the second half of the 20th century had more incredible legendary musicians and composers than I think will ever happen in any century ever again. It was the perfect combination of instruments and recording techniques being perfected, a big pool of classical genius to draw from and build on and they didn't have stuff like autotune yet so people really had to be able to play their instruments.
There is no way, absolutely no way, to fail in your career when your presentation card is a song like this. At this point, when the first chord sounded, Oasis took possession of the world.
It does annoy me when people dismiss Oasis as just a Beatles rip off band. Tons of artists have tried to rip off The Beatles but what made Oasis great was that they really were their own new thing. Noel was good enough to compose at least a dozen songs that were easily as good as The Beatles songs and Liam was a good enough singer to bring them to life. Overall I don't think anyone will ever surpass The Beatles but there have been enough groups to me that at their peak were in the same league.

Death of grunge and the birth of britpop which is quite funny because live forever is an indirect answer to nirvana’s “I hate myself and I wanna die”
