Perast + Our Lady of the Rocks | Day Trip from Kotor, Montenegro Travel Food Video Transcript:
Well good morning good morning guys. Good morning guys. It is another beautiful day here in Kotor (Котор) so we decided let's take a day trip. So we're going to be hopping on a bus and visiting Perast which is a small little town also by the water. Um yeah and once we're there we can hop on a boat and go visit a few islands so it should be a nice day.
We did manage to find the bus, though it involved running up the street since we were in the wrong spot, but aside from that, it was a quick 20-minute ride up the coast to Perast.
Located on the Bay of Kotor, Perast (Perasto) is a small town that hit its peak in the 18th century under the Venetian Republic. During this time, it had as many as four active shipyards and the citizens of the town were allowed to trade and sell goods without tax on the Venetian market. This made them very wealthy, and while today Perast has more of a sleepy vibe, you can still see traces of that wealth in the number of palazzos that line the waterfront.
So the boat frequency turned out to be more like 30 minutes - that morning we learned “just 5 minutes” should not be taken literally.
There are two islands off the coast of Perast (Perasto). One is St. George, which holds an old monastery and is not open to visitors, and the other is Our Lady of the Rocks, which we visited. The latter is an artificial island that was created by sinking old ships loaded with rocks. Here you’ll find the Church of Our Lady of the Rocks, which is the main attraction. To be honest, this is a quick visit and you likely won’t need more than 15-20 minutes on the island, but you do get some nice views of the surrounding mountains.
Then, after that little excursion we could only think about one thing: lunch!
After Sam’s drone session, we had enough time to climb up to visit one more church, and then it was pretty much time to call it a day.
Perast (Perasto) is a charming seaside town, but it’s very small and some of the tourist sights weren’t open so there wasn't much to do, but it’s great for a half-day trip if you want to see something aside from Kotor (Котор)!
Alright guys so here we are wrapping up a lovely little day trip from Kotor (Котор). Yeah, it sure was lovely and such an affordable trip. I mean we only paid 1 Euro each way. We're just waiting to catch the bus that comes every half hour. Just a few hours here is enough time really. You can wander around the old town, you can take a boat ride out to the islands, have a nice comfortable lunch. Do maybe a little bit more exploring. And then you're ready to go back. So it makes for a great half day trip I would say. Bye for now.

Yaaaay you are finally in my country! I wish you came in the summer tho, there is more activities to do and weather is more beautiful but I hope you liked it here and you want to come back sometime in the future ❤
Thanks! We still had a great time visiting later in the year and we'd love to explore more in the future.
Awesome city views and nice drone shots! 👌👍😊 Thanks for sharing!

thanx i am from M.N.E
This town was so picturesque.. right out of the movies! And I must compliment you both.. your videos are improving day by day! The difference between the previous ones(2-3 years old) and the recent ones is very much visible! Love the quality of your work! Amazing
Thank you very much! We've tried to upgrade our gear and improve our editing a bit in the last couple of years. It means a lot to hear that you can notice a difference :)
Lovely tips about climbing to the fort and also the restaurant one. Thank you
My beautiful country. ❤❤❤❤
Awesome! We sure enjoyed visiting.
Lovely sights as always! I can smell it all.
Thank you very much! It made for such a nice day trip and the meal was the best we had in Montenegro.
Thank you guys SO MUCH for the *great* videos about the countries of former Yugoslavia! I must've watched all of them over a dozen times in preparation for my own trip to Croatia, Bosnia, and Montenegro next month! :D
I've gotten hooked on your channel. I'm happy for you two because you are doing what you enjoy for a living. You persevered through the lean times over 5 years and it looks like your channel should really be paying off now. Keep it going.
Thank you very much! We're fortunate to be able to do this :) We really started off from scratch in terms of not knowing how to film, edit or make videos but just practicing all the time really makes a difference and upgrading gear and software along the way as we learned new skills.
I dont mean to be offtopic but does someone know a method to log back into an Instagram account?
I somehow lost the login password. I appreciate any tips you can give me.
@Brennan Canaan Instablaster =)
@Duke Gatlin i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and im waiting for the hacking stuff atm.
I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Duke Gatlin It did the trick and I actually got access to my account again. I'm so happy!
Thank you so much, you really help me out !
Hi guys,
I really have say you sure hit out the park with the old buildings which I sure enjoyed. Oh yes the food just makes me hungry.
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks! That was our favorite meal by far :)
Great job with the drone. What an addition to your videos.
Thank you! It has been nice to be able to fly it lately with user friendly laws in Bosnia and Montenegro.
hey, where did you hail the bus back to Kotor after the island trip? since it's every half an hour, really need to know the exact location so i dont miss my bus back to dubrovnik. thanks heaps!
I think we got back on the same spot we were dropped off or else somewhere on the main road.
@@samuelandaudrey appreciate it!
I enjoy the videos you guys make so much! They are very real and not overly produced. It makes me feel like me and my husband can take trips like these too. Thanks for keeping it real and having prices to all you guys do! Very helpful! What’s next?
Thank you very much! We'd highly recommend traveling in the Balkans. We have one last stop in Budva before we take a ferry to Italy. Where would you like to go first with your husband?
Not sure if you ever get this kind of feedback, but I recently got a new phone and noticed something different with your videos. Turns out it's the 1080p at 60fps. Wow, it really makes a difference. Love it.
Thank you very much! Sounds like your new phone is awesome :)
Thank you very much for this great trip and wonderful explanation greetings from Egypt.
Thank you very much!
Samuel and Audrey - Travel and Food Videos you are welcome 👍
Great vlog guys! We were in Kotor recently (video coming soon). We skipped Perast as we just didn't have enough time. But it was great that we get to see how it is through this vid. We did Budva too.. curious to see what you guys think. We miss Kotor though.. those views! 😍 - Trevor
Thanks! That is cool to hear. Comparing both from a travel perspective we preferred Kotor but Budva was our cheapest airbnb rental of the 2017 so it was a great workation as we spent a lot of time catching up on things in front of our computer.
Ymmm... perast is one of my Dreamland.... big thnx to u. Cause of u... I could see it on net.. so can prepare to visit.. thnx
Thank you! Hope you have a great trip.
Looks like a nice spot for a short day trip, and that pasta looked great. The drone shots were really good in this, what drone do you use?
Thank you! It was a lovely day trip. We're using a GoPro Karma but would highly recommend the DJI Mavick over the one we have.
Thanks for the video! We are thinking or going there tomorrow, looks beautiful 😁
I am pilot, and Montenegro is my best country over the world ❤️, I was so happy there.
Great to hear!
Watching Audrey walk away from the camera in slow motion never gets old.
Thanks!
2 days till my eastern Europe trip!!!
Woah! That is awesome to hear. You must be so excited :)
watching all your video of Montenegro, coz planning to visit by September 2018, it will help me as a solo traveler to explore Montenegro using public transport.
Wow that place was beautiful.
Thanks! It sure is and it makes for such a relaxing and easy day trip from Kotor.
Hi Guys thank you for your videos, last year I went to Toronto and you gave us a lot of tips from the video you made there.
We are going to Kotor this Summer on a cruise ship and want to ask you, did you walk from where the boat left you at Perast to the nice restaurant? is the bus stop back to Kotor also near by? or need to take another bus?
Thank you again!
Thank you! That is exciting to hear. The good news is that the cruise ship pulls up very close to the Kotor market. Meaning you can hop on the bus to Perast easily. Perast is tiny so everything is walking distance including visiting the town, the restaurant and heading back to the bus stop. It is all on the main road.
Yeah, one of the issues with off season is constructions, see, in the main season construction in tourist areas are prohibited to not disturb tourists, so everything has to be done between November and June
Ah, that makes sense. We still had a fun visit.
Oh you guys ! I love your style! It make me want to see more of it and subscribe to your channel which I’ll do right now!
Great vlog! 👋😊
Thank you very much! We really appreciate that :)
Wow what fantastic drone shots. Beatiful!! Always nice to see you guys. Take care and wishing you the best from Bethlehem pa
Thank you very much! We were happy to get the drone out again :)
Montenegro is gorgeous!
Thanks! It really is.
nice and informative video. im planning to visit montenegro this coming september and i want to ask you guys if flying drone is not much of a problem there? o di i need to get license for that? your response is highly appreciated. More blessings to you guys 👫👍👍👍
You'll want to check the current status as these things change all of the time: uavcoach.com/drone-laws-in-montenegro/
Looks lovely in off season, I prefer to travel to places in cooler months, it lends a more local vibe, better prices & less crowds.
Thanks! So do we. I have to admit though it sure does rain a lot during late November.
Nice video. :) Have you two come across aggressive stray dogs in your travels? If so, do you have any tips to stay safe?
Yeah, we've encountered them in SE Asia. Honestly if they're being really aggressive pretending to throw something at them (without actually having anything in your hand) works really well. They're naturally afraid of a throwing motion.
Montenegro....ist so schön..
YES!!!!!!!!! Another video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you!
Next time you could visit Prčanj, it's across the fjord from Perast. It has beautiful churches, which are also not open, but they are beautiful.:)
Oh wow these videos are older than I assumed. Not that I mind! What are y'alls plans for 2018?
Sorry for that! We really filmed a lot in 2017 so we have a big backlog. We'll be announcing what we'll be doing in 2018 really soon :)
wonderful views 💙😍
Thank you!
Just gorgeous!
Thank you! We're really glad we had a chance to visit for the day.
4:29 Is homeboy relieving himself against the building? (Lower right)
Nice video! Thanks for sharing !
Thanks for watching!
Samuel is very funny. He is my favorite.
Thank you! :)
Have fun! 🚎🚎🚎
Thanks! We had a great time.
Such a lovely place! What language do they speak in Montenegro? Is English widely spoken?
Bruno Gambini we speak Serbian language in Montenegro. But we learn English a lot in school
Thank you! I can confirm English is widely spoken by those working in tourism.
We found anyone working in tourism spoke English functionally.
Serbo Croat
do you know where there is a bus from kotor to perast
Wow! Gorgeous 😍
Thank you!
Did you use drone camera in this artificial island ? Very nice church in this artificial island. I like it
Thank you! Yes, we had a chance to fly it from the island and from the mainland as well.
how was the temperature at that time?
It was cool. Not warm or hot.
asi hablo zaratustra Muy interesante, gracias.
Jaja, muchas gracias! El drone es divertido. :)
amazing video! P.S. I'm not first today :(
Thank you very much! Not 1st but appreciate the comment as always :)
Lindísimo lugar
Gracias!
So gorgeous!
Thanks! It sure is :)
Nice video but I don't get the point of it. Perast with the Lady of the Rock island is the place that deserve more than 40€ and definitely more than 1 hour, just to scratch the surface of it's glorious and above all fascinating history, which is at the edge of the reality. By the way did you know that in that restaurant Pierce Bronsnan made some of the scenes of his spy movie November Men.
Thanks! I wish we could have had more time to explore more and maybe even spend the night. It is more of a vlog than guide I suppose.
That place looks like one of the small towns on Lake Como
That is interesting to hear!
Please don't get me wrong, I really do like your video. I was just a bit sad for you, because you miss a lot. Some tourists were literally crying after being listen to some of the stories from it's past. Almost half of it's inhabitants are from England, who bought some of those old stone-made houses and restore them for living.
Cheers! Thanks for explaining that.
Are you guys from Denmark?
From Canada :)
Oh okay :) I guess I was wrong then xD
Nice.❤️🇨🇦
Thank you! :)
Are you heading down to Albania? 😍
Unfortunately not on this trip. We'll be taking the ferry to Italy after Montenegro.
Samuel and Audrey - Travel and Food Videos Oh cool I live in Italy, I recommend the ligurian riviera...Also strongly recommend Albania in summer, trust me

柯特城很美可惜去到下大雨只好雨中觀景。
When will you come to Sweden?
Gosh I hope soon! Where do you recommend we go?
Wow, there’s a lot of places to see of course. Malmö and Österlen in the South is just completely amazing (can give you really nice local tips in that case) and good to combine with Copenhagen, just 25 minutes by train to Denmark. Or the Bohuslän archipelago (Fjällbacka and Marstrand are two really pitoresc towns) is crazy beautiful and super Swedish combined with Gothenburg which recently was chosen as one of the world’s nicest cities! Stockholm is a certain option - great city in all ways and the capital. Or the ice hotel in Jukkasjärvi looks incredible! Haven’t been in the North myself because it's a LONG country but just need to go soon, see the northern lights and the reindeers and stuff. All though - Northern Sweden is best in the winter and the South is best in summertime, then you should try to get here in June and take part of the midsummer celebration. ENJOY YOUR TRIP TO SWEDEN!
Nice
Thanks!
