I met Susan that night...I had unexpectedly found myself backstage, actually on the side of the stage as I was searching for a restroom. I was SO thrilled to find myself there just in time to see Susan perform this song, and I was BLOWN AWAY! She nailed it. It was definitely the highlight of the entire show, and that's saying ALOT, as there was an abundance of very talented people performing that night. I was also fortunate enough to meet Al Jardine of the Beach Boys, and Carney Wilson, who was very funny and sweet. Susan, Carney and myself talked about how , at the age of 8, our moms made us all get pixie haircuts, and how much we HATED the fact that Mia Farrow made it so famous in Rosemary's Baby. It looked great on her! Not so much on us 8 year olds. I sure wish I had known Susan back then...I'm sure we would've become BFF's! I will post the version, or clip I got of this song from my POV, if you click over to my page. What a night it was! And a big thank you to Cosmo Topper for introducing me to Davy Jones, as well!
Someone commented on the Los Lobos version that how to preform this song was to show some restraint, Susan's performance has that, letting the words enforcing the narrators torment and struggles against adversity. Excellent version don't you just love The Beach Boys
BETTER than the 1973 Beach Boys masterpiece from the HOLLAND album! This rendition gives me goosebumps....Susan Cowsill is gorgeous, smart and ultra talented.
Magnificent cover of the Ray Kennedy/Beach Boys song. Susan is always the epitome of perfection. If The Beach Boys ever needed or considered a female vocalist this is the woman who already passed the audition. Actually, Susan Cowsill never needed an audition.
Susan is just so great here as are all the musicians. She is still writing and singing wonderful new music. Check out the Cowsill's newest album Rhythm Of The World !
It's one of the most beautiful Beach boy tunes ever and yet none of the Beach boys actually sang on it or played on it. Apparently Carl Wilson produced it and Brian Wilson was one of five people that wrote it otherwise that was it as far as Beach boys participation is concerned but yet it's so Beach boys!!
I MET SUSAN LAST NIGHT. I HAD UNEXPECTEDLY FOUND MYSELF ON THE SIDE OF THE STAGE WHILE TRYING TO LOCATE A RESTROOM .... JUST IN TIME TO FIND SUSAN NAILING THIS SONG. IT WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE EVENING ECT. ECT.
@@robkenny100 thats very cool. Im about the same age as John l think he was born in 1956, myself 1955 and poor old Barry 1954. The whole family was so talented.
Yes it was. My dad was a Ranger in WW-2. He always wanted me to be a Ranger. But I was rebellious, so I joined the Marine Corps 73-77. Semper Fi from an old Marine Sgt......OUT
I had unexpectedly found myself on the side of the stage while I was trying to locate a restroom...just in time to witness Susan NAILING this song! It was definitely THE highlight of the evening. You can see my version from the sidestage POV..it's a little blurry, but you can imagine how excited I was to find myself there, at that time!
Ah...NO...Blondie stays..Blondie plays a very mean and energized guitar and sings a very good S.O.S as well..but Brian could find a place for Susan. He had Taylor Mills, but she left for motherhood.
This woman must be THE most underrated singer in pop music.... She can do no wrong
agree 100%
Susan Cowsill never fails to melt my heart
I have never heard ANY Cowsill give a bad performance. This family is incredible, still! Great job Susan!
I agree the Cowsills are great. So much talent.
I love to hear The Rain The Park in live performances from the 2000's.
I had no idea.....I'm stunned - her voice....Jesus, she should have been in The Beach Boys!
Not to many who can give this song justice...she did a great job. the first female who gave this song some mean props....I salute you Susan...

Her brother John now drummer for the beach boys, Talented family!!!

She's amazing. All the Cowsills can sing, and Im a Led Zeppelin fan.
Someone commented on the Los Lobos version that how to preform this song was to show some restraint, Susan's performance has that, letting the words enforcing the narrators torment and struggles against adversity.

Just found an excuse to go to New Orleans, Susan is a regular in clubs there,,,,
Awesome job by all that night. A great night of music for a great cause. ~~~
After watching this about a dozen times, I might as well save it to my phone...
My favorite version of my favorite Beach Boys song .
One of my favorite songs just got even better.
Susan sounds great!

I agree. Susan does a great job. She's still cute.
Mine too but it isn't even sung by a beach boy.
@@elizabethcunicelli7023 Blondie Chaplin, a then new member of the Beach Boys, sang lead vocals.

These cowsills ❤️❤️ even tho came before I was born .
Back again, 17 Aug 23, back here in Charleston West Virginia.
Rip Carl Wilson.💯〽️🌴
Since she’d reading the lyrics off the music stand, she’s probably doing this being fairly new to the song. Impressive!
Awesome job!

Amazing! How about replacing Blondie Chaplin in Brian Wilson's band?
Ah...NO...Blondie stays..Blondie plays a very mean and energized guitar and sings a very good S.O.S as well..but Brian could find a place for Susan. He had Taylor Mills, but she left for motherhood.
To bad she was not in Brian Wilsons band.
She did a much better job than blondie!
Why cant she learn the words.
There is nothing really special to her voice…..
There is nothing special about your unasked for negativity
I love her!!
Perfect.
I thought it was sail on wind blown sailors
This is a difficult piece to sing..and most people don’t quite make it.....it is easy for Susan..well done..a pleasure to listen to
Have you heard the phenomenal job Susan did with Lulu's "To Sir with Love?" Incredible. You may even prefer it to the original.

As a sailor I highly approve of her version.

I love this woman! She's pretty cool for a youngun.
Back again 2 Sep 22. Great song, beautiful voice and beautiful lady. New Subscriber too.
Wail on, gf!
Very good!
wow!!!!!! What a talent!
She sang like Janis Joplin at 11, and Chryssie Hynde at 58.
Susan has so much talent.
I liked her on "Indian Lake".
Did she ever record this? She should. One of the best versions
Is she reading the lyrics?, it still sounds good
