Sail On, Sailor lyrics:
I sailed an ocean, unsettled ocean
Through restful waters and deep commotion
Often frightened, unenlightened
Sail on, sail on sailor
I wrest the waters, fight Neptune's waters
Sail through the sorrows of life's marauders
Unrepenting, often empty
Sail on, sail on sailor
Caught like a sewer rat alone but I sail
Bought like a crust of bread, but oh do I wail
Seldom stumble, never crumble
Try to tumble, life's a rumble
Feel the stinging I've been given
Never ending, unrelenting
Heartbreak searing, always fearing
Never caring, persevering
Sail on, sail on, sailor
I work the seaways, the gale-swept seaways
Past shipwrecked daughters of wicked waters
Uninspired, drenched and tired
Wail on, wail on, sailor
Always needing, even bleeding
Never feeding all my feelings
Damn the thunder, must I blunder
There's no wonder all I'm under
Stop the crying and the lying
And the sighing and my dying
Sail on, sail on sailor
Sail on, sail on sailor
Sail on, sail on sailor
Sail on, sail on sailor
Sail on, sail on sailor
Sail on, sail on sailor
Sail on, sail on sailor

Brian Wilson official bio:
Legendary songwriter Brian Wilson began his career as a teenaged founding member of The Beach Boys, who signed with Capitol Records in July 1962 and released their first album, Surfin’ Safari, that same year. The band’s initial surf-rock focus was soon broadened to include other themes. Wilson’s innovative vocal and instrumental arrangements for major hits including “I Get Around,” “California Girls,” “Wouldn’t It Be Nice,” “God Only Knows,” and the No. 1 smash “Good Vibrations” established The Beach Boys as America’s preeminent band of the 1960s.
In 2015, Wilson released his latest solo album No Pier Pressure (Capitol) and was the subject of the critically-acclaimed, award-winning biopic Love & Mercy (Roadside Attractions/Lionsgate). Directed by Bill Pohlad and starring John Cusack, Paul Dano, Elizabeth Banks and Paul Giamatti, Love & Mercy presents an unconventional portrait of the music legend. Set against the era-defining catalog of the music, the film intimately examines the personal voyage and ultimate salvation of the iconic performer whose success came at an extraordinary personal cost. The culmination of these projects produced Wilson’s first Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Song (Motion Picture) for “One Kind Of Love," which was featured in the film.
Brian Wilson is a Kennedy Center Honors recipient, a Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee, and a U.K. Music Hall of Fame inductee. As a member of The Beach Boys, Wilson was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1988, and honored with The Recording Academy’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001.
Thanks for watching my video. I gathered all the videos I shot at this concert in a RUclips playlist: ruclips.net/p/PLwdc0qZNx0tayKsoah94YDnLaDwNFj18J . The songs are I Get Around, Wouldn't It Be Nice, God Only Knows, Long Promised Road, Sail On Sailor, Good Vibrations, Surfin' USA, Fun Fun Fun, and Love And Mercy. Enjoy!
Thanks for sharing!
Blondie kicks butt on this song, as usual. Brian once said he had Ray Charles in mind when he wrote it. Over the years, Carl Wilson, Billy Hinsche, and Brian himself have performed the lead vocal with The Beach Boys, but it's Blondie on the original hit record. Well done!
Ray Charles did perform this on a Beach Boys 25th anniversary special. another touring BB singing lead was drummer Bobby Figueroa. But the person that owns this is Blondie. Also, he does a great job singing lead on the 1967 BB's tune 'Wild Honey'. He would sing it on tour with the group in the short time he was a BB 72-73.
@@asr53 Blondie definitely owns this song. But I would have loved to have heard the great Ray Charles perform it.
Just love this 😀
@@chrisfreeman9960 there is literally a video of it on youtube

By far the BEST song the Beach Boys every did....yes I've heard Pet Sounds, but there is a depth to this I can't explain...didn't think the original could be improved, but love this one as well!!
It IS the best song ever recorded by the Beach Boys! ❤
The great Blondie Chaplin. A great showman, too! No one sings this song like Blondie can.
Totally agree with you! Blondie is dah man! ❤
I randomly heard this tonight at a bar n grill, for the first time in- how long. I've been listening to this over and over, all night since.
I saw Blondie with Beach Boys at Fairports Cropredy Festival, he was brilliant!
my favorite of all their songs, thank you Blondie, I have loved this song for decades, always will.
My favoirite Beach Boys Record - just awesome!
Although written by Brian Wilson, Blondie Chaplin (ex the SA band, The Flames), certainly 'took ownership' of this song, with his strong vocal abilities, which saw him become a 'member of the Beach Boys, alongside another member of The Flames, Ricky Fataar. In later years, Blondie also joined Rick Danko (The Band) on both some of Rick's solo stuff (recorded & on stage) & Paul Butterfield on a number of Live gigs. Blondie also plays some mean guitar on this tune! I'd recommend those of you may not be 'aware' & who enjoyed Blondie on this clip, to go check out the brilliant Flames album, Titled: 'See the Light' (credited to 'Flame' - some marketing decision - Lord knows why!). Much can be said about The Flames... But that would take a book, to give it proper creedence!
Loving this. One of the few "Beach Boys songs" I truly liked ...and this version is stellar.
Nice! He's still got it!
Fantastic. A great song, great performance and a Gibson Les Paul. And a permanent place in musical history. Beach Boys 4ever.
At 3:05 and 4:18 the look on the great Brian Wilson's face is like: "Eff it--I wrote this sh--, but Blondie is OWNING that m----- f-----!!" Great performance!
I love this so much Blondie!
From the (short) period that the Beach Boys did Adult Rock. The stuff before this was great of course, too....
They ought to do a studio arrangement like this with that searing guitar!
Thank you for sharing! This was awesome!
what a special guy
Happy Birthday BLondie
The song is nothing without the harmonies going one . Brian knew
You rock!
I saw him with rick danko at the bottom line once. Dude didnt miss a note. He did "Cant find my way home" started on acoustic then in middle song said "wait a minute" switched to electric and blew the rest of the sing out of the park. Also did A Change is gonna come".
Blondie in the Hizzie!
Great musician I haven’t seen him since he was with the stones.Looks good but old
We all get old (hopefully) I remember i bought the Holland album after hearing another group doing a cover version in the early 70's. So I'm pretty damned old too.
C'mom..."but old"? Really? That's like saying, "...but Black." -Doug Pratt, Atlanta, Georgia, USA
@Doug Is it REALLY?..
Blondie would be perfect to play one of the Ghouls on Netflix's hit adapation of the Fallout games, doesn't need any special makeup!
What a bitchen song!!! Now I want to download Pet Sounds!
The REAL Beach Boys band.
Oak town!
Your commercials are to long
For the first few years I thought Carl sang it. He would do that kind of singing on some songs.
He's a lot less blond than I previously thought
😀😀😀
interesting version but beach boys version much better thanks to carl
Duh, dude. 😂
Wth is Blondie Chaplin ?
He was a member of the Beach Boys in the early 1970s. He sang lead on the original version of this song. Later on, he was a member of the Rolling Stones for at least a decade.
A phenomenal talent, that’s who.
I had not seen him do this song live, he was a backup singer for The Rolling Stones for a decade or more, that’s how I know him. But as someone said I always thought this was their best song, and he sang it originally. It looks like he’s really enjoying being up front again. 👏
@@TimBracken -- Was there _another_ Beach Boys recording of "Sail On, Sailor" after the original?
Hi DLC, there have been later live releases of the song without Blondie singing lead vocals.
