    Hey I've got one of those! But I've never even ran it yet! Great to hear all the specs and details. Adjusting for inflation I'd be willing to take $14,000 for it. ;). Nice video Don!

      Yeah, people really liked their GT's back then for sure, that's a ton of money. Thanks for watching Neil, I keep wondering about your 322, waiting for that video to pop up on DDD.🤓

    Im really hoping you can answer a question for me.
    I bought the jd322 several years ago and have barely used it because of constant problems with the nikki carb.
    Im 69 and my kids just wznt me to buy a different, used mower, i am determined to get the 322 mowing.
    Is there a different carb that will fit the yanmar engine?
    Any suggestions are much appreciated, i have found it difficult to find helpful info for the 322.
    Its time to get my yard ready for the grand and great one's to enjoy this summer.
    Thank you
    Esther

      I have owned two 322's now and both needed the carb cleaned, but once that was done, they both ran pretty good. I think if you could find a local shop to clean it for you, I think you would be amazed at how well they run. I am not aware of another carb that can be used on the Yanmar gas engine. Thanks for watching and I hope that helps your sitaution. Also, check out this video I made about cleaning the carb. If necessary, you can go into the jets as well, but this was about as far as I thought I could go with my skills. ruclips.net/video/kGKs1APguRo/видео.html&t=

    Bought a 322 new in 86, you mentioned it started production in 88 thought it had 20 HP ,anyhow payed $7500.00 for it with a 3 bag material collection system powered by stand alone Kawasaki motor.Has 3200hrs. and runs like a clock.Used it for estate use, now retired ,me and tractor, down to one yard to maintain.When I bought it ,dealer told me if I maintain it, it will be the last tractor will buy. He was right!

    • @FloridaDeere
      @FloridaDeere  Год назад

      Yeah, my mistake, tractordata.com has them in there 1988-1992, but their data isn't always correct. I may have a similar if not the same 3 bagger unit. Mine is newer and was allegedly made for larger tractors and is a 3 point hitch set-up, but it has the Honda engine. I've been told the Kawasakis are more heavy duty. I would say that money was a sound investment, well over 3000 hours and still runs great. Thanks for watching Joseph.

      Sometimes Deere can track down the VIN if you give them the engine serial number. If one dealer doesn't want to help, try another, I've heard of people getting the VIN's this way. I hope they help you out and thanks for watching.

      It should work for you without much issue. It may not work perfect, but the fit will be close enough unless you are overly OCD. At least that is my opinion. I have tried them on both curved and flat fender pans and they have worked on both.

    The 322 is by far one of my favorite models that Deere ever produced. They are a joy to run and the Yanmar runs as smooth as a singer sewing machine. I often wish Deere would of also put this engine in the 420 and amped it up to 20HP.

    • @FloridaDeere
      @FloridaDeere  2 года назад

      Yeah I agree, I wished they put a larger gas 3 cylinder in the 445, I mayeb would still have it had they done that. Like the Onans, Kawasakis aren't bad, but not sure either is as nice as a gas Yanmar. Just my opinion I guess after owning two gas Yanmars. Thanks for watching.

    I'm trying to decide if I want to install a 345 tool box on the fender like you did. Toolbox is straight and not curved a bit like the fender. Yours seems to be curved a bit. Did I get the wrong one ?

    • @FloridaDeere
      @FloridaDeere  Год назад

      Yes, I can't remember which one is curved tool box or fender, but they work decent overall if not a perfect fit. The difference is pretty subtle. I love having an extra place to stash stuff, knifes, tape measure, flashlight, gloves, it's a huge benefit. I consider myself a purist, but not a 100% purist. I like to not modify too much, mine still looks like Deere did it. I have a buddy that can't stand if anything is aside from the stock look, he hates my tool boxes on every tractor I've put them on. Thanks for watching.

      89 or 90 I want to say, little over 800 hrs.' on the meter. My main Deere is a 01--455 with little over 700 hrs. I have a 64--110 & RX75 & a 61 Cub Cadet Original , Sold off the Heard when I retired in 2021. I had a doz. or so at the time. Loved messing with them.@@FloridaDeere

      @@dave434 Cool, a low hour 455 sounds awesome, my 445 was a 2001 as well. My current 455 is AWS but needs some work still. Doing the hobby work is fun if you have it set up to be fun and not overwhelming like I too often have mine. My plan is to get down to three and one project tractor, no more than that at a time. It's like a fever in many ways.

    I have 2 of these tractors and they are great. Also had a good friend that had 2 ..My first was a 1990 model with a 50” deck. My second I bought in 2018 from a guy in Buffalo that restored older John Deere’s. It’s a 1988 model. The second has a 48” replacement deck. I definitely think the air flow is better in the 50”. The only down side to this tractor is, it’s hard on front tires due to the extra weight of the engine. I also had a 318 from 1989 that was stolen after 3 months of use.

    I wouldn't say the 322 was unnecessary, the liquid cooled Yanmar engine will outlast 5 air cooled Onans. The 322 was a far superior tractor to the 318. People refuse to pay for quality though. The X758 might be about the same cost adjusting for inflation but the quality of the 322 is superior. They don't make quality like this anymore.

    • @FloridaDeere
      @FloridaDeere  2 года назад

      I can't say whether the X758's are equivalent quality or not, or the older X series, nto sure, I loved my 445 when I had it and had it had a larger 3 Cylinder Yanmar, like the 322, I might still have it. I say unnecessary, only because there were sort of four slots in the lineup right, two base models, to premium models, each with a gas, each with a diesel. The 322 is a second gas premium. But I agree with you, almost every Onan I come across is tired and worn out and smoking. I currently have two 322's and they both run like a top, smooth and have excellent and even compression. Both engines will run for decades, many decades with proper maintenance, not something an Onan can do, even as good as the Onan's were. Thanks for watching.

    Will a 322 gas Yanmar engine bolt right into a 332?

    • @FloridaDeere
      @FloridaDeere  Год назад +1

      In theory, it should as I believe they are the same exact block and basically the head and fuel systems are different, other than that, they are nearly identical. But I would check that question on a forum, there are a lot wiser folks to be found than me. Thanks for watching.
