GT-R for track day. 911 Turbo for Grand Touring with speed and comfort. R8 V10 + for luxury, style, and attention grabbing. Pick which one is best based on that.
@XNarutoX67 The Nissan GT-R is one of the best. 0-60 in 3.2 seconds 1/4 mile in 11.6 seconds @120 MPH Top speed 195 MPH Nurburgring lap time 7:24 The Nissan GT-R is one of the best supercars for its price
I want to like the GTR but I can't get over how ugly it is. Well, maybe ugly is a strong word. Boring. It doesn't look like a supercar. More like a brick.
@Zyphon400 I dont this you get my point. In the Top Gear review I was referring to, Clarkson said the R8 V10 was much faster and he was able to go much quicker in it. But around the track in the hands of a skilled driver, the ZR1 was a lot quicker. I suppose its the driver that matters at the end of the day but I do think Sutcliffe isnt a competent enough driver (no offence) to get the most out of these cars.
What does it matter about speed. Its about quality. You're not just going to buy a car so you can race, and they were litteraly apart by a second. That matters why?
@Scalibq: in fact, the first 4WD electronically controlled with active diff was the Porsche 959 in 1982 but Nisan and Mitsubishi made the first non-expensive ones!
GT-R for life! Been a fan Since the GT-R 32.... and the 35 is outstanding. It's not the most powered ... nor the most expensive.. it's just a marvelous masterpiece of technology.
@AutoFanBoy i must admit, the gt-r is a very good grand tourer. Its comfortable,it's controllable, and it's practical like what a grand tourer should be.But for certain people that only use their sportscar on weekends,i would recommend the R8,as it's more fun to drive, the engine sound creates adrenaline.I live in a place with lots of bad roads,so i only use them for weekend,so i choose the R8.
GTR has the best race pedigree of all these cars. But the Audi r8 is the best looking, has the best quality interior and sounds awesome. The Porsche on the other hand is undoubtedly brilliant. It looks so cute!
@thepunisheruae Im NOT a gtr hater but pay close attention at the top gear video when Jeremy announces the lap time for the Audi R8. He remarks: "That was sort of a dampish lap!" He then announces the time of the zr1 which is 1:20.4. That's 7/10ths of a second slower on a dampish lap. If you go to the drag race portion of that video, you will notice that it was mostly sunny, lol!
Back when a gtr was reasonably priced. Now a days turbo s, and r8 v10 are ahead of the gtr. Nissan refuses to update the gtr. But still updates the price. 50k is a lot of money for literally nothing new in the current year model.
I love competition between super-car companies... the consumer gets more overall quality, speed and agility in their car. Not to mention awesome RUclips videos. BTW they should remake this video using the new Porsche 911 G2RS which has 650 HP and can go 0-62 mph in 3.2 seconds...
@AutoFanBoy You confused the Turbo and the GT2. The Turbo has AWD and 4 seats, the GT2 is a RWD, 2-seater with a more powerful version of the Turbo's engine (essentially a GT3 with more power).
The GTR is such an amazing achievement of engineering that he was PLEASANTLY surprised when the 911 turbo was only 0.3 seconds slower (at twice the cost, of course). .. and I am and will always be a Porsche fan.
I had a go in this model Porsche at the weekend and the surge of acceleration is just astonishing but considering the price the GTR is just incredible. In fact even if it was the same price it would look like a good deal.
Having driven the GTR,and having owned 4 Porsches over the years, a 83 930 Turbo, 88 RUF turbo Cab, 89 964 C4 cab, 90 C2, I'd buy the GTR if I planned to keep it for any length of time. There is no argument that since Carlos Ghosn has been CEO of Nissan, his involvement has helped produce one the worlds great performance cars, and why anybody would want to tune further is a bit of a drop kick in my opinion. The GTR is an amazing hand built low volume production car and will continue to evolve.
The thing is, different ppl buy cars for different reasons, and others don't understand why ppl buy certain cars. All 3 cars in this video are great, they are carefully made, beautifully crafted and they perform well. The origin of their backgrounds make them what they are, what interiors/exteriors they can have, etc etc. SO as consumers, we have to appreciate these three great car makers for allowing us to have choices to buy whatever we want...only if tthe price was lower for all 3 lol..
I'd always prefare a Porsche, due to its perfect engineered Technology and outstanding Quality. The normal "Turbo" is by the way the consciously Comforable one, the "Turbo S" must be the choice for the Race track - and for the comparison vs GTRs because of its defined purpose.
good video Porsche,Corvette ,mustang, etc,,et al none can drive over that course without bouncing the driver to bits. The Gtr makes it look easy. The Benchmark
I've driven the 997 Turbo, R8 4.2 and a 2010 GT-R. I work at a Porsche dealership so I am lucky enough to have spent time in all of them. The Turbo is my favorite, easily. The GT-R is my second choice, it's pretty fast but lacks the level of driver involvement and feel that the 911 has, still a pretty cool car. The R8 4.2 is obviously way slower than either but it seemed to handle very well, I didnt really get a chance to drive it like the other two though. I'm sure the V10 is a different beast.
And I appreciate your compliments. All words are terms and subsequently they have meaning. There is a reason why there is a term for exotic and a term for super car. Super car deals with performance. A car can be fast and not an Exotic (rare, super expensive, elitist etc.). An Exotic can be rare/elitist etc. and not be fast (on a track or in a straight line). Sometimes they are both (Superexotic). Your beliefs do not change reality - the GTR is a Super Car - as per many many industry experts.
@MrBabirusa I write very specifically about this; Objectivity vs. Subjectivity. Objectivity is easy - this car is this fast to 60 MPH vs another car which is slower. Subjectivity is tricky - its more fun to drive, better, better looking etc. The problem with subjectivity is that I can say that the Toyoto Prius is the better driving, best looking car compared to anything in the world - and since its my opinion - it can't be argued. This is why I prefer to stay as objective as possible. Peace.
Nice video I new the GTR was gonna win! I mean cmon it's the brother of the Legends Skyline R32 R33 R34 . But the true King is the Skyline R34 GT-R the Original Godzilla and hold the Crown and a God of Tuners!
@SilentNinja1774 what bulb3145 said. it's supposed to be really fuel efficient and reliable, so you wont have to worry about fixing it up every couple of months. its made so that you can take drive it to work and back everyday with no problems.
interesting tidbits, i'm pretty sure that the r8 can be equipped with carbon ceramic breaks, which would probably bump up its time, and they were all on a wet track, which could affect times as well
@BumbleBeest9000 I'm not mad, I'm honest. I have undying respect for the capabilities of both the GT-R and Turbo. I do maintain, though, that the R8 looks and feels the most like a proper supercar thanks to its award-worthy looks, visible engine, manual gearbox and 30-70 RWD bias. If I could afford an R8, I would buy it, even if I could save 85k with the GT-R. The gearbox seals the deal for me: I'd rather get to work 0.9 seconds slower but have the satisfaction of changing gear myself.
The 997 would be my choice. Most pure of the bunch. I haven't driven the Audi but have been lucky enough to have been behind the wheel of the GTR and Turbo. Very impressive cars, regardless of price.
@Zyphon400 Or not? the turbo has been clocked doing 0-60 in 2.7 secs, its got carbon ceramic brakes, it has all the technology porsche could cram into it, it mashed the 458 italia in a drag race too? The gtr wouldnt stand a chance around a power circuit? maybe on a twisty, slow one though since its the best car around corners atm IMO.
Maybe I'm crazy but when I first saw a GTR in person, I was impressed. Its a striking car to me. As far as the "Wow" factor, I would much rather have someone in a Porsche or Ferrari say "Wow" after I passed them in a GTR. You can call it what you want but the GTR beats Porsche and Ferrari. Also the real "Wow" factor should come in behind the wheel:)
Please, the test with the Turbo S. It means nothing to compar the GT-R and the R8 V10 against a Porsche (even the Turbo) in the version non sport! It is the wrong test again !

The Porsche is extremely fast but is nearly 50 years old and has been showed up by a Datsun. The R8 is the best looking, best sounding, and coolest (Iron Man) car of the bunch. It may not be the fastest, but it is the most slidey and fun to drive.
i said that because the dude was just admiring the car and said he loved it and you reply to him like I OWN ONE all in caps, and then when i went to your page theres uploads from only a year ago of you some like 10 year old HAHA, so i called you out and now im intrested in seeing it, not some fake ass picture uploads.
@jcpturbo00 The Gumpert Apollo managed a 7:11 time on the Nürburgring and the GT2 RS managed a 7:18. They are much faster than the GTR. And when driven by the same driver, the GT2 and the GT-R both did a 7:38 and the 911 Turbo wasn't far behind.
@Scudeyyy we'll never know... just because hes a journalist doesn't mean he can't be an excelent driver. And my opinion is that if one drives both cars (and is well used to them) , and one is faster.. it will be faster with who else drives it.
Only wish Nissan would incorporate a bit more style into the next GTR, partiularly the cabin . Hope it would take some cues from the last 300ZX turbo , which was way ahead of comparable europeans in both style and performance back then. It still has bags of character and looks menacing from the rear view mirror.
@HENRYHOBBS1 Porsche doesn't hate Nissan, because at the end of the day it's still a Nissan and the majority of Porsche owners love those cars and don't need to take corners as fast as possible.
@marshknute true true, but when u look at a price hmmm... 50K Nissan or a 110K Porche or a almost 200K Audi, its kinda obvious that the nissan is the better car when u take price into consideration :)
@5Bullet5 maybe you should drive a porsche. BTW, the turbo is an all wheel drive, which is understeering. even a gt2 is going to understeer, as long as you don´t push it to it´s limit. most cars have an understeering setup, it´s kind of protection for the typical unskilled drivers. ;)
So you shouldn't have your car constantly adjust power to each wheel as it drives for better grip? And it also shouldn't adjust the suspension as you go around a corner? So would you say that ABS is for wimps?
Haha exactly what i think my friend, no one who owns such a car goes and comments in all caps letting people know they have it... I requested a proof video!
@vitessemeister I hear what you're saying but my 911 C4S is a wonderful daily driver. The R8 is a lot softer when you want to get after it. I liked the R8 when I drove it but it is definitely not a 911, plus you have virtually no extra space. I'd take a 911 over an R8 for touring any day. Just my 2 cents though.
Oh god, that comeback was so amazing, what will I ever do with myself now?! Anything else now? Wait, wait, wait, anything that makes sense or is relevant? No? Ok.
@FLFCH You're right in a way- the GTR was made so that a grandma can get out of driving one and feel like and produce laptimes like Michael Schumacher. Whereas the Turbo or GT2 takes actual driver skill. However the GTR may just be quicker as it was made specifically for track work, not for sounding good or feeling special
i guess you re right, its all about the $. when it comes down to cutting cost, as an audi driver myself, i have to admit there is room for performance.
@Mattixxg Just because it outperformed the 911 it doesn't automatically mean that it's more technically advanced. And I'm speaking about the Nissan brand as such. The brand is not to compare with Porsche. I'm not saying that the GTR is not to compare with Porsche.
Each car has its own special appeals. Prestige, Looks and Speed. Every car Handled well as seen in the video driven by the jolly fella. They can't afford an F1 driver to run the test so I guess we'd have to settle with him.
@SPHINX144 sticks are for real lovers of driving, but the truth is that the flappy paddle is quicker, this is a fact. also the other 2 were in flappy paddle
@SoulvexUK We don't even have the chance to drive these car, so don't comment the way you just did. Besides they are not the same cars, thus the speed they handled turning in and going out a corner is TOTALLY different, thus the difference in "racing lines" , besides the driver is trying to put a fast lap for each car. NOT trying to use the fastest "racing line" .
Facts don't lie! The gtr is the faster track weapon, full stop. More available power where it matters, easier to controll at the limit, more efficient! For me personally,I prefer something thats a little bit wild at the limit! Adds exitement to the overall drive in my opinion.the gt3rs isn't the best best for no reason! Rear wheel drive, naturally aspirated, lightness! Recipe for perfection I'd say!4 wheel drive like theses numbs things a little if u ask me
a porsche 911 is a legendary car. A GTR is a car that will be replaced by another newer model that will be called "GTXWRS" etc. It doesn't matter if it is cheaper, faster or anything else. You get what you pay for!
FINALLY you take caps lock off... I just wanted to see your Porsche and what you did to it, i don't get why your so secretive and defense about everything LOL.
this doesn't proof that 911 is slower than GTR testing with one driver, obviously GTR was his favorite out of 3, cause u can see him trying to make this car #1.. This is a mental game, he might of not realize it but when u drive your "favorite car" u tend to do try harder, u enjoy it. and do the fastest time lap.
Actually, maintenance and repairs for the Porsche and Audi are much cheaper than you'd expect out of a supercar. I would say the GT-R's costs are right up there.
@HENRYHOBBS1 like i said, it didnt ruin the 911. both are amazing cars, but i'd still prefer the porsche, because unlike the GT-R it has kind of a spirit. it speaks to you, it demands a lot of the driver, if you know what i mean. this means more to me than a car that is about 2 seconds faster on the track
Why did you reply with three separate comments, its just hard to see a guy so in tune with youtube and playing runescape owning a porsche but now i see.. you ment a 2002 model, decent i suppose. had to call it out just because you were trying to show off awkwardly to that dudes comment!
oh man dont say that... the GTR was meant to be a cheap supercar alternative ever since its launch in 2007. it's SO much more expensive now because of the fame and great reception received since then.
tbh its cute that nissan came out with a supercar, but unless you've driven the race car that decades of perfect engineering have manifested in dont comment (911). The only reason the nissan had such a good time in comparison was due to the bumps and how soft the suspension is. Also, its front engine favors a wet surface due to the mid and rear engines which over steer on the r8 and 911. And good fight dealing with the new turbo 0-60mph=2.7sec.pm me if ud like to debate:) love talking cars..
GTR's damper and anti roll bar is stiffest of the 3, PDCC on Porsche won't help pitching under braking and hard acceleration. Apply too much throttle on a Porsche, you may gain some push coz the car pitch all the way up and under braking, the Turbo lay all the way down. This action will gain grip on specific wheels but feels bulk and react slower also lost the balance of grip. Audi R8 is the worst, worst than its big bro RS7. At least RS7 is faster in straight line dig start compare to its class. GTR is a better and smarter car of the 3.
There is no way that one car has more race history than an entire car company. I wouldn't doubt that the GT-R has a lot of race history, but Porsche is one of the highest and most valued racers in history... The GT-R may have a lot of history, but i very seriously doubt it is more than Porsche. Probably more than Audi, but not Porsche.
@Scalibq i am a nissan guy so i do know about nissans history i also own two z series cars what i mean is nissan just made the first high end car this is the only one that you can compare with all those high end cars (porsche lambo ferrari etc) and what i said is that they doing very GOOD!!!!
@AutoFanBoy All 911's are compromised by their rear-mounted engine. The new Cayman S does 0-60 in 4.5 seconds and corners much better than any 911. Porsche won't admit that it is as good as the Carrera S, so they lied about its 0-60 times on their website (they say it will only do it in 4.9). They need to overhaul the Cayman and give it a 500 hp engine and a slightly longer wheelbase for better stability. Oh, and hire some Alfa Romeo designers to do the styling!
thanks for your maturity, not flipping out on me lol. well a lot of people don't like Porsches because..... well i don't know, i have a Cayenne and people on the street constantly road rage me and want to race and are just dicks, maybe its the case with these reviews, if you look at the stats you can see that the Turbo S is a faster car, personally i think it has a lot more passion, class, prestige, and fun behind it. thats my opinion though
@Mattixxg Old boring story. Every Porsche built after the 50's has nothing, absolutely NOTHING to do with a Beetle (not Bettle as you wrote ...). And the 50 years after, Porsche has established itself as one of the most respected, reputable, prestigious and most technically advanced sports car builder in the world. Something Datsun greatly lacks. So no, it's not me who is an "ignorant poster", it's you.
Half the price, faster around the circuit, more comfortable and...with a proper boot. MY GOD, WHAT A CAR!
GT-R for track day.
911 Turbo for Grand Touring with speed and comfort.
R8 V10 + for luxury, style, and attention grabbing.
Pick which one is best based on that.
yeah
I like the porsche the most
@XNarutoX67 The Nissan GT-R is one of the best.
0-60 in 3.2 seconds
1/4 mile in 11.6 seconds @120 MPH
Top speed 195 MPH
Nurburgring lap time 7:24
The Nissan GT-R is one of the best supercars for its price
I don't have to think it at all GODGILLA for sure !!
WhiteLion2013 GODZILLA not GODGILLA
Furgil Pinas It doesn't fucking matters .......GODGILLA OR GODZILLA what it does matters is that he's FUCKING AWESOME !!
WhiteLion2013 -_-
Dude, I have respect for the GTR now. For such a smaller engine, it kicks ass.
I want to like the GTR but I can't get over how ugly it is. Well, maybe ugly is a strong word. Boring. It doesn't look like a supercar. More like a brick.
I want to like your comment but you are too ugly and your comment is too boring. You do look like a brick.
@Zyphon400 I dont this you get my point. In the Top Gear review I was referring to, Clarkson said the R8 V10 was much faster and he was able to go much quicker in it. +Alex Le lambo is much better than audi
My nigga ;)
Time flies. All very evolved cars today a decade and a half on.
R8 is seriously one of the worst sport cars ever made
Why because its not fast? Have fun owning a gtr for 2 years while the audi lasts a life time.
Ok list one reason an audi r8 is shit.
Youssef 32000 look at the lap times, it's clearly slower than all the same class rivals, despite being not bad on the paper
What does it matter about speed. Its about quality. You're not just going to buy a car so you can race, and they were litteraly apart by a second. That matters why?
You can't go wrong with German engineering. I'd rather have a quality car thats fun to ride and looks good rather than a plastic pocket rocket.
unbiased driver? what the fuck are you talking about? this is a professional review. it's as legit as it gets.
He rode that nissan the hardest then babies the other two! Someones takin' the piss!
Exactly!

The flappy paddle gear box maybe better in terms of lap times but for pure fun factor i'll take a 6 speed manual anytime of the day!
GTR has the best race pedigree of all these cars. But the Audi r8 is the best looking, has the best quality interior and sounds awesome. The Porsche on the other hand is undoubtedly brilliant. It looks so cute!

If you need to make a car that is already twice as expensive as a GTR even more expensive to be comparable to a GTR, the test really doesn't matter.
Nice versus.

It still has bags of character and looks menacing from the rear view mirror.
for an even and proper comparison , the R8 should have been equipped with both optional ceramic brakes , and pedal shift ...all of em are brilliant
@HENRYHOBBS1 Porsche doesn't hate Nissan, because at the end of the day it's still a Nissan and the majority of Porsche owners love those cars and don't need to take corners as fast as possible.
@marshknute
true true, but when u look at a price hmmm... 50K Nissan or a 110K Porche or a almost 200K Audi, its kinda obvious that the nissan is the better car when u take price into consideration :)
@5Bullet5
maybe you should drive a porsche.
I can't deny the GTR is awesome, but even at twice the price, I'd take the 911 Turbo.
@jakeboi i agree but the thing is that the porsches headlights and the exterior design doesnt really impress me that much
Haha exactly what i think my friend, no one who owns such a car goes and comments in all caps letting people know they have it... I requested a proof video!
the difference is not much, so it depends on the driver not the car. they should test them at a straight line.
@vitessemeister
I hear what you're saying but my 911 C4S is a wonderful daily driver.
No? Ok.
is is ALWAYS raining in the UK ..seems the test tracks are ALWAYS wet
Well that is you.. You wanna look like Lilo.. We respect that..
GT-R has AMAZING traction, but I'd choose the R8, it is just amazing car.
I love all these cars -how can you hate any of them , ever driven one ?
i guess you re right, its all about the $. when it comes down to cutting cost, as an audi driver myself, i have to admit there is room for performance.
@princeofallchickens I like on the other hand saying "I drive a shelby 427 Cobra" hahahaaaa
Some decent driving i gotta say. The guy looked sharp in the GTR. Restepc
btw, is this the new 2012 GT-R? or the older model?
Nissan GTR for sure~~ Insane acceleration, twin turbo, V6~~ It provide better grip and less drag~ |
Agree. And the price makes a supercar affordable for normal people.
@265008888 agreed... and they should have runned the course not for just one lap, but say 20 laps and see which car comes out winner at the end.
Ahh GT-R form following function at its finest.
oh man dont say that... the GTR was meant to be a cheap supercar alternative ever since its launch in 2007. it's SO much more expensive now because of the fame and great reception received since then.
@latbeast Mostly,its called powersliding.
Drifting takes a wider angle the takes up too much speed.
tbh its cute that nissan came out with a supercar, but unless you've driven the race car that decades of perfect engineering have manifested in dont comment (911).
The GTR is a pig and looks like a brick
The GTR looks like a brick yet have better aerodynamic than that Frog style 911.
NISMO N ATTACK 東瀛戰神 the engineers at Nissan are lazy fucks
Hariz Hafi Lololol I guess you're dumb enough to say that.
Hariz Hafi I think your reply fit in describing yourself.
By the first turning, I'll say, ey bro, the Asian GT-R over there has the best turn.
thanks for your maturity, not flipping out on me lol. well a lot of people don't like Porsches because..... well i don't know, i have a Cayenne and people on the street constantly road rage me and want to race and are just dicks, maybe its the case with these reviews, if you look at the stats you can see that the Turbo S is a faster car, personally i think it has a lot more passion, class, prestige, and fun behind it. thats my opinion though
The Zr1 didnt even make the cut hahahaahaha!!
