How Long Does it Take to Grind a Large Stump?
People often ask about stump grinding and folks ask about pricing for doing such a service. While I don't go over pricing here, I can help you gauge how long a job may take and therefore, you can use that info in developing a reasonable and fair price for your service. Hope this helps.

John Deere 425 445 455 54 Deck Rebuild (Part 2 of 3)

Okay, so I just picked up the deck shell today from my powdercoat guy, Richard in Orange Park, FL. This is actually NOT an install video, but rather an overview since I already had it installed. Pretty straightforward, if not easy. It functions much better as properly equipped here rather than using the on-board hydraulic couplers which was a bust. I do have another video when it was installed in that arrangement, if you care to see how NOT to do it.
Subcompact Tractors for Subcompact Jobs (John Deere 1023E 1025R)
Просмотров 8936 месяцев назад
Lots of people ask how big an attachment they can fit on these tractors. I think that defeats the purpose of having a little tractor. These are the jobs they accel in, no bigger tractors could have pulled this job off and the 1 series is far better than a garden tractor with a loader, as the ergonomics of the 1 series is superior to garden tractors for "real tractor" work.

    Really late to the comments for this video, but I have the exact 3 bag mcs except mine has the Kawasaki. Is there a strut or something to help keep the top cover of the mcs up whilst you empty the bags? Ive checked online forums, nothing. I’ve checked the parts catalog, didn’t see anything, but it is incredibly inconvenient to hold up the top and try and wrestle out the grass bags. Is it poor design, or am I missing something? Wondering if you had some experience you could share. Thanks!

    I have a 2013 F150 DHTP 5.0L and it's the 8ft with supercab white. I've got over 203k miles on it and it's amazing. I built myself a drawer system to have my tools inside it with an aluminum ARE cap on the top, that basically equates to about 1000lbs of weight in the back and the truck doesn't even notice that stuff is back there. I was building a deck and put a substantial amount of weight in the back consisting of many 2x8s and the truck didn't notice them back there in the bed.

      Haha, yes, it is a bit like a cult, but a good one if such a thing exists. And you ain't lying either, it's a steep learning curve. The dealer sends you out with little to no training. They rarely mention ballast, which is critically important. Rollovers kill more people than any other issue on tractors and are often easily avoided. But having said all that, they are a force multipler for sure, making it possible to get unreal amounts of work done with little effort, so they come with a positive as well. You just have to mitigate the negatives. Thanks for subing and watching, I hope to see you around. They have a good Facebook group too with the 1023/1025 guys as well, lots of good guys on there.

      So the double pulley runs an additional belt that turns the fan/propeller in the leaf collector unit you can add. The power flow is the mechanism that mounts to the end of the deck and then a chute goes/leads to a bagging unit for collection. It's a pretty efficient system. Years ago I bought a used John Deere STX38 lawn tractor for $300(best $300 I invested) but had some repairs over the the years until last year when I believe the engine head gasket failed(not a mechanic). I looked into repairing it(basically getting a new engine) and didn't like the price. So I started looking for a new lawn tractor. Talked to my dad and he told me my uncle was selling his John Deere GT 235 for $1500. In the process of buying right now. I don't mind push mowing my lawn but its so much easier to get a lawn tractor. Good to know its a better lawn mower. PS my dad on his farm has not only 2 JD 425's but also a JD 650, JD 4720 and a JD 5410. He has a tractor for each barn, garage or shed, lol.

    I think it's an informative video, for sure. I just don't think anything in the current Deere lineup shown compares to the older 316/318/420/430. The frames aren't even close to as overbuilt today, and you got way more metal for your money, I think. Today's machines are just so filled with plastic everywhere and gimmicky logos and stickers meant to impress people walking by the machine by calling out anything that could be considered a feature, like "hydraulic lift", or "fuel injection". The newer multi-piece fender decks rot at the joints where the older single piece decks couldn't. I think a lot of this "downgrade" is as much about catering to a less mechanically capable consumer as it is trying to hit a bigger customer base with lower price points. Owner's manuals used to tell you how to set valve lash; now they have to install circuits that keep people from backing over their kids with the deck going. I completely agree with just going to a 1-series SCUT vs a high x700. Jm2c from an old small hold farmer. 👍🏻

    • @FloridaDeere
      @FloridaDeere 17 дней назад

      Yeah, I think they aren't as overbuilt as they were, I think that is designed engineering to a certain extent, meaning they realized at one time, they were over built and didn't need to be. But you are right about the focus of quality and them trying to reach a different consumer. Many of these used to be built as capital products as opposed to throw away consumer products. I still think John Deere builds a good product, but if they are not careful, they are close to building stuff in which people will start looking elsewhere for replacements. Back in the day, they didn't have their "consumer lines" like they now sell at HD and Lowes. Yes the company got more sales, but I think these products tarnish their name a bit. I'm a purist too to a certain extent. I mean Porsche used to sell sports cars, now they sell sedans and SUV's, it's just weird. These products I guess allow them to make more money and stay in business, but to me, it waters down the brand a little. Thanks for watching.

It always seems in Florida, this stuff is cheaper, but it's also more rare and less buyers willing to pay the large amounts of money. They can be a few different things. The first thing I would do is change the fluid if you haven't yet. That fixes a great number of issues with hydraulic machines. The second thing I would do or if you already have done the fluid is check the slop in the linkage for the hydro levers. Remember these tractors are now quite old and may have a fair amount of wear and tear on them. I'm assuming you have a 300 series tractor with the hand controll lever?

    Can you do a video showing your current deere collection? Seems like you got rid of most of your vintage stuff

    • @FloridaDeere
      @FloridaDeere Месяц назад

      I might can do that, and you're right I did, or in another way of putting it, I got rid of most of my tractors that didn't run😂. I still have the 1023E of course, as well as the 322, 455 and a 140 and 316. The last two are being sold as soon as I get a chance to finish them up and let them go. And I keep thinking of trying to trade out my 322 for a 332 to keep all my tractors with the same fuel type, just figure that will make things easier, but the opportunity has presented itself. And I will be looking for deals in the future, but a few years ago, I let things get out of controls and as my kids age and do more things, I find myself with less time as well. But in less than 5 years, I'll go from 3 kids at the house to 1, so that may make a difference as well. Thanks for watching.

    Drain the fluid through the "drain" plug at the end of the screen housing b4 draining the side plug thata way you can drain into a 5 gallon pail, much less of a mess.

    Hi Great idea. I wonder of you could use both springs and rubber bumpers. Do you have any experience with 1023e rear lift arm issues? Mind raise random heights. Lower fine? Thnx. David

    • @FloridaDeere
      @FloridaDeere Месяц назад

      Raise random heights, like something beyond your control? I mean they should raise at a rate and speed you like and lower the same. Of course the lowering is simple gravity as it drops, there is not any hydraulic force to push it down, unlike going up. Also, you can adjust the speed at which it raises and lower by adjusting th eknob under the seat. If any of this is stuff you already know, I apologize. Thanks for watching.

    • @davidmosscrop2374
      @davidmosscrop2374 Месяц назад

      @@FloridaDeere what I mean by random heights is one time using the lever I raise it and it suddenly stops raising at 2”, after lowering, next raises 1”, repeat 6”, repeat May be complete lift. Once the lifting stops the only way to get more lift (maybe) is to lower all the way and try lifting again. I did notice today that over a period of a few hours my loader lowered itself? Thanks for your assistance with this. Cheers

    Hey!! Nice to hear from someone who lived in Maine. My home is about 10 miles from Maine. I was just talking with my wife about our first date at the Presqu’île Maine fair 46 years ago. This state is part of our culture. And….manny in Canada are Red Sox Nations Citizens.

      @FloridaDeere Месяц назад

      Yeah, sadly, we didn't live up there longer, those were some of my formative years, age 4-10, then to Florida as a Navy brat, been here ever since and truthfully I belong in the mountains of North Carolina or Virgina, probably only place I could move my Florida-born wife if I can even get her there, maybe we need to live in different states. 🤣 She can stay here and melt and I can enjoy a state with real seasons.😎

    Fringing snow and ice and freezing rain and cold is hard on machines. I have a 2025 for snow a woodlot. I don’t do work for others except to help a buddy in a bind. I imagine heat and humidity is a challenge in Florida.

    • @FloridaDeere
      @FloridaDeere Месяц назад

      Yep my experience in Maine was an a kid, I'd assume that would be similar to Canada, but I was young enough to enjoy the snow and not have the "work it" so to speak. Our winters are nice, but honestly, I hate doing any work outside from May until November, it's terrible but in a diffferent way. I dislike being soaking wet, and if you stay outside any length of time, you'll go through several outfit changes to stay dry. Problem is, I love working outside.

    Up here in Canada, many with small tractors do snow removal. It was a challenge in the past for them to get paid in spring because customers would argue on various things or not pay at all. It’s different now. They give you a price for the job in the fall and expect $$ before the first snow.

    • @FloridaDeere
      @FloridaDeere Месяц назад

      Oh wow, that's opposite of what I have seem , getting paid before the job I mean. I guess I have been lucky in the sense of never having an issue getting paid. I would love to make money doing snow removal...says me from Florida never having had removed snow😂. Thanks for watching.

      That's a good plan, I'll have to try that on the next one, as this has been through two more owners since. I guy I bought it for, like went and retreived it for, had to do a few more clean outs and he got it working good and has since sold it I believe. Thanks for watching.
