Nice review. I agree on thumb support! I have it on both my Q3's now. I also LOVE the RRS L-Bracket grip that is just amazing. Very comfortable, open access on bottom, arca-swiss, with access to USB/HDMI ports, QD port is great for me as I use cross-body straps with QD connectors. RRS grip is very ergonomically designed. Very high quality and Leica like design and look. L-bracket also provides protection to side of camera while be minimal in design. I also use ProGrade Cobalt cards and have had no issues.
Bought the Leica screen protector, however on a trip to Morocco where the temp was only in the mid 80s, the protector came away from the LCD… just not great in the heat. Bought the Peak Design Micro Clutch which is awesome, and can still be used with PD strap. I tend to use 32 GB cards which I use for each project and then keep them as a backup… any bigger and I fear what may happen if it gets damaged. For a case, I cycle between three… Billingham M Combination for day-day wandering, the Peak design 6 litre sling when I am wandering with a tripod and Gomatics’ McKinnon 21 liter Cube Pack when I am travelling away from home on vacation (it folds away and fits beautifully in my carry on, and can hold a tripod underneath the pack using the additional Gomatic strap accessory).
HI, thanks for your videos , very well explained. I've received my Q3 today and the battery is still charging. I would like to ask you if this thumb grip is also comfortable when using the Smallrig L-bracket shown in another video ? Also, have you have had the opportunity to holfd the Samllrig cage for the Q3 ? Can I also ask you why did you decided to go for Smallrig grip instead of the ID Grips? Or if you have both what's the differences? what mades you selecting the L-bracket? Thanks anticipatively and a warm hello from the hills of Parme
I had no accessories for my Q. The only upgrade I made, was to put a piece of anti slip tape to the thumbs mould to enhance my grip on the camera. Cheap, but effective solution. Keep on rolling.
Hi Alex, Good video, but I would advise you to use memory cards that are not to big, because in case of failure you do lose to many pictures in one go. I myself am using on my Q3 the smaller Lexar cards (Lexar Professional 1667x SD 64GB, 250 MB/s memory card SDXC UHS-II) which are top and quick. They do exist in different sizes. Greetings
Have you downloaded their firmware 1.3... Suppose to improve stability... I bought Leica thumbgrip and a 3rd party leather case for one third of Leica's price Also a spare battery, shutter button, lens caps with lanyard and a wotancraft neck strap
Great video. You're correct Sony Tough did seem wider and had to push in more firmly. I returned it because it was way too overpriced. Will try the Lexar as I don't need 299m per second for video recording. Have all this "stuff" minus the ids grip. You pay for Leica but with a $6,000 camera skimping isn't an option. Thanks. You should do a Q3 Menu video of your basic setting. Always interested in how professionals set up their cameras especially for street/travel photography.
I bought cheap soft release buttons for my M10 and M5, and they always fall off. The cheap ones are larger in diameter and the threads aren't as secure. I bought the Leica one for the Q3 and another for the M10 and have no complaints.
Thumb grip, hand grip really improve ergonomics for shooting the Q3. I also use a Peak Design strap. A 512 GB SD card will be overkill for most shooters, unless you’re doing weddings. I lost my Leica soft release within a week and won’t replace it unless I decide to secure with Loc-Tite.

Can't wait to get my Q3 and take it on the next adventure! I already own 3 Clever Supply straps . They are so beautiful!

Still rocking the Q2! Really like the silver and black look with the hood and thumb grip on your Q3.

The IDS grip is great but on the smaller side. Aesthetically the IDS grip is nicer but I like the size of the SmallRig.
@@ABarrera thanks so much, I'm going to select the smallrig..I do have some and found them very practical ..Have a nice day.
Thank you for the video. I just received my Q3. Was the screen protector easy to install?
When did Leica Miami deliver your q3? I put name in one hour after you could preorder and 11 months later, no camera.

Thank you! Do you use a UV protective filter for your Q3?
I do or a Cinebloom filter.

Does the soft release for the Q3 also fit on your MP?
great Video Alex. My Q3 came with a square hood....hmmm
was the Leica 19623 glass protector hard to apply? 3rd party brands does not align on my Q3. Thanks.
Just like any screen protector. I got a hair under mine 😂

I did, the camera has yet to freeze on me and feels snappier. Now its time to improve the AF

Any bag recommendation ?
I use a Brevite backpack and peak design sling.
@@ABarrera Do you have the Everyday Sling 3L ? If so, is it a good fit for the Leica q3 ? Thanks

Good to know, this is my first soft release so I have no previous experience.
I bought a Leica one and lost it after one month. $5 dollar Amazon ones for me now.
Does the IDS grip also fit the q2?
I believe they have one for the Q2
The IDS grip is amazing
