Thanks for the comments and compliments. It was a fun day in the studio to be sure. I was given complete freedom to sing every harmony I could dream up...time permitting, that is. I think after we played it, I was given an hour or 90 minutes to go nuts with it. Oh, definitely not an effort to outdo anyone, but to pay homage to them for a great song. I was given some options for the CD (Juxtamusician), and this was IT for me. We may start playing it live in my set...which we've never done!
I used to sing this in my first band in the original key and all, but I was still a teenager then. It's not an easy song to sing and you completely nailed it. This is now my favorite version second only to the Beach Boys' (and lest that sound like faint praise, a lot of great artists gave this song a go throughout the years...a lot.) I always loved playing your solo work and the cocaine drain album's songs for people and watch their "who is this and how are they not a household name?" reactions to your talent. You're one of a kind. ♥
Susan Cowsill you were the best and I still think the world of you! I hope you are still doing great here in late 2019. The world has not forgotten you nor you’re brothers. I hope you had a great life behind the curtains after all the terrible stuff you lived through with you’re father. Love from Cleveland, Ohio !
Susan, some people can sing, others ARE singers, they embody the song. You ARE a singer. it's not what you do, it's what you are. People know the difference. Good luck and never stop!
Susan-not sure you’ll ever see this as I write it in 2023 but thank you. This is absolutely beautiful. You and the rest of your family has brought so much joy over your career. Been a fan since he beginning. It’s hard to believe you all are so talented.
Graciously energetic talent. She always seemed to have that ability to steal your heart with her personality when she was young and now as an adult, an enhanced version. I would love to see her perform live with her band and also see her with her brothers and family. She is most certainty underrated as a musician and a song writer!
@@donnapoppewagner2332 the cowsills deserve & still have some big gigs in them!! maybe john cowsill will rejoin them now that he has left the beach boys!!
I thought Brian Wilson was THE master of this song and the beach boys recording was the full stop. A few other versions have floated in and out of the decades but this is superb. Thank you Susan Cowsill❤️😊❤️
Well done Susan. One of my favorite versions of any song. I listen to it over and over. Your voice and harmonies just send chills up my back. As much as I like the original you win. I wish you would play it live. I listen to every show you do on FaceTime. I love your music and voice. You’re my favorite female singer. Thank you.
Just found this Version! Beautiful voice of a girl I fist heard in 1966-1967! Great job on this song Susan Cowsill!! I wondered where you went I missed you! I will be searching for other songs you sang. A big Fan of yours!!!
What a beautiful version of this song. Susan sounds great. The family is so talented and really under appreciated for their talents and ability to create music.
Absolutely!! And her voice has grown even richer and smoother as the years pass. And how cool is this classic cover of the Beach Boys! I wonder if John is playing drums on this track (as he has been the official drummer for the Beach boys for over 2 decades) great music; great family. Thank you for sharing # JaNaBeNa!
I said before that I didn't have the words to describe the joy I feel when I see her or hear her sing. God only knows what I mean. The goodness inside of her just comes out when she sings and all I want is to throw my arms around her.
Well, it’s 2023 now and I’m just hearing this for the first time…WOW!! Wish the Cowsills would do their own tour…their catalog is soooo deep…throw in Cocaine Drain and all of Global and last years release and it’s a full night. Bring it to SF please.
YOUR entire family's music has brought me so much joy over the years. How can I thank you. I love this - I also LOVE the song - I Really Want to Know You - it always touches my heart so deeply - both your mom's version and YOURS! Thank you Susan!
I recently watched the documentary on the Cowsills. WOW! So glad you are a survivor too Susan!! Loved all the music, so many wonderful memories when I listen to it today!!
It's awesome to know that Susan and the great music she's done is still being enjoyed. And I was born well after The Cowsills peak. Talent never gets old or dies.

I just watched the documentary on Showtime about The Cowsills. I grew up listening to them and still love their music. However, Susan Cowsill is a very Real and Rare talent. Brian Wilson is a musical genius and Susan Cowsill has made his music even more Beautiful. Thanks to Susan and her brothers for creating beautiful music for all us to listen to and have great memories to.
Wasn't much of a Cowsills fan growing up, but listening now i see what great music they made. Susan was so cute in early clips, glad to see she is still making music!
Wonderful! This being sung by someone who was a part of the music scene in the 1960's, who's band at the time often sounded very much like the Beach Boys, and who likely admired this song greatly as a young girl, really gives the performance a great depth and sentiment.
This beautiful version lowers heaven to the earthly world and listen to a beautiful angel, Susan Cowsill, caressing our entire being with her melodious voice. Ideal for dancing in the dim ligh and forgetting about the outside world.

It actually sounds like a love song when Susan sings it.
