I'm about to switch the rear on my X485 as well. It has almost the same issues minus the leaks. Not a fun job! In my experience those front tires won't hold air after being removed and put back on...
Will it be done by Friday or in process? I'd like to see the project. Also, does it involve an AWS unit one or the other? I'm curious. What do you think about the tire situation? And what's that weird silver stuff?🤣. I hope to see you guys Friday for that roof rack. Thanks for watching Luke.
Yeah, after I made the video, I was considering tubes as well, but they'd be about $20 each or at least above $15. Still a third of the price of new tires, so still cheaper. Thanks for watching. You have any clue as to what the silver stuff is?
Man, I apologize for the answer, but I have no clue, he took that thing off before my buddy picked it up. I don't believe it's a Deere part, I believe it's a off brand one or one the PO custom made for himself. I'm sorry i couldn't be more helpful. Thanks for watching.
It’s probably a galvanized paint. Looks like he went over the machine and coated any exposed raw metal. Looks prevalent in areas where there was interference and factory paint removed as a result. Likely done as a preventative measure to keep those areas from going the same direction as the original sheet metal. Coastal machines take a beating from oxidation.
It was slightly more coastal than where I live, but not right on the coast. I got tubes for those tires, for $23, I think that was a great medium-term measure. Thanks for watching.
It looks like the vent cover on top of the transaxle was missing, causing it to leak. I'm curious why you converted back to a regular steer tractor; I just picked up a 425 AWS and didn't know if it had issues.
I keep it AWS, I switched the axles and resinstalled a "new to me" center diff with those axles. I think I have the switch over in the next couple of videos after that one. Thanks for watching.
Yeah, that's not too bad, but I ended up getting two tubes for $23 from Walmart. I generally don't liek doing the tube thing, but it's a pretty big savings and these tubes will probably be big enough to easily install I figure. Thanks for watching.

Tube the tires and fill with windshield fluid.

Do you know where I can get the trailer hitch that attaches to the front frame as seen in the beginning of your video? Thanks for posting the video!
