To be fair, it was not in this condition when I bought it, it had a transmission that leaked like crazy, so I had to source a center diff unit from a friend and I swapped out the axles. I also replaced a lot of the four wheel steering parts, some because I needed too and some because while I was there, I figured the other parts were also 26 years old so why not. All and all, I probably have $2500 with the deck rehab, maybe even a little more. Thanks for watching.
That's a great 455! I didn't even realize they were a diesel tractor. I like that they have all those heavy-duty features in that size chassis. Nice video!
I wouldn't mind upgrading to a 455 over my current 430.. but to get everything I have currently would cost an arm and a leg. I have 44 Loader, 60" deck, 47 snow blower, 3-point hydraulic tiller (which could be made to work on 455). I also like having high and low range. Nice rig ya have there!! I wanna know how the 455 got 2 more horsepower outta the same engine the 430 has.
Yeah, that is the killer, the switch up when you are invested as you are in another platform. Liquidating everything and maybe worse yet, finding all the items would take big money and also lots of time. Thanks for watching.
I also wonder about these horsepower ratings. I think it's determined more or less by the label on the hood. There certainly is no SAE information provided that I've seen.
@@Georgiagreen317 I think if anything they under-rate smaller tractors these days to try to get under the newer requirements. As far as ones this old, not sure. I believe the 455 has 22 hp, that's well known, but I also believe it has 18hp for the PTO.
Well I think a 455 would be a step down from my 430! Sure the foot controls are convenient but the size, sound and overall capability of the 430 is impressive. It looks sounds and drives like a tractor. I did consider the 455 while deciding but with enough weight and the right tires the 430 is unstoppable, mine has the 44 loader too with the factory 3Pt.
I think we'll agree to disagree. I think the geometry of the front heavy 430 makes loader work more difficult and the basic ergonomics of the 4X5 is far better than the 4X0 series, but that may be personal preference. The 430 is about 200 pounds heavier, no argument there.
@@FloridaDeere My X748 w/45 loader has way better ergonomics and steering compared to the 430. It’s cumbersome switching between the two but that 430 is so fun, yes very beefy. I’ll buy a 455 and get back to you 😂!
I wish I could find a 455 for 1900 that’s in that good of shape I paid $2300 for my 425 but it is in mint shape with only 425 hours on it

Fine machine…👍. We have a 2 wheel drive, 2 wheel steer X750 diesel with 60” deck.
Thanks, yep the X750 is the new version of the 455 with lots of improvements no doubt. Thanks for watching.

Thanks man, the current one would be the X750, or really the X754 because it's AWS. Thanks for watching.
Very nice!! Hope to get a 455 one of these days.
Yes, it took me a long time to find a decent one and then I still had to do some work. Thanks for watching and good luck.
Man that’s a beautiful machine I have a 425 and 445 but I want a 455 so bad!
I too, had both a 425 and a 445 before I got this 455. The 445 as a long-termer for me, had it about 6 years.
