- SUSAN COWSILL played four shows in Europe in fall 2004, her first visit after her departure from the Continental Drifters in 2001. The band featured Chris Knotts on guitar, Russ Broussard on drums, and Rob Savoy on bass.
This video was recorded at Susan's performance in Heilbronn, Germany on September 30, 2004. The Rain Song was written by Susan and Vicki Peterson (Bangles/Continental Drifters) and first appeared on the Continental Drifters album Vermilion.
THE RAIN SONG
Well, I don't think about us much anymore
And frankly the topic has become a bore
And you don't come up much in my conversations
And I don't think about you on vacation.
Oh, but when it rains
When it rains
When it rains
That's when I remember
That's when I remember
I remember you
I remember you.
Well, I don't think about you when I'm sleeping
It doesn't even cross my dreamlike mind
And I don't think I see your face through the curtain
Hell, I don't even miss you half the time (half the time).
But when it rains
When it rains
When it rains
That's when I remember
That's when I remember
I remember you
Well, I remember you.
Rain, rain, go away
I'm doin' fine as long as you stay
Locked up inside your cloud of grey
Rain, rain
Rain, rain, rain (rain)
Rain, rain
Rain.
'Cause when it rains
Well, when it rains
When it rains
Well, that's when I remember
Now that's when I remember
And I remember you
Yeah, I remember you.
That's when I remember (now I remember)
The only time I remember (now I remember)
Well, I remember you (now I remember).
Susan, you are SO talented!!!
This is so unbelievably great. Why am I just discovering it? A flawless live performance deserving of millions of views.
Right? Same here….
I had no idea! Just discovered this, summer 2024. I was 15, when "the flower girl" song was on the radio. Several yrs ago, I saw the Cowsills in the "Happy Together Tour", really enjoyed it. Great song, Susan!
Most of the time when I hear her sing I feel a need to write something. It is now
Where I cannot find the right words to describe how she moves me. Unbelievable how good she is. Some of you may not agree, there always are. But everytime I see her or hear her sing, the only way now to describe that now is that Susan means the world to me. It's not a crazy thing to say. Truth and kindness. You will see that if you ever have a chance to talk to her. In fact her brothers are the same way. Precious and dear people.
I just love Susan's voice ~ like listening to a friend!
a nice song...
My favorite song of hers. She KILLS it. Mongo LOVE Susan Cowsill!

This woman is amazing.
Another great version of one of my favorite songs of hers. Really in good voice on this track.
Love Her Music . And Her And The Great Band ,
Anyone who hasn't checked out Susan Cowsill's solo albums "Just Believe It" and "Lighthouse" should do so. They are treasures.
Love her voice great range it just reaches out grabs you by the back of your neck and your hooked .
Powerful, sweet and beautiful; I love you Susan!
My favorite. I saw her do this with the Continental Drifters.
That's one band I regret never getting a chance to see.
What a great song! Very under appreciated.
Out of mind since the mid 60's when The Rain the Park and Other Things came out, Loved that tune, Just found all this newer (and Older tunes) buy her on here, An Amazing voice, Really am digging everything so far by her I have come across.
Just love this ladys voice wish i had this cd Thank you xxx
Wonderful Susan. Love her.
Wow, nice hook, catchy. Ya hooked RocKN JB from Detroit.
Loveeee this song so much, you rock Susan
Amazing performance!
Oh, my gosh.....she's so GOOD! And a great song to boot. I could listen to this over and over. She's everything everyone is complimenting, and more. She has that special gift where you can actually follow the "story" of the lyrics that she sings. Some performers just have that "magic" that comes to life on stage. She is certainly one of them. I hope she comes to Las Vegas sometime in the future....when live music resumes....
UPDATE: The Cowsills will be in Las Vegas on January 14, 2022!! Gonna be special!
Susan Cowsill is a treasure.
Loving this! I've only heard the Bangles do this song on their Return to Banglonia concert. I liked it, but I must say Susan's version is the ultimate! She really hits it home here. Oh my goodness! What a treasure, indeed!!!
Yup. I wonder if she knows how good she has become.
I wish that i had ran into her beautiful soul a few years back i just love her shes a great singer i can see us sitting by a fire in the woods just keeping things cool
Ive grown to love this lady and her style this rain song and when she was telling the story of around the bend i wish that I had known her
Just watched the Cowsills Documentary and started poking around the net and came across this gem. I am diggin it! Nice.
susan you doll, your darn good girl.
I could hear this song being used in a movie soundtrack...
Great song; great performance!
It always rains in my town (Campbell River) but we'd love to see you here.
I love both versions x 3. The Bengals version, then when Vicki teamed with susan, as a member of the Continental Drifters. When Susan performs this song, she simply gets lost in it. Powerfully real. This live version is quite the capture
Wonderful song!
I love you Susan! you're my flower girl.
Love love this song!
As is with all Her other stuff... Breathtaking 🌞
Only wish i had this cd xx
Love you Susan!
I wish I knew if she's playing Oregon because I definitely will go!
cowsill.com/home/appearances/
Wow
She can sing anything
Why shes not a household name ……so talented……gets me
Susan co-wrote this great song with Vicki Peterson from the Bangles. What an excellent tune !!!
Yes, it was written while both were members of the Continental Drifters and released on the Drifters’ Vermillion album.
Thanks, I just discovered this fantastic song, & was wondering who wrote it.
And I read that Vicky P. , Susan's sister in law, is married to John Cowsill.
Cab you BELIEVE this is that little girl we knew back then!?
Hands down, this live version is superior to the studio version and other live versions seen on youtube.
Sounds like Sheryl Crowe, Roseanne Cash, a little Annie Lennox and who else? Great talent.
great feeling with this song, plus she is on key
"On key" is something you can expect from a pro ...
Guitar player’s playing style reminds me of Jeffrey Hatcher.
Susan has magic in her veins boy she can sing
Prominent lead, shades of Jeffrey Hatcher.
I hear music theft! First half of the song sounds like a song on john Kelly camps scare crow albums 1985!
Darn spell check john Mellencamp
Which song?
A tiny touch from John mellencamps 1985 scare crow albumn not enough for copy right infringement.
