I would add that since the protest in 2020-2021 many thousands of the opponents of the regime found themselves in prison, and many tens of thousands more fled the country. I think this could've influenced the opinion polls a bit.
Also, beside the Kalinouski Regiment, there are two more Belarusian volunteer formations (both probably smaller):
    - The Pahonia Regiment; more closely connected with the mainstream opposition in exile led by Svetlana Tsikhanouskaya and supposedly containing some defectors from the Belarusian governmental forces.
    - The so-called Belarusian Volunteer Corps; formed around a battalion that split off the Kalinouski Regiment. They seem to be the most radical.

Firstly, thank you for the video. BUT. 09:42 - we had the same amount of "struggle" that our neighbours had. All post-soviet republics(including eastern block) gained independence almost the same year. And not because "years of struggle". And yes, we also had protests, demonstrations and resistence. Also, we got independence not under the shown green-red flag, but under white-red-white one. Current "official flag" identical to soviet one will be brought back 5 years later only after lukashenko will become president and make several rigged referendums. The rest is ok.

Im not blaming you for not knowing that, but you made a big mistake on how the opinion of the pro-west Belarusians got shaped. The thing is that a huge chunk of the Belarusian population traveled and worked a lot mainly in Poland and also in Lithuania. Those folks simply had the ability get the taste of a modern democracy on their own skin and those folks let their relatives know that things are better westwards. In other words in the case of "pro-west" Belarusians it was not the media that shaped their opinion, but by empirical evidence. This is precisely why such a big chunk of the Belarusian population has really high democratic values. No media influence could do that simply because democracy doesnt play on "primal instincts" like totalitarian political systems do.
Also that polling done by Chatham House is off as hell if we actually compare it to the protests from 2019. An easy way to skew a polling like this is to conduct that polling in just very specific areas of a country (in this case the more east you will do the polling the more pro-ru it will be).

How convenient, the highest number of belarusians working and living abroud ( no, not just people who have Belarusian ancestry) is in russia because the nation offers the possability for economic growth of the individual as well.
And the argument ,,things are simply better there" is a lie people tell to suit a certain narrative or to delude themselves into thinking that. Those people you talked about have inevitably discovered something they arent pleased with but have chose to ignore it. The grass just seems greener on the other side but its not.
Politicians in democratic states absolutlys prayon human irational and impulsive decisions as well as emotional messeging just like any other regime.

Belarusian indecisiveness is also noticeable in its language.
Btw İ am not saying that this is bad or good. İt just is.
Belarusian standard language, including the spelling and writing system, isn't "fixed".
İt has different alternatives and varieties.
You can see it as weakening people's motivation who want to learn it (Which standard shall İ follow?), but on the other hand you can also see the language as having a greater deal of freedom and flexibility, perhaps in a way comparable with the situation in Norwegian where you also have several options even in the standard written language.

For such a small video, it's not that bad. In a short time it gives a good set of facts. Among other things, it mentions, albeit briefly, the period before the arrival of Lukashenkо and Russification. Perhaps the author simply did not focus on these periods due to the limited timing.
But here it is shown how the unreformed economy of Belarus and financial dependence on Russia lead to political lack of independence. I am also pleasantly surprised that an episode of the "trade wars" that Russia waged with many of its neighbors is mentioned here.
Of course, everyone who makes a video should remember that for a long time the Russian-language versions of the names and toponyms of Belarus, Ukraine, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and other republics were used in the world. In the same way as it is now customary to write Kyiv, and not Kiev, Belarusian names should also be written. It is worth paying tribute, the author of the video did not say Belarussia (the word Russia is used), but Belarus (Rus is used). Which is already good.

    Great video! 👍🏻
One of the main reasons for the Soviet collapse was the fact that because their economy was sh*t they reluctantly decided to allow foreign tourists into the country, despite all of their stringent regulations and precautions the Russian ppl. soon realized through their interactions with these tourists that they had been lied to for decades! Soon there evolved a booming black-market economy for anything Western especially 'blue jeans' music and movies, {edit: Oh, and Jack Daniels! 😁} from this they learned that a good life and luxuries were freely available in the west and that most could afford them, where-as they couldn't even dream of it! Comparing the low quality of life and the lack of amenities and products they had been taught and thought was a high living standard in the USSR. many were shocked by the reality.
I remember seeing footage of the amazed and excited East German ppl. who for the first time were allowed to enter West-Germany to stroll the well-lit streets even at 3 or 4 am. And all the shops were still open, later they commented on the shock they felt after receiving the love and open arms of the West German ppl. towards them, for the West Germans it was like at last reuniting with long lost family! . . .I'll never forget seeing their reactions.
This is what brought down the Berlin Wall and the Iron Curtain soon afterwards! A similar awakening has apparently happened in Belarus especially if the ppl. can spend some time in the West. 💡

Also on the topic of Novgorod Veche Republic, it consisted of both eastern Slavs and different Finnic people, such as Veps, Bjarms and Karels. The government type can be roughly identified as one of a trade republic like the Venetian one. The Veche consisted of different interest groups who held the power and they could invite and vote for a military general to defend themselves and organize the military force, a governor and an archbishop. Well, all these candidates should have had a certain background of course and rural peasants still didn't get much, as their opinion was almost worthless, but merchants, landowners, artisans and guilds, for example were quite important as they were the blood of the trade. Still considering the time-period with it's norms and ethics, it is pretty impressive. You may say that they had bells of steel to be able to do that. Well, they actually did had a bell. One bell that was signifying that the veche has been summoned. It was their symbol of republican sovereignty and independence from it's neighbours. Well, it was i a sense cut off, when Ivan the 3rd took it with him to Moscow after he subjugated it.
What is funny is that the region is still the most liberal and one of the most developed in current Russia. That and being the historical centre of many revolutionist movements leads to consequences. I haven't seen any recent studies on the matter, but from what I heard from a few friends of mine in Russia: the level of force that "regulatory forces" are likely to apply even in Moscow to the St. Petersburg is much less drastic.

These countries even hope to create a common project - Intermarium, as a kind of revival of a more equal Commonwealth. In the future, a free Belarus could become a part of this space.

it all depends on how bad russia loses
even though I'm very pro Ukraine (duh) I don't think that all the occupied territories, puppet states and dependent countries will be freed, sadly. Like Georgia for example, holding the 20% of their territory isn't very demanding since those are just relatively small pieces of land bordering russia so it's super unlikely that russia will lose so bad that they'll have to withdraw from them. And poor Georgia is simply too small and weak to take those back by itself, even when russia is weakened. On top of that Georgia doesn't have a bigger stronger neighbor that would help them with the issue (like Moldova has Ukraine and Romania)

But there is a lot of pressure on him. On February 24, 2022, Belarusian troops, together with the Russian army, entered the territory of Ukraine. But when the war did not go according to plan, they quickly returned.

And again, this can be probably just ignored when it's just a "joke" in some silly chat on the Internet. But it's not funny anymore when real invasions or annexations start. In the past, we used to not pay too much attention when the Russians persistently insisted on labelling Belarus as "Белоруссия" (Belorussia) or saying "на Украине" (a grammar construct, which intends to imply that Ukraine is supposedly not a country). Turned out, this was a way to express their imperialist views all along. And today there's nothing covert about it.

_Something important to know, for all who are interested in history and/or support Ukraine:_
_Rus' ought not to be confused with modern “Russia”, which derives its name from the Rus' but historically is a completely different state, which almost all its existence was at war with the Rus'._
_Just like the Holy Roman Empire was actually Germany, “Russia” is actually Muscovy, despite their best attempts to convince everybody otherwise._
_Its name “Russia" received only in the 18th century, when Peter I simply changed Muscovy’s name into the “All Russian Empire” (Russia originates from Rosia, name used by the Greek Orthodox Clergy in regards to Rus')_
_Under the reign of Cathrine II Muscovites where even punished for continuing to identify as Muscovites, and were forced to call themselves Russian._
_Lands that Russia (Muscovy) claims were part of the original Rus', but actually weren't, are Novgorod, Suzdal, and Ryazan, since in historical texts of XI-XII centuries they are mentioned as separate entities from Rus'. They can be considered parts of extended Rus', although their culture was distinct from main Rus'._
_In 1493, Muscovite duke Ivan III appointed himself to be the Great Ruler of All Rus'. No other kings acknowledged that. From that point on Muscovy started to make false claims on Rus' ownership._
_“Russia” is an offshoot of Ukraine and not the other way round, despite what Soviet and Russian (Muscovite) historians have been trying to say for years. A Slavicised Finnic, then later, Mongolized offshoot. Kyiv was a developed cultured capital when Moscow was just another swamp village._
_Germany used to call itself the Holy Roman Empire, that didn’t mean they became the Romans, and all of a sudden had a right to claim whole of Italy and its history, but yet, that’s exactly what Russia (Muscovy) did in regards to Rus'-Ukraine, which is a horrible injustice!_

Bruh, that's just an ultimate bullshit. Dude's knowledge of history is questionable at best. Yes, he said that Ivan III, the Grand Prince of the Grand Principality of Moscow, adopted the title "Sovereign of all Russia", but he forgot the more important event - fucking Proclamation of the Tsardom of Russia in 1547. So renaming "Muscovy" to Russia in 18th century is wrong. Plus already in the 16th century the Grand Principality of Moscow was called Russia on different foreign maps.
      - "In 1493, Muscovite duke Ivan III appointed himself to be the Great Ruler of All Rus'. No other kings acknowledged that." That's also wrong. Among the first to acknowledge this were Danish kings and the Habsburgs, so it's also wrong.
      - "Under the reign of Cathrine II Muscovites where even punished for continuing to identify as Muscovites, and were forced to call themselves Russian." Just sourceless bullshit.
      - "“Russia” is an offshoot of Ukraine and not the other way round." Who appeared first - Russia or Ukraine? I think that answers what is wrong with that statement.
      - "A Slavicised Finnic, then later, Mongolized offshoot." and "Rus'-Ukraine" I think this russophobic statement and another retarded statement shows where loyalties of this commentator lies.
      - "Kyiv was a developed cultured capital when Moscow was just another swamp village." Yes, Kiev was founded in the 4th century, but these trans-ukrainians completely forgot the fact that Kiev wasn't founded by the Rus', but conquered in 882.
      - "Lands that Russia (Muscovy) claims were part of the original Rus', but actually weren't, are Novgorod, Suzdal, and Ryazan, since in historical texts of XI-XII centuries they are mentioned as separate entities from Rus'." First of all, Rus' state originated near Novgorod, in Ladoga. Then the capital moved to Novgorod, and, ~20 years after the foundation of the Ancient Rus' state, it moved to Kiev. So Novgorod and other were the part of the original Rus'. There are 2 possible reasons why they are mentioned as a separate entities. 1. Ancient Rus' was organised more akin to a tribal confederation. 2. It was because of stupid succession law, where the eldest son would receive the title of the Grand Prince of Kiev, being the formal head of the Ancient Rus' state, and other sons would receive some local principalities to rule, the younger son was, the less important principality he would receive. But brothers always had their own interests, 'cause in case of death of the eldest son, the second one receives the title of the Grand Prince of Kiev, and every other one also "rank ups". And because of that there were constant conflicts between brothers, so it was somewhat logical to separate them in the chronicles. Also, Novgorodian Rus' or any other could have used to describe a region and not a state.
      - "They can be considered parts of extended Rus', although their culture was distinct from main Rus'." No, it wasn't. Yes, they had differences because of the different biomes they inhabited, but they were united economically, linguistically and religiously, so they weren't fundamentally different from one another and that was one of the reasons that Rus' managed to reunite again in form of the Tsardom of Russia.
So yeah, this fucker just rewrites history in favour of Ukraine, 'cause real Ukraine doesn't have any real history, so some retards just try to create one by constant lying...

Some countries will lose some territory but gane a population thats ethnical same and other countries will win some ethnical the same population that now living in another country because of how the USSR was broken up not because they wanted too ..what gives problems again and again and wars and border classes with no resolution in side...
