  • How to Replace a Turn Signal/ Headlight Switch for Dirt Cheap | Blinker Diagnosis (1997-2001 Toyota Camry)
This is a guide video on how to replace your Turn Signal Switch in a 1997-2001 Toyota Camry but these steps should be very similar for almost all Toyota Vehicles. In this video, we go to the Pull and Save to get our working part for dirt cheap to save a ton of money. If you don't want to get yours from the pull and save I have provided some links for the part in this description so you can still order one.

quoted $500 for me (charged me 150 to diagnose). Took me 15 minutes (5 minutes on ebay +10 install). Even easier on the '04 camry. Prviously they quoted me 250 for plastic part on the bottom of the car. I bought it for $20, and asked them kindly to install as part of an oil change. lol. Nice enough staff, but they are ridiculous to quote people such prices for factory "new" old parts.

This fixed my problem. My headlights would no longer automatically turn off when I turned the car off. Searched the internet for a fix and couldn't find anything. Since the car doesn't ding at you when you leave the lights on, we have a had a few dead batteries in the morning. Disconnecting the battery was the hardest part for me. And getting the plastic pieces to snap back together. Took about 1/2 hour.

I bought a third party new one (WVE) from Rock Auto for less than 20 bucks. It's been working great for months now. Hardest part was getting the top and bottom plastic shroud pieces mated together for reassembly. Still took about 20 minutes start to finish.

I stopped by Toyota to get this on the way home, price was $250, I knew better prices were on the internet. I knew what was wrong with my switch though because I had the problem before. I take whitish plastic cover off the switch, loosen two screws, turn over the part the loosens, clean the center contact that wears out real good with carb cleaner. Flux and solder on a thin piece of copper from an old cord plug I clipped off and cut around to make a circle. lol I'm pretty cheap but works great. From a plug that had folded prongs, not the solid ones, those are prob too thick. Only took about 15 minutes to clean on solder on.

Hello. I have a 97 Camry and just today the signals on both sides stop (they stay on-one at a time-they don't blink) and then they usually start blinking again. Then it happens again when I need to use them again. Any ideas if it is the flasher unit going out or the switch? Very informative video. Thanks a lot my friend.

I own a Camry 2009 SE and my headlight piece on the turn signal switch falls out. This was not a gradual thing it was night time and I got back in my car went to start it and turn the lights on and lights wouldn’t come on. Just the portion that turns. My signals work fine. It’s literally just that in peace that you turn and when I pull it out I see it the entire rod that’s inside of it comes out. There are two ball bearings and two springs. I can feel the tension of the springs but I cannot get the end to stay back in. Can I replace the entire headlight/turn signal piece the same way you did? Is it that simple on my model? I’ve already got my steering wheel plastic parts off.
