AWESOME !!! I could hear your wheels a churning. "Yes it works but I can add this and maybe do this and I know that will work" Just keep having fun with the saw mill and keep sharing, we love watching and dreaming too. Thanks a bunch.
Yup, a list of upgrades is waiting. Thanks for watching!
Milling your own lumber on the saw mill you built is the best feeling. I was amazed at just how heavy it is to handle fresh cut wood.Beautiful job on the mill.
At last , someone making boards that a worth something . Well done sir , took that tree one hundred years to grow , thank you for taking five minutes to cut it right .
لطفاشماهیچ چیزچوبی استفاده نکن اگه راست میگی هیچ آتشی باهیزم روشن نکن
Supongo que ud no tendrá nada hecho en madera .
This is the best homemade sawmill on the interweb.
Big, strong, durable, clunky; AWESOME!
Make me one!!
Until that blade gets hot enough and melts the rubber on the tires.
Радуют такие люди как ты. Все сам. Сделал, распилил и никого не ждешь. Молодец!!!
Amazing build and true talent sir. I’m blown away by how well your mill performs.
LG. Herbst Johann aus Österreich
Only thing lacking ... a demo of your design to lift/drop blade. Well done!!
It has been a pleasure to watch you what you like to do I have learned a lot and you did not waste time talking like the others your are brilliant and if you made this beautiful machine congratulations you are my hero thankyou I wish I can do the same when I make my house
Thank you very much!
Very Nice! Hands down the nicest mill I've seen built on RUclips yet! I'm getting ready to build a mill and have been watching vids just to get an idea what others are doing and there are several idea's I'll be incorporating into my mill off of your build! That guide slide system is very cool!!
All it needs is two things...
1) Automatic water/ soap lube drip
2) Fresh coat of Orange Paint
You did a BEAUTIFUL job on fabricating this Saw Mill. I've truly enjoyed watching your videos.
Yep, these things will come.
Nice saw wish I had one, thanks nice job showing keep up the good work. Have y’all a great day see ya on the next one.
Cheers. Next mill I'm gonna build will be a swingblade sawmill. Stay tuned!
The blade is in perfect line. Thin as pencil tip all the way across. Dang good job one heck of a fabricater.
That is the ultimate Tool to have around.... Especially when you have nice stacks of logs like you have... Good Stuff ! Cant wait to see this next project come to life...
Cheers man! It will take some time to get the next project done but I will make a video of it asap. Stay tuned! ;)
Motorcycle wheels are the best for for homemade sawmills ‘ once there set up right they will last for ever and no tyre wear’ the steel band wheels with the rubber tires are troublesome ‘ the motor cycle tyre is naturally shaped or rounded to keep the band blade riding to the highest point’ just look how beautifully them wheels are running and not the slightest bit of vibration ‘ just look at the perfect smooth cut’ not only that u can pick them up for next to nothing’ where cast wheels will set u back many dollars or euros ‘ so if u are thinking of building a mill consider this ‘ also they have the large diameter which reduces band breakage’ eg less bending on the larger diameter wheel ‘ also gives you a larger cutting throat ‘ this guy knows what he is doing
Nice info, will keep this in mind since I've been hovering on the idea of making one myself since the cost of buying one is too high where I live. Thanks!
I bet the smell of fresh cut lumber was so much better knowing you built the mill to cut it.
I watched it from beginning when you're welding the frames, this is a true accomplishment. Good job man
Thanks for supporting me by watching this build from the start. I appreciate it.

I’m always impressed with systems that move heavy, unwieldy loads…rolling the log up the ramps…clever. Nice to see how you could adjust the thrust bearings.
you probably dont care at all but does someone know of a trick to log back into an Instagram account..?
I was stupid lost the password. I appreciate any tricks you can give me
@Will Hunter instablaster :)
@Apollo Corbin thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm in the hacking process now.
I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
@Apollo Corbin it did the trick and I actually got access to my account again. Im so happy!
Thank you so much, you really help me out !
@Will Hunter Glad I could help xD
Strong blade you found. Nice job on the video too.
Cheers!
During the milling process, it is better for your productivity to roll the log 90 degrees at a time and performing your cuts. The stops at the side will help keep the log perpendicular so that your cut on the top will be 90 degrees to the previous cut. Once the top is suitably flat and you have a nice straight edge down the previously cut side, roll the log again to make your 3/4 flat, and then turn it 1 last time to make your true square cut lumber. You can also take your lumber that is cut to squared sides and gang cut them (multiple logs at once, as long as they all fit side by side through your cutter head) to make processing the smaller dimensional lumber faster and less time consuming.
Also, after pushing your cutter head through, turn down the speed and let it sit there as you remove your cut boards. Then you only need to raise the blade just enough to clear the log as you pull it back to the start position rather than raising the blade all the way up and lowering it back down to where you want to be after you get back to the front.
Nice heavy duty mill , no shaking around , well done sir. Gas tank from an old lawn mower makes a good water tank , the shut off valve can be just cracked a little so you have a drip onto the band saw
Great mill you have there, but please rig up a bottle of water with a tube and a tap to wet the saw blade, it will be much harder to make things with only 1 hand
Amazing job with the sawmill... 👏👏👏💪
Hello, I'm from Brazil and I found your project interesting. I followed step by step the manufacture and assembly. Congratulations man!
Thank you very much for following the process. I hope you stay tuned for future projects too. Thanks for watching and commenting. ;)
Love the build. The blade is coming off the right guide.
It's not coming off, It's the saw dust.
very nice mill. very quiet, no vibration, great! thanks for showing it to us! like to build one just like it!
Thanks for watching. I'm glad you like it. ;)
bloody brilliant ,works a treat , nice timber too ! now i know what to use my old m/ cycle wheels for .
When your bike has spoke rims I suggest using alloy wheels instead. Mine are a bit wobbly and even eccentric to the hub. Also the spokes seem to get stressed too much. I've got myself alloy motorcycle wheels already for this purpose but I haven't changed them yet. ;)
Donn DIY I do have a set ,thats a good point ,thankyou ,i also have proper sidecar tyres that are quite flat in section , will try them too .
Pretty goooood! No word of a lie that I find it more interesting to watch your home built sawmill saw logs than the modern high tech multi-million dollar sawmill I work at. Everyone suggests a water self drip feed for blade cooling/lubrication and I agree however if you cut in the winter where water can freeze you may want to consider an oil mist like chainsaw bar lube.
I think the main satisfaction this homemade sawmill gives is the fact it shouldn't work as well as it does or not at all since the consumer mind set we're all programmed to tells us we have to buy either the lumber or a factory made sawmill to cut the lumber. I left the full cuts in the video just because I really love to watch how the blade goes through the log, the sawdust flies and the boards form. The blade lube system will come.
Have you considered a kiln drying system for when you need dry lumber right away or do you prefer air drying?
Great Build, looks like you really have a good cutting sawmill there, cuts nice and well thought out. I enjoyed watching you build it. Thanks!
Thank you, and thank you very much for watching the series. Hope you'll stay tuned for future projects too. Cheers!
This Harry
I really like Your home made Sawmill set up
Watched all episodes --FANTASTIC!
Thank you!
I have to say, you are a very impressive guy. Nice job on the mill.
Donn DIY
Excellent machine. Thumbs up dude !!
Cheers!
A truly splendid job, congratulations on a job well done. I am sure you will save yourself a fortune in the long run. Yes, I was also going to suggest an automated water feed in front of the feed side blade guide. Once again, a job well done.
What a great sawmill! Congrats!
Cheers. Thanks for watching!
Good job on the mill. I watched all of your videos. I'm in Canada and operate a WoodMizer. One feature that is a must, is the auto feed which pulls the tower along. You get a more even and smoother cut. Also, we found that leaving the cut wood stacked on top while making another cut, heats up the saw blade and causes binding, I also suspect wear on parts etc.
And one last thing about safety. We have both broken blades and simply had them fly off. It is so dangerous to run any band saw without full shielding. Make sure No One is ever in front or beside your machine when its operating. A flying blade will slice through you or a by stander before you can even see it coming.
I have watched many of your other videos and was as surprised as you were to see your crane mount snap. You are an amazing millwright. If I am not prying to far, may I inquire what type of job you do as a day job? I sure hope you are in a position where you are able to put all your talent to good use.
Overall... Simply Amazing. I look forward to your next addition to your collection of wonderful videos. Thank you so much for sharing. Well done...!!!
If he wont i will ,thankyou for sharing your knowledge ,a full sheild makes complete sense to me and i always suspected stacking creates friction. Cheers
your mill looks good. Home built? Suggest you put a gallon container on the top of it with a hose leading down to your blade. Have an adjustable drip feed so your blade has a constant flow of water.
Thats some nice wood Donn.
Thanks man!
I might be a bit strange, but i find this video very relaxing to watch.
I find it relaxing both while cutting the trees into lumber and watching this and other saw milling videos on RUclips. :D
:) I will start building my mill this winter. Where i live there is a place with hundreds (probably thousands) sunken logs. And i want to bring some of them up and see what i can make of them. The downside is that there will be some sand in them and the blade won´t last long.
Awesome! That sunken material is good one. Especially when it's oak or something similar. You can get some serious value out of them! ;)
I watched it in under a minute with fast right tapping. Don’t feel like I missed a thing. Still, fun to watch
Very well-made seem to cut real good you did a wonderful job
It works well indeed. Thanks for watching!
you get the jackpot prize for that my man. Awesome piece of kit for a homemade sawmill.
u
Very good job, guy... Congratulations.
Nice logs man. And the saw turned out fantastic I watched all the episodes.
Thanks a bunch. You must have the persistence of a beaver to watch all of them. Much obliged!
Donn DIY if i had the money tools and the room I would build one my self
That's a truly nice saw mill you built there sir.
Much obliged!
I Like your Bandsaw project it is First Class, A nice touch of yellow or red Paint on the finished Mill would look just great! I Live in a council house so I am not allowed to weld on a large project like yours. But it was well worth watching Excellent Work. Tom Scotland.
Are you from Ayr Tom, or is that a coincidence?
Fantastic work !!! spectacular !!
Really works nice! Great job! I’m jealous.
Cheers! Thanks for watching!
Awesome. Looking forward to seeing you make your own lumber and using it. Nice work bud.
Греет душу, оптимизмом заряжает, хочется повторить
Congratulations on the video and the work. I'm seriously thinking about buying one of these. It makes it a lot easier, especially here that we have a lot of reforestation trees, this ends up reducing my costs and increasing profits. I really like your Channel and your projects, your inventions, very good everything!
Awesome! I'm so glad you finished it!
It's not finished yet, but it works. I was limited to one hand crank turn/30 mm height adjustment-wise since I haven't made a proper setup yet but got the planks cut and they'll work just fine. Will do the updates in the future. :D
Looking forward ;) Good luck!
Nice load of lumber out of that log, the saw mill work very well.
Very nice machine. Nice work.
Wow, great video! I liked it very much)
Great Craftsmanship Donn!!!!!!
Cheers dude!
that thing is awesome. Would love to have some plans to copy it.
What a nice running mill , sweet.
You are one hard working young man
Beautiful machine, someday I will try to make one of those, it is needed. Give it a coat of paint, it will look great, 😃
Good work, great machine, well done
Thank you and thanks for watching!
Great videos as always, greetings from Sweden 😃
Cheers! Greetings from Estonia. Nice soccer game you had today with Mexico. ;)
Nice Mill !!!
great job! seems to work well. you should be proud! thanks for showing this.
It still need tinkering and add-on's like I blade lube, manual saw head feeding system, proper saw head height adjusting system, paint etc. But it works well nevertheless - definitely worth to build it. Thanks for watching!
Wow ! I've watched the whole build and it looks to be a complete success, it cuts very straight. I've used Wood Mizer mills before and yours is every bit the match for them. like others have said a water drip bottle would be nice and possibly a power feed system? The wood mizer I used had power feed and that made for very consistent cuts.
All of that will come. The power feed and such. I just needed to cut these boards before continuing the upgrades on the sawmill.
Looks pretty darn good. Great build
Beautiful! Maybe a water tank mounted underneath with a windshield wiper washer pump to automatically spritz water on the band blade instead of doing it by hand. But then you would need to mount a battery too. Need another flatbed trailer to put the cut wood on.
i love it , it's a very nice bike . and maded so good
Lovely job just remember to stack the boards with gaps between each👍👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Maravilloso trabajo de ingeniería pero falta un tanque de agua en vez de la botella.te felicito chileno agradecido 👏
I love videos like this. All work, zero talk.
And that cute little crane with remote control made me giggle. That is AWESOME! I bet all neighborhood kids are jealous =)
Workin smooth, this gives me inspiration to start build copy of that....
It's worth it. I've already forgotten the work that went into building it. Now I just enjoy the fruits of my labor. :D
You need to install a water drip system above the saw blade. What you're doing with the bottle of water is extremely dangerous. Your videos are great!
I have to disagree, at 24:11 you give a thumbs up and say pretty good. It is not pretty good, it is excellent! This has got to be one of the finest DIY projects on RUclips.
Hahaa, cheers man. I agree with you. "Pretty good" is just something that stuck. ;)
Nice. That log was huge.
That what she said...
She saw your Turd...
Pretty cool. Very nice concept.
Really enjoyed the video. Be blessed.
Cheers, thanks for watching man!
Great job building this from scratch!
This video is strangely satisfying...
Good job brother
Runs and cuts better than some of the professionally built mills in my opinion.
Helou Donn !!
I'm glad that u finish the sawmill,
I see that the rust started doing on mill, please paint it its a relly beauty.. please paint it 😊👍💪
Keep do the good work ! 😊😉
U
Very nicely done. Looks to be cutting just as good if not better than my lt40 woodmizer
It works pretty good considering the fact it is made out of scrap steel and motorcycle parts. I'm satisfied with the current result, however there's always room for improvement.
Donn DIY nothing wrong with scrap steel. Every Great idea started out with some kind of scrap. Great builds keep them coming
Yes, this is a super good job!!
A angled top and bottom blade wiper with a solvent drip would not be a bad idea in front of your guide roller. Love the videos keep on tweaking I will keep watching. Great job so far
Nice video, it works so good! Thumbs up👍
Nice job Bro
Just at 4:33. It's not a good thing having Aftershokz headset on. Ya git me waving the flies away.
Love the video.
You built that mill? Wow, that's impressive!,
Good job.
Awesome build, hope you do end up selling the plans for this because I would definitely purchase them
Very well done on the Sawmill. I have a question, why wouldn’t you remove every cut board after it is cut? Seems to me you are adding a lot of extra pressure on the blade which is unnecessary?
Amazing build, might I suggest an auto water drip made from a 5 gallon water jug, some tubing, and a small valve? Another item that would be cool is make a chute to catch the saw dust off the end and catch it in a 5 gallon bucket that way u can use the sawdust for mulch or any nuber of uses, I use mine to Flux the lead for casting fishing weights and the occasional bullet.
Jup, blade lube will come.
Nice hell of a job...now that it finished..your log mill needs a sandblast and a good paint job.
Nice job !
With some tiny garden sprayers nozzles,a windshield washer pump or two and a windshield washer tank or two,and a relay, pushbutton, you could make yourself a nice cooling system for the blade.
Doing that by hand is a bit sketchy and dangerous.
I'm working on watercooling brakes on my car lol
one can only assume an auto water drip is in the works yes?
yep i was gonna ask the same, a bit of rubber pipe will direct it and make it run slower
yep and also some guards to fornt and below, little hole on a side to guide sawdust out and away from the mill
Watch the previous videos and read the descriptions, maybe? :)
@daniel i missed it if he covered it in video, but as for description, smart tv;s dont show it at all
Great job building the ban sawmill :) Thats as good as i could have done myself :) LOL Keep up the Great Work, you made it look easy :)
Cheers. Having a sawmill in the house is a nice commodity, makes life much easier when building stuff.
that is one smooooth unit ........... so quiet compared to the rattling Woodmizers that I have seen on other posts...
