might work, but I can't say for sure. This swap will definitely work for 98-02 Corollas (wipers) and 01-02 (fog lights).

    • @victorlugo3363

      Matt Poon 🙁 have you done fog lights on 97 before?

    • @Mrlg220
      @Mrlg220  6 лет назад

      Victor Lugo I have not. They can be done with a custom setup/wiring and separate switch, but they're not plug and play like in the 01-02
